" Hey Guys !
Quick comment to say that, in the rush of publishing the game, we forgot to disable Dashing and Double Jumping at the start.
If you want to experience the game as it was designed originally, we advise you NOT to use those abilities until you unlock them the proper way
Otherwise, if you're in for a quick test, then have fun messing around at full power, right from the start ^^ "
We HIGHLY encourage you to read our Itchio page, as it contains controls, and more informations on the state of the game ! :)
Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
We were a team of 5 people, we created all scripting and most assets ourselves

Really cool game, game felt a little clunky at times and slow with the animations and mechanics. Really cool art though but it is lacking in vibe and energy with no backing music track and only not much variety in sound coming from it. It doesn't feel like theres a lot of energy and life in it. Overall though there is definetly potential in this as the light mechanic where you throw your head about to see light in different places is very interesting and i highly recommend you lean further into this and brush up on the fighting mechanic as it feels very bare bones. Good job, lots of potential in this!

Thanks for testing the game, and for feedback, we'll try to sort out any issues with releasing an improved version of the game at the end of the jam. All of your feedback is very useful for us to better understand the player experience. Thank you
Can't play it... Only built for 64bit, mine is 32bit ;-;
sorry to hear that :/ We'll try to post a WebGL version after the votes, if you're still interested then
I am not sure what you used to make the light but it do looks like a sprite or a mixture of sprite and sprite mask. I think the game would looks better using 2d lights.
Very cool game, the actions and animations feels good. And I am glad you included controller support.
If you decide to keep developing this game after the jam, I am very curious what can this turns into.
Thanks for your feedback ! It's a bit awkward to say, but we did use 2D lights in the game, but I guess the way they get on top of another, multiplying their intensity in the process, is what made you think that. But you raised a perfectly valid point, and we'll add that to our 'to-do list' for the version we plan to release once the voting has ended. We look forward to your feedback on that version as well, and sure hope you'll enjoy it even more !
Interesting, I also not sure why I feel in that way then. And if you already using 2d lights, maybe you can also include 2d shadows ? It might take some work but I think it can really improve a game like this.
I am looking forward to your game.
Neat suggestion ! We'll be sure to look into that, seems like a good fit. Thank you :)
Great game, very atmospheric! Gave me major Hollow Knight vibes with the barriers you dash through. I love the lighting!
I think a little more of a tutorial would have been good to ease the player into the game. Doesn't need to be a text tutorial even, just like having a pit they need to jump out of, then a block they need to attack to break, etc, but with no other distractions. I was also unsure of what the lumins did
I'm not sure which of the abilities I was using was supposed to be unlocked from the start, like was the right click supposed to be unlocked? I wasn't too sure what that did, it didn't seem to do much when my head was on my body.
Also I love how the head gets separated from the body, that was a really cool mechanic! The enemy designs are great too!
Unfortunately my head got stuck in the ground so I was softlocked. Would love to give this game another shot though if the progression bug is fixed!
Thank you very much for your comment, we appreciate it a lot ! As for the tutorial issue, we indeed noticed that most players missed parts of the controls without one, or were a bit confused about what to do. As we had to cut parts of the production, due to time management, we couldn't implement a tutorial for the initial release, but rest assured we will repost a new updated version once the voting end, adding stuff we initially wanted to add, but couldn't because of time, as well as stuff that the community suggested, and that matched perfectly with our global view of the game. I sur hope you will try it once we release, as we thrive on feedback to improve ! :)
I'll be following this game, it has potential!
Everything is great except the fps. My fps is very low. Is the game meant to be that way? Anyway I really like the how Lumi lights up the surrounding and the way her head disconnected from her body when she got attacked. Good work! :D
We're sorry for the fps issue you encountered. It's the first time we've had this feedback and we'll see how to fix it! Thanks I hope you enjoyed the game anyway!
Neat animations.
thank you for your feedback!
I hope you enjoyed the game and its gameplay!
Awesome! It was fun to play, the graphical style was interesting and unique, and the sound design was very satisfying! The only drawback I found was the animations sometimes being a little wonky and delayed but, considering that didn't actually impact on gameplay, I got over it quite quickly! Good game :D
Thank you for your comment, we are very touched. The animations will be reworked so that it is much more fluid.
I hope you enjoyed it!
Cool entry! I think I explored the whole map. Was there any final boss?? Unfortunately I did not realize that the abilities had to be unlocked and that you had a bug. Nonetheless find my video review below:
1:30:00 Lumithank you very much for your feedback but also for your video which allows us to see how the player reacts to the game! it's a great idea to make a video. indeed, we planned to put a final boss but we did not necessarily have the time. We will continue to work on Lumi to improve the game. Thanks and we are sharing your video to the group members. thanks again!
Very cool game! I wish the controls were a bit easier on the hands (I'm a big stickler for controls that are all bunched up), but the art, sounds and feel of the game is top notch! Great Jam game! And thanks for playing mine :D
thank you very much for your reply ! indeed, we are working on smoother controls but also on how to guide the player correctly. I hope you enjoyed playing it!
i like the dark style of the art! I think that the jumping / landing animation is kinda weird, you should split them in two different states.. The design of the character is very cool though, and the idea of the extra abilities that the head gives you is nice! Good job!!
Thank you for your feedback it's nice. We will continue to work on the game to improve it. Don't hesitate to follow us if you are interested;)
I'm really impressed you made a Metroidvania within a week. There are some bugs and the controls are a little rough around the edges (especially the melee which felt a little sluggish - adding more knockback to enemies would probably help, too), but it's a great starting point for something more. If you decide to turn this into a full-fledged game, I'll play it.
