In what way does your game fit the theme?
The chaos comes from the gameplay itself. Rapidly flying through the map trying to remember which obstacle comes next and deciding which move to use makes for an unforgiving and challenging experience.

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I wrote all of the code and made all of the sprites. The background images and the music are not mine, the original artists are credited in-game.

Interesting game, I'm not sure if its chaotic enough to fit the theme tho. I agree with past comments on perhaps making the different jumps more distinct and memorable. Checkpoints would also be a good addition.

Ok game :| main reason is controls are Very bad:(

Its pretty good and I enjoy runners, but I had similar issues to others though with the keys being kinda arbitrary to the action making it harder to remember, and also it would be useful to store a slide/jump in the air for a split second so if you press a button a split second before landing it doesnt just not do anything. Im sure its intentionally hard but if you wanted to make it a bit easier you could choose different actions (like the slide) rather than 3 jumps that require a lot more thought to select between. The music was good, I liked the character and animations. Sorry if this feedback sounds like an attempt to dumb it down.

Developer

I really appreciate all the feedback! I especially like the idea the idea of storing the move for a second to make it easier to do things right after landing, I think that would make the movements feel a lot better.

Uhhh, this game is a pure hardcore from flappybird times. I like the variativety, you can overcome obstacles by different ways. Trying again and again you train your reflexes like playing musical instrument. I like the character and it's animation.

This game is fun, though I think it could be even more fun with some checkpoints after every several obstacles, unless only developers wanted to make it hardcore. Good job guys!

At first it was interesting that there was more than just move and jump, but after multiple tries it was only confusing especially that assigned buttons weren't intuitive.
I didn't like that glide was separated from the jump.
For me slide is not sensitive enough and I died many times only because I pressed slide button, but character didn't slide before spikes.

Pixel art looks good, but blurry/compressed on some parts.

I had problem with remembering level order so I had to give up. At first I thought that I could glide easily above all platforms, but good level design blocked using glide on close platforms.

Hi there!

First of all, i want to say that this game looks very good and all the different jumps feel good. But there are a few things you could improve:

1. Choose different keys for the jumps.

2. Maybe make it so you don't have one tutorial in the beginning, but rather split it up and only introduce the different jumps when you need them.

3. I noticed that sometimes lines start popping up between tiles. Maybe you also notcied that and you can try many different things like disabling anti-aliasing, but the approach in this video fixed it for me:

That said, this still is a very polished and fun game, kinda reminds me of geometry dash. I hope my feedback helped you, and it would be cool if you could check out my submission too. Thanks! :)

Very fun game, it's hard to memorize all the moves at first. Pressing the wrong button at the wrong time leads to funny face-palm moments lol.

Nice runner game with a well done intro tutorial. I had fun playing it.

I thought all of this was just spectacular :) I thought the controls were hard at first but that added to my experience, it was meant to be chaotic after all! I am pleased with this game. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for the kind words!

Well done, I'm happy to have played which game this lil sprite ended up in!

I think I made something like 20-30 attempts before I gave up. I got to the section with the double spike 'balls' to jump over and could never get back. Probably not my type of game. It turns out feeling like a pure memorization game and I think I hit my limit. It'd be nice to have some sort of indicator for which type of jump is coming up. You still have to time and execute it, so it wouldn't be sacrificing all skill, but it would make the game completable by plebs like me lol.

Overall, it's a great looking package. I like the SFX and that each jump has it's own feel. Great job and congrats on finishing the jam!

Developer

Thanks for checking it out!

It's funny that you mentioned an indicator, I toyed around with that idea when I was first brainstorming the game design. A big inspiration was the SNES Battletoads game which has a level where you're driving full speed and indicators would pop up and you'd have to quickly react and dodge the obstacles. With the mechanics I wanted to implement here though it felt like it would turn into a "press the button on the screen" game without much of a challenge for the player.

I'm actually a big fan of the "painstakingly memorize the level" type of game. It's definitely not everyone's favorite and it's probably not an ideal format for a game jam where people aren't trying to spend TOO much time on a game. If I did want to build this game out and give a wider appeal I think a good move would be to add a lot of checkpoints and have shorter sections that the player has to try and figure out how to traverse.

I really appreciate your feedback and I really enjoyed your game! This is my first game jam (and my first game) and it's great seeing what everyone brings to the table. Safe to say I'll be doing more of these in the future!

Well, if you're a fan of this type of gameplay, then you succeeded! :)

Congrats on completing your first jam and first game! It's an exciting journey, I just started this year with Ludum Dare 48 and this is my 4th. I'm glad you had a good time. Good luck on your jam journey!

Very fun and addictive game! The keyboard layout is a bit weird but I managed to get used to it in the end :)

Enjoyable selection of jump types - took a few tries to remember which key did which.
Simple art style but seems to work and like the character animations for the different jumps.
