Excellent. I love the aesthetics and the game design even though I don't know what to do lol

Audio and visuals went well together with this submission. Good job.

Could you please play and rate my game as well?

What I liked

  • Nice game concept everyone can relate to
  • Music gives sad reminiscent vibes
  • Credits page is well done (nice work showing the assets you guys have used)
  • Visually pleasing to look at

Improvements

  • No point to ghost sitting (maybe change the camera view so you can stare into your dates eyes again when sitting)
  • Flash interactable objects
  • Rewind speed should be faster than normal speed
  • Make it clear what went wrong (maybe a heart beat sound near embarrassing moments, so your character has sense of urgency)
  • Would do well with some foreshadowing elements in game

Bugs

  • Sometimes dates would sit on top of one another which was hilarious to watch

Nice game , reminded me of some of my dates that weren't as smooth as this one. You guys have built a good foundation just needs some improvements and definitely needs more things to do in the game.

Visuals, music and the theme was very good. Well done guys!!

Hey thanks so much for the feedback, I really appreciate it! I love the heartbeat idea I might try something like that for sure, I agree about the rewind speed and I've already begun working to fix that for a post jam launch. Also good point on highlighting intractable objects I will look into adding that as well. The bug you found does sound hilarious, I haven't heard about that one I'll have to look into it, thanks for pointing it out!

Developer(+1)

Oh one thing I forgot to mention is that there is actually a point to sitting in the chair it's just really not clear enough at the moment.

Submitted(+1)

No problem! I think the bug happened when i sat on the left side of the cafe , next to the spill.  Just trying to work out why does this ghost need to sit down xD . I got up again when the first couple came to sit down and to my surprise , me and my date also sat on top of them. The game was shortly over after a few seconds.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the info that'll be useful for trying to re-create it. One of the lose conditions is that the first couple comes in and sits on the left table and your date will say "that other table is actually my favorite seat here" So then if as a ghost you sit on the left side when the first couple decides where to sit they'll choose the other table allowing your past self and the date to sit in her "favorite" spot. Seems like the bug your getting is somehow one of the groups is changing their path correctly but the other isn't

Submitted(+1)

I hope you managed to fix it, I followed you and will play your game again one this jam is over. :D

Submitted(+1)

It was a neat concept but I couldn't figure out what to do. I did understand what to do for the first obstacle (the right table) but after that, I wasn't sure of what else I could interact with. Music selection was great to identify with the concept of your game as well as the theme. Totally gave off that reminiscent feeling. Congrats on the jam!

Developer

Thanks for taking the time to play the game! That second obstacle is definitely not very obvious why you lost, I didn't have a good animation for that fail state, hoping to fix that after the jam. But I'm glad you enjoyed the music and concept!

Submitted(+1)

Very well done! Very simple and appealing!

Developer

Thank you so much!

Submitted(+1)

Nice game! A little short :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for checking it out!

Submitted(+1)

Nice Game, but too short. I would like that there were more solutions to the problem, and more problems to fix

Developer

Me too... lol Thanks for playing it though!

Submitted(+1)

I agree with everyone else. Great look and feel, but I can't figure out what to do.

Developer

Thanks for checking it out anyway, your guys' game was incredible easily my favorite of the jam!

Submitted(+1)

I love this game, it's simple and appealing to the eye good job man

Submitted(+1)

Beatiful! Just takes some time to find what you have to do. Still, the music and the graphics really fitted each other. Nice!

Developer

Thanks so much, for taking the time to play and review I really appreciate it.

Submitted(+1)

Love how atmosphere and music fits so well. A little bit confusing but I am gonna make it to the end! :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! I spent a lot of time trying to nail the look and feel of the game probably to the detriment of the content quantity and clarity of the goals. I'm working on a post jam update that will address that though. Let me know if you end up completing it! There is a way to finish the game.

