In what way does your game fit the theme?
The enemies get stronger together. As they snap to each other, they scale in damage and are much harder to manoeuvre.

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
All assets are my own for the exception of the below.
I'm using Unity's Universal Render Pipeline and Cinemachine for effects.
Also using Aron Granberg’s A* Pathfinding Project for, well, pathfinding.
Sound effects were created using Leshy SFXMaker.
Soundtrack is from Bensound and fonts are from DaFont.

Very fun game and I love the retro SFX, Also follows the theme very well as the enemies get stronger when they join together.

Thank you for playing, glad you enjoyed it!

I saw your YT video about making this game, then noticed I already had it bookmarked but haven't played it. It's a fun little twist on similar games and I like how you worked the theme into it. The animation on the ship when it's shooting is very cool too.

Sometimes it felt like my shots weren't registering, though... or maybe it was hard to tell that I was missing.

Thanks so much for playing and the nice words, really appreciate it!
Ah, good feedback. I tried to make the particles match up with the output force, but I think I still made them a tiny bit too big compared to the shot's range. I'll make a note to add more player affordance if I go back to it. Thanks again!

This is pretty cool, I really like the concept, the visuals and particles!
Some minor things: It wasn't that clear that you had to shoot the enemies into the corners, figured it out on the second try though and the camera probably didn't have to move with the player on a map this small.

Other than that you obviously could have added some more different enemies and power-ups and maybe some temporary obstacles for more varied gameplay, but can't really expect that from a jam game! Good job!

(Also, I really like your game page, gotta take some inspiration from that)

Thanks so much for playing and your nice comments!
Agreed! I think it needs a tutorial for sure. Re. the camera I was planning on doing more level design but ran out of time haha.
I'm considering making it a fuller game with enemies & power ups etc. Not sure, will see!
Take care and thanks again!

Oh hey Bastian, so weird to see you around again, that’s great! Thanks for playing and linking to the play-through, always very useful to see other players’ experience.

Aaaaah, seems like you didn’t realise you could move using WASD / Arrow keys. I thought this was a pretty common control scheme and didn’t need a tutorial but apparently I do! I’ll know for next time. 👌

Also under-estimated optimisation requirements for webgl, should have capped the max number of enemies a bit more. You totally broke the game, haha. Very good to know, thanks so much for playing! See you around! 😃

yo bro i actually pressed the buttons many times as that is pretty standard! I must of bugged out which can happen in web gl. Sorry about that!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Oh damn, I didn't know the keyboard input could bug out in webgl! I wonder if there's a way to make sure that doesn't happen, I'll have to look into it. Keep up the good work!

One of those cases where I was like “you know what? Yes. Yes I dare.” 😆

Great post processing and beautiful game. The combination of music and art create a retro atmosphere

Pretty good game with an interesting art style, and of course good post-processing. Feels like a good retro game)

Developer

Thanks for playing! I was worried I went a bit overboard on the post-processing, but decided “hey why not, might as well.” 😂

Even though its just "another top-down shooter". I had a lot of fun playing. The game feel was very nice. I also loved the art style. Especially the Shooting animation. The Audio was great too! Good Job!

Thanks so much for playing, glad you enjoyed it!

With such a simple concept and small amount of content, thought I’d at least work hard towards the “juice” of it all, glad it worked out! 👌

That was really, really awesome. Weirdly, I found it easier to keep them together, because then I could just group a bunch of them into a corner and wait for the hole to swallow them up. What I like is that your game is open enough to allow that kind of playstyle, and for me to hit a score of 1200 before succumbing to my own hubris and running into a cluster of like 20 dudes. Brilliant stuff.

Developer

Thanks so much for playing and your kind words, means a lot!

Can’t believe you reached 1200 when my high score is ~800... Impressive! 😯

A lot of happy accidents during the development and a “yes and” approach towards them. It was really satisfying to just “go with the flow” on the game design, should try it more often I think! 👌

The idea of to distance enemies of making them more weaked Is good , Also the graphics and the enemies were good looking and the concept were good ,

Just one thing maybe is that , to show the player that the enemies are more weaked when they are not together , either the game were good

come check out the game I made with my friend.

That’s a good shout, a little bit more player affordance would have been good. Thanks for pointing it out!
