a nice idea i love playing it keep it up!
This was such a cool game that I actually found myself playing longer than I had intended. I thought it was a normal western shooter and then the little twist that comes mid way through really grabbed me in. I didn't get to finish it because I think it glitched out for me at the end, but I was really engrossed in the game you made. Great job!
Some feedback if you wanted: I had to move the gun anytime there was dialogue since the UI was behind some of the in game assets (like the gun). I would probably move the UI to be the top most layer so this doesn't happen. I would also try and incentivize the player to try and shoot around a bit more. I found myself just finding the object that gave me the most points and just kept my mouse there and clicked away. I also never found myself running out of ammo. Did I miss something, or was there something in the scene that refilled it for me?
Otherwise, this game was a lot of fun and more people should play it through. Great job!
Thanks for your feedback! I deliberately set the UI to render that way, for reasons I have totally forgotten now! Ammo was refilled automatically throughout the game. Reloading is hard-coded right now to happen at certain points in the round sequence. Some players fire all their shots rapidly, whereas others were more conservative with their ammo; so it's difficult to find a balance where players can be challenged but also not be bored because they can't shoot. I do want to rethink the ammo system, especially there are certain points the player can soft lock the game by firing all their shots and not hit the specific target the game is waiting for them to hit!
Hey!
First of all, congrats for finishing the game! It looks really amazing, I love the idea of carboards. The sounds are really good, however there was a little noise in the background always, it was a little unpleasant to hear it all the time. I thing it would be amazing if you could add a sensitivity option because the gun was moving really fast for me, still, I got some pretty nice scores. Other than that, the game was really nice, I saw your comment below and I understand how this game fits the theme, awesome!
Nonetheless, you did an amazing work and the game looks really good, congrats!
I would love to have you playing mine too, if you don't mind of course! ^_^
I wonder what's going on with the sensitivity? I thought I programmed the reticle to just go to the cursor! That buzzing is the sound of the lights ( made to sound like fluorescent lights). I put it there to make the gallery a little more creepy!
I think the sound was cool, but maybe make it 3 seconds long and play it every 30 seconds or something, to make sure doesn't get annoying.
i dont know how it fits theme but i rated 5/5 game desing, graphicks, audio(i like it)
please play my game too
---Heavy spoilers for people who haven't played it yet---
You could either interpret it as 'the shooting gallery is not real' since it's not actually a western setting with cardboard cutouts, or you could see it as the game telling you that 'the bandits are not real people' by hiding them under the cutout illusion.
And I caught this just before going to bed, but I'll be sure to check out your game when I wake up!
good i now understand how it fits theme
This is an amazing game. That sound effects really set the shooting range vibe and the switch between real and not real is surreal. I think you have done a great job with this game.
(can you rate my game)
Thank you for playing! I'll be sure to check out your game as soon as I'm on my computer!
This game was done so well!! The audio and sound effects were great and added so much to the game! The concept of the game was great and it fitted the theme so well. The increasing speed and audio added a lot to the intensity. The 3d models and the targets looked amazing and it all game together so well. The shooting controls were really smooth and fun. The way it changed between targets and real people, and the alternating different enemies from animals to people to cans allowed for the game to be constantly fun and never get boring! And the different points for head shots was a great touch. The blood particles and grey colours added a very unique aspect to the game. 5/5 in each category
Thank you so much!
This was so well done! The shooting mechanics and the set was fun to play with, and the lighting, music, and difficulty all ramped up steadily to keep the stress and fear rising while keeping gameplay interesting! All I would suggest is to have a bit more variety in the models, but of course its a game jam so its excellent for a weeks work! 5/5 in every aspect from me!
Ah! Thank you so much!!
Super cool horror effects and awesome audio to go with it, you really can't make a feeling of uneasiness without good audio, and you definitely delivered.
Creepy game, but well put together! Don't know if I'll ever be able to play another target practice game without double checking that the targets are fake haha! Good work!
Glad it had the intended effect!
Awesome game! I love the atmosphere it was really creepy, also the music for the last part of the game was really good and you should upload it to spotify
Glad you enjoyed it, but unfortunately the only original song for the jam was the ragtime piano piece that I wrote. The song that plays at the end was Marchen Bach Jam Cream by Milky-Chu
Really nicely done! had a lot of fun with this. At first I was thinking "Oh cheery, how fun!", but by the end I was traumatized (in a good way lol). Obviously the biggest thing to work on to improve the game is the ui font and particles, but that's a pretty small detail of what turned out to be a horrific, brilliant experience. Well done!
Really well done. I really liked the old gun range aesthetic And the later sections were really unnerving. An interesting idea created well. My only comment might be that the text was somewhat difficult to read sometimes.
This game is so good. Which game engine?
Thanks for playing! This was made in Unity.
Great. My game is made in Gdevelop. Pls rate it if you don't mind. Thanks - https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-7/rate/1418152
I was just enjoying headshotting some cardboard, didn't expect that to happen. At the end though, I just ran out of bullets and nothing spawned anymore. Really good work here!
That's odd. The game is supposed to reset the round if you don't meet the requirements to pass. Glad you enjoyed though!
Creepy and fun. Only downside is the sound effects get tiresome when you start shooting a lot of stuff.
i really like it! but when you shoot a lot of target at a short time the sound is a bit annoying but great job!
Yeah, we probably should've lowered the volume on those and maybe varied them a bit so it wasn't as repetitive. But I'm glad you enjoyed it regardless!
You made me really tryhard, good job
Love that atmosphere nice job
That was creepy! Can’t think of anything else to say, really :D Great job!
Interesting and weird.