Submitted(+1)

Agree with others that it is hard to understand what to do. I only managed to sit on each of the chairs :D However, the art, music, and general atmosphere are breathtaking. The rewind mechanic looks very cool, too! Would definitely play a full game like this. Great job!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for taking the time to play and review it! I really regret not taking the time to make the goal more clear. I've worked on it yesterday so hopefully after the jam I can get an update in that makes it a much more enjoyable game.

Submitted(+1)

Art, masterrpiece...

I got nothing to say, its beautiful.

Your the best!

Developer

Haha I don't know about all that but thank you!

Submitted(+1)

no thanks your too good for me XD

Submitted(+1)

Such an atmosphere, great job guys

Developer

Hey thanks so much!

Submitted(+1)

First of all, congrats on submitting your project. Making a game in such a short time is a win on itself.

Your game looks amazing, the thumbnail really sold me on that one and started playing inmmediatly.

The rewind mechanic and effects look incredible as well. I think the game just needs to be clear on how to play. The only thing I manage to do was to put the sign on the spilled water. I kept rewinding time and didnt know how to make the date go well.

My other concern is that, I asume im one of the guys on the table, but since they are both identical other than the color I was confused about which one I was, maybe the other couple could have a dude look very different or two girls to get the point across.

Music is great and I would love to see the updates of this piece which has a lot of charm.

If you have time to play my game and rate it I would really appreciate it.

Rem.

Developer(+1)

Hey thanks for the feedback, and for taking the time to play the game! I honestly had the same thought about differentiating which guy you were but unfortunately I had the thought way too late. Using two girls is a great idea idk why I didn't just do that it would have been really easy.

Submitted(+1)

The audio!!!!!

I LOVED THIS!

I use the rewind so many times to see what happened if I try to move something else. Made me feel a little bit emotional the music and this is amazing haha

Really love your work! Continue, please!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! I want to make an update post jam with a bit more content in it.

Submitted(+1)

I didn't understand anything, sorry. But in the graphics and sound section it is excellent.

I know the space key returns the time, but it doesn't do anything or maybe I don't apply it when I should.

All I have to do is put the wet floor sign in place and sit on a chair?

Developer

It's definitely lacking in content. Unfortunately in all there's really only 3 series of events you're able to manipulate. I also did a terrible job introducing the player to the concept of the game within the game itself, but thanks for giving it a try and glad you liked the visuals and audio!

Submitted(+1)

Damn! I really want to know how you did that everything go with it when you like rewinded the time just insane.. like even the music is reversed?! And not to talk about the graphics, they were also amazing.

Now to the like gameplay, at first I didn't really get what I need to do.. I like thought I need to pick up stuff and place them to make things changes in the future, although you only can pick up that sign right? Maybe I am just dumb. And I don't really got how the people start to sit at different places and stuff. So couldn't make a good date :(

Although still an insanely good made game, congrats!

Developer(+1)

Wow thanks so much! Instead of keeping track of positional data every few frames or so I just have a bunch of predefined locations that each character keeps track of and then send them between them, then that list changes depending on certain conditions. The audio is as simple as adjusting the pitch to -1 and all the animations have their speed tied to that same -1 float which just plays them backwards.
I meant for there to be more dialogue that would give better hints but I was trying to solve bugs in the dialogue until like 2 hours before deadline so I had to scramble to get all the dialogue in.

Submitted(+1)

oh! damn okay thanks for explaining :D

Submitted(+1)

Nice implementation of the rewind system and I also like the art pretty much. The music fits nicely as well. It was though a bit uncertain for me what to do exactly :)

Developer

Thank you for playing it! Looking back I realize I definitely dropped the ball on introducing the players to the mechanics, if only I could rewind time to fix that... lol

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Great game! Took me a bit to figure out what was going on but then when the people sat at the other table it felt very good and made me fell smart. I wish this was longer! You will have to work on a post jam version! ;) So great work and keep it up!

Developer

Thanks so much! I am definitely considering expanding upon this post jam, there was a lot I wanted to get done but ran into too many issues with my time warping implementation.
