In what way does your game fit the theme?
The game is centered around a boy who forms a bond with a neighbor's dog.
Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
WASD or Arrows to move (and to play pong! score goes to 10)
F to interact
If pong breaks, move to the blue bar and hit escape!
Don't look through your window on the day after the black and white scene, the game will stop there.
Thanks for playing!

Fun and cute little story game! I LOVE the art style, the pixel sprites on isometric vector scenes was quirky and cute and fit the game feel aesthetic nicely.
Like about that a game of pong has some story. I don't really think the art fits in and I didn't really have fun playing it because it's kind of boring. The song is relaxing though. The problem I can probably see is that I don't really see this game fits the theme but pretty nice.
Thanks for playing. This was my first jam and our first Unity jam. We wanted to focus on a story driven game. We thought it fit the theme because both the dog and the boy were better (happy) when they were together.
I really like the idea of this game, but when I play ping pong with the dog sometime ball just enters the void with dog when I hit it with my lag(?)
yeah, the mini game has a collider issue we didnt catch. You can hit escape to reset the paddles and ball though. Thanks for playing!
Nice game! Really liked seeing pong with a story element! Is there a way to win?
Yes, you can beat him! The story progresses after each pong game!
You can move the pong paddle left and right to really whack the ball. If the ball goes crazy just hit the escape key to reset the paddles and ball.
Oh nice! I didn't know you could go left and right!
nice job
Really nice game. It reminds me of the orignal pokemon games. My only complaint is that the character is in pixel art but nothing else is.
It's not a problem at all. The problem is that the character doesn't fits well with the scenario, but not because of the pixel art itself.
hahahaha this is the game i like most of all the jamm,... congraaats!!! really funnn!
Many thanks, glad you had fun.
Awesome game man, really enjoyed it.
Really nice game, really like the art style and music, the pong gameplay was simple and nice although sometimes the ball could go too fast to even see it, overall really good and simple game. great work
Thank you. There are definitely some things i would tighten up on the pong game.
Wow it was a very cool game, I enjoyed it, especially the cutscenes!
Cutscenes looked great and even though it was simple, still had a good premise to it. I wish I could get my dogs to play pong with me :(
Don't we all. Thanks for playing.
Wow man, I very nice twist on pong and such a wholesome story, I really like the pixel art and the cutscene art.
Thanks. I was surprised at how much fun it was to bumrush the ball. I played for like 30 minutes after making the change.
I'm very glad, that you chose to made a story-driven game! I like the game! Please continue!
I love the story you decided to tell, it was very heartwarming! Keep going from here! Your next project will be even better :)
I really enjoyed the isometric environments and the general idea of exploring to progress. It's nice to not have a tutorial holding your hands sometimes. Very cute story and very fitting I feel for the times as I'm sure there's quite a few people that started making friends with their neighbors dogs out of boredom this last year. Enjoyed and rated! :)
Thank you very much. I bet you are right about neighbor dogs.
While being similar to pong being able to move in 4 directions makes it stand out i also really like the story elements of it . but in all its a good game .
Much Pong, very cool game! I really appreciate that you’re telling a story, not many jam games do that. Particularly interesting to me since I’m (gratefully) not in school right now, but can’t imagine how difficult it must be for students during the pandemic.
Gameplay-wise, I really like that you basically combine two games in one; my favorite kinds of games are the ones that surprise you with their mechanics. Very difficult to pull off in a game jam. My only criticism really is that the Pong game felt way too slow, and I actually quit after a few minutes of no one scoring. Reading the comments now, I’m realizing that you can move left and right too, which I had no idea about! Maybe you could telegraph that somehow, whether with in-game text or something more subtle to get the player to realize they can do that. I’m so used to regular Pong I didn’t even consider it :)
Thank you for the suggestion! I think more player guidance would have helped the game quite a bit! Thanks for taking the time to write such a insightful comment!
As Cassidy said, we really appreciate you taking the time, and we wholeheartedly agree. We had grand plans at the beginning of the jam for more player queues/guidance, and even a second minigame if time allowed, but time got away from us much like the pong ball if you smack it too hard. lol
Destroyed a dog in Pong by exploiting the fact that my paddle could move left and right. Such game, such fun! But really, I had a great time and for some reason being able to bum rush the ball in pong had me laughing! The close up of the dog made him seem like a jump scare and I was always apprehensive even though I don't think that's at all what you were going for XD. I think the game could have benefitted from the boy walking faster to the neighbor's house and I also felt like I was getting caught on the edges of the sidewalk for some reason. Definitely a cute, quick, sad, and happy story.
At first, we coded it to be a more classic Pong, but we wanted to add a twist. Being able to move in all directions really adds some excitement. We then added the angles on the paddle to increase control. Thanks for the review, I am checking out reviewer's submissions today.
