Really well done. I got to level 15. The game was smart and engaging. The color effect behind the square was really nicely done. The jumping mechanic was spot on. The puzzles were really smart as well. I recognized that hitting certain colors lowered the jump but how this actually worked was a bit confusing. Overall though really amazing job!
If you have a chance please check out and rate my team's entry "Beatdown Breakdown Boomtastic": https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-5/rate/928162 It's a rhythm-based brawler!

In what way does your game fit the theme?
When coloured layers are in alignment/together, the height of the player's jump is higher/stronger.
Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes.

Thank you for your comments! Had I more time, I may've found a better way to explain the way the overlapping colour layers strengthen the players jump when they're together (see what I did there?), but I do see where you're coming from -- it was maybe an ambitious concept to get right in a week.
Nonetheless, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Again, thanks! <3
I'm really glad I decided to rate some games last minute, because this game is amazing! Definitely challenging, and I wish there were a few more puzzles mixed in, but you did a great job with this!
The biggest frustration I have though, is that I am unable to beat the last level... Is there any way to avoid getting squashed like this?
Clearly I enjoyed it, but it's so sad seeing the end in sight and not being able to win.
Oh no! Heartbreaking! That last 'drop' was supposed to be a nice satisfying section before the end as a kinda 'reward' for your efforts, I thought I'd tested it thoroughly (given the limited jam time), and it's so sad to see you denied like this.
I'm glad you liked it though; I also would've loved to make more puzzle levels, but they take longer for me to design overall compared to platforming challenges, which is why there are more of those.
Thank you for your comments, this means a lot to me. <3
This was an incredibly unique and surreal experience! The aesthetic is super interesting, the animations are satisfying, and the puzzles (were really hard but) very well designed and really challenged me. I think the voice lines add a lot to the game, and I might just have to steal that (sorry :))
My only bit of feedback, besides flattening out the difficulty curve, is that before I was told that separated colors made my jump worse, it felt really weird and I thought it was just a bug, so I would've probably turned that mechanic off before it was actually introduced.
I absolutely loved this game, and gave it my highest rating so far, really nice job :)
Very clever! The game has a distinct style and some levels were pretty tricky (in a good way)! The one note I'd make is the fact that your jump is more powerful when colors are in alignment didn't really come across. There were a few times where I didn't understand why my jump was so weak. But overall, great job. One of my favorites of the jam so far!
Very unique game, lots of fun, its connection to the theme is a bit loose though. I love the voice overs, reminds me of portal.
Really great game. So simple in some ways but brilliantly executed. I love the high contrast style and the puzzles were a tricky too!
I just spent way too long playing this, but I finally finished it, the game isfun and satisfying.
This game is absolutely amazing! The idea is something new and creative and it works really well. The game design of the puzzles is very well thought out. This combined with the suitable audio design and responsive movement makes for a very fun and sometimes challenging game. The art style is simple and very effective. I love the way the colours interact with each other and when you restart your character breaks into a million pieces. Its as perfect as I could want for a game of this Idea, well done!
I like puzzle games and I played lots of them, but I still finding games that make me wonder how did puzzle designers can make such a clever puzzles. Original concept, amazingly pollished, variated puzzles, good use of the theme... This game is practically perfect, greetings.
Really, really awesome concept with such an amazing level of polish.
The attention to detail is phenomenal: from the puzzle design, to the look and feel, the sounds... Wow.
I think it's more a case of preference but I thought the spikes hitboxes was maybe a tad too big
However it honestly feels more like a full on released game, than a game jam entry. So yeah... How? Are you a wizard?
I am indeed a wizard! (also thank you)
Yeah, I'd have made the spikes more forgiving with, and I say this often, a little more time. Evidently I spent a lot of the time on that 'full game' feel and polish, and didn't really feel like I could tweak the spike collisions to perfection -- it would've been top of the list had I another day; or not uploaded as early as I did (but I needed a rest, and to call the project 'done').
Again, thank you! <3
Very interesting, I liked your take on stronger together. A redo button on the levels would have been really helpful so that when you get stuck you don't have to start from the very beginning.
The atmosphere was really strong! I also really liked the movements of the cube^^
I'm not very good at platformers so I couldn't finish the game but I really liked the concept. I'll probably make another attempt another time :3
Ahh this was a really interesting one. There's always so much to explore with the puzzle games, and I think you've gotten it.
I liked the idea of the colour shifting as the primary mechanic -- the jumping height (based on coloured blocks) in addition to the primary mechanic of colour shifting did add another level of challenge to the gameplay, though I was curious what the game would be like if you focused only on the primary mechanic instead (as it's a strong concept by itself). Obviously the jumping height was the component for the game jam though lol.
Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you for your comments!
I think, if given more time, I'd have loved to expand the concept in all possible directions; I certainly would've loved to do more puzzle-centred stages, for example. But with just a week and time ever-decreasing, I fell back on into my personal comfort zone of platforming challenges for the most part. Perhaps if I didn't push for 25 levels... (but I really wanted that nice 5x5 level select grid...)
Again, thank you. This means a lot to me. <3
at first it was confusing for me, because of using many colors in some levels, like level 7. I played till level 11 and precise jumps got frustrating, then I gave up .
visuals were appropriate, sound effects were great. It was innovative game but I think if you work more on level design it could become a catchy and fum game. good job :)
Wow, those visual effects are stunning!
The idea is really original, this game is awesome!
This game is amazing, the art style mixed with the sound and narrating creates a great atmosphere
