In what way does your game fit the theme?
The main mechanic of my game is the ability to record movements and play them back to overcome obstacles (for example, record a jump, then jump, then playback the recorded jump to make a double jump!)

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I wrote all the code and made all the assets myself.

Very cool idea, though I wasn't able to get very far myself.

Really creative idea! I was confused at first, so I had to go back and look at your description. It would be helpful to have a quick tutorial on what to do within the game. This would make it easier to understand for the player and it can be more interactive at times.

Overall, good submission!

Very creative implementation of a unique game mechanic.

I had a lot of fun playing this challenging puzzle game and made it all the way to the end!

Great job! A 3-D version of this could be the next portal.

The game is confusing but I do like the graphics and music!

Hey I didn't get the point of game, there was no tutorial, also a lot of things are buggy, some times it doesn't jump, it sticks to wall, can you explain the controls to me

Developer (1 edit)

A and D are move controls and W is a variable jump, so you can hold it for a higher jump.  If you click L, you start recording your movement.  Click L again and you stop recording.  Then, you press P to playback your movement.  When in playback, you are not affected by gravity, so you can use playback to run and jump across gaps or up buildings.  My apologies for the game being a bit unclear, if I had more time I would have definitely polished it!  I plan to go back and upload a second version, taking everyones critiques into account.

A tutorial would be nice. It was really hard to get into the game. Good idea.

I like the overall mechanic, but I do agree with most of comments talking about the jump being really difficult, having said that, I'd love to see more of this, because I did enjoy it.

Couldn't get past the first jump, a tutorial would be great :)

Interesting concept! The jumps are very hard though, almost need to do it perfectly to get across them.

Pretty cool take on the idea. My game also requires you to record your actions and play them back, but difference from yours being i clone the player.

Good:

  • Player animations are really nice, i did not bother adding them in my game lol.
  • The visual feedback on what is going on, using the camera like ui is cool.

Bad:

  • The jumps are really far and i really couldnt even pass the second jump, you can make the jump distance lower initially and then increase the difficulty.

It's pretty difficult and i didn't understand much at first, but it's a really creative idea.

It was a bit difficult at the start to understand how to use the playback, but then it was challenging and fun!

I really like the idea! I think you should make a tutorial in game instead of doing it in "In what way does your game fit the theme?".

But after that the game was  fun!

If you have a moment, please consider rating our game ;)

the game was really nice! I'm now reading the "in what way does your game fit the theme", and realizing the main strategy of the game, which I didn't find when I got stuck on the first level. So if this is worked on post-jam, flattening the difficulty curve is something I would focus on. Also, I felt the controls felt clunky when I got stuck on walls multiple times, because you're using Unity, I would just simply apply a physics2d material to the walls that has 0 friction to prevent that. Overall, great job! Your game is pretty similar to mine, https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/722098 feel free to check it out