Tank you very much for your feedback, we're currently looking into ways to make this game on a bigger scale, so support like yours is always deeply appreciated !
There were a few bugs, like the head glitched into the ground and I can kill enemies through walls,
other than that it's a nice game!
Thank you for reporting those, we're currently working on fixing them in order to publish a fine tuned version at the end of the vote. Glad you have enjoyed it tho, it means a lot to us !
Very cool idea! I was gonna say it reminds me of Yoshi Story DS ,when you got hit the baby you carry is sent flying arround in a bubble and you have to get it back, but I was thinking that because I didn't know you could call Lum i back, I just find out now :) Also, I just discovered the head-throwing mechanic as well. It would be nice to have a pause menu with some instructions for example. Besides that the art is nice and once you understand the mechanics it gets fun, I enjoyed throwing my head at the enemies (even tho I couldn't kill them with that technique). If you plan on keep developing it I would sugest giving more mechanics to the head when it is out of the body, for example letting the player throw it arround even if it's not in the body, there can be some intresting ideas with de-ataching the head, having to do some stuff out of the body in order to solver a puzzle or so, and the recovering your head to continue. Anyway, good job guys, I'm looking forward to see an upgraded version when the voting is over!
Thank you very much for your comment ! You can count on the fact we'll AT LEAST publish a more polished version of the game once the voting ends (possibly with a Boss at the end of the level, to finish in with a big fight), but we're looking into ways to make it into a more or less 'proper' game eventually, and the puzzle mechanics involving Lumi is one of the ideas we're looking into actually, so thanks once again for that contribution :)
haha! this game was rly fun and the lighting rly made this gmae seem cool. :D
Though.. the lighting can some times be terrifying ;)
Some music would also make the game rly cool and i somehow was able to use the dash before i unlocked it xD.
i still wonder how people can make games like htis in such a short period of time. good joB!
very well polished and done game.
ps. i left a god rating ;)
Wow, thank you very much for your comment, which means a lot to us! Yes, we found some bugs in the skills that are unlocked before accessing them ahah but this will be fixed soon! For the music, we'll integrate it later, unfortunately we didn't have time :(
I will test your game tonight! Thanks again!
ty! np! though bugs were very minor! great job! haha u dont have to look at my game lmao. ive only had 2 months of game dev experience and i created mine as a solo xD. im still rpoud tho cause its my 2nd ever made published game.
Being proud is the best thing and that's why we all participate in the jam. Nice mentality!
ty!
Really beautiful metroidvania.
Very nice lighting effects and atmosphere, the ambient sound adds a lot.
I enjoyed the game a lot but I found some issues which I'll share so you can fix them later if you'd like :)
- After dying and going back to the manu the cursor is still gone
- In the place where you first learn the throw head skill and use it to break the platform benath you I fell all the way down but my head stayed somewhere up there and I couldn't get to it without my abillites :(
- I have tested for a bit to make sure, so either I'm missing something or the jump to the dash skill orb is not possible without double jump, which you shouldn't have at that time.
Thank you for your feedback. Your comment is useful because we can see that some mechanics are not explicit enough for some people. So we need to create a tutorial!
Thank you because it allows us to progress more efficiently in the production of the game.
I hope you still enjoyed our game!
It feels a little weird to control but the art and sounds are great! Good job!
We are going to rework the controls so that it is much more fluid and therefore easier to master.
Thank you very much for your feedback, I hope you had fun!
The idea is really great, the controls are a little strange but for a jam a game with upgrades as you collect items is a big win already, just the dark was a little too much, there had one spider that give me a game over because i couldn't see it and it throw me down far from the head, and some times lumi gon into a wall and that made me lose a lot of light because i needed to wait lumi fall slowly down, but great game, had fun playing it, hope you plan to do more of it.
We appreciate your feedback because it will help us to work on our gambling and some of its problems.
Thank you very much for your feedback and we hope you had a lot of fun.
I like the designing part ... it was osm , i loved it but I think you can work more on controls part..
Thank you for your feedback.
Yes, we see what you mean and we will really focus on this to make Lumi the best it can be!
Hope you enjoyed it!
Nice game, I had a bug in after about 10-15 minutes of playing where the head got stuck inside a platform and I couldn't get it back, should be an easy fix tho..
Overall it's a nice metroidvania game. I'd happy to have those power ups like the dash and double jump affect the combat in a way, because right now it's about the platforming bits, and the combat got left behind.
The sound design is nice. I like what you did with the 3d audio when you're without your head.
Nice graphics.
Well done!
thank you very much for this very positive feedback!
Indeed, we have noticed a bug with the Lumi head that gets stuck in some platforms! We will fix it as soon as possible!
We're glad you enjoyed the game.
Thanks again!
Hey, I think you game is looking very promising. I'm getting some Hollow Knight vibes :). The mechanics are solid, sounddesign is nicely done, art and lighting on point, and I really love the charakter design.
I'm definitely missing some music here though, and I would keep the sword sounds centered in the panning (and I will stop the audio nerd talk here ^^)
Some details can be improved, for example the melee responsiveness as well as the enemy attacks. Also I somehow managed to kind of break the Lumi launching (which I quite like).
Over all, In my opinion, it is definitlly a very promising and already nice looking game, keept it up! :)
Thank you for your feedback.
As you said so well, hollow knight is one of our greatest references.
Due to time constraints, we were not able to finish everything as we wanted! As you said: adding music, programming problems, animations... We will work on it!
We're glad you enjoyed the game anyway!
