I have a lot of problems with controls, but i like this unrealistic word

Developer

Sorry about the controls

Very cool game. I really like the undertale like style. Glitching level looks very cool. Regarding feedback, I'm not a huge fan of the controls. They are uncomfortable. Bind the action functionality to, for example, F button. Overall I really like this game. Great job!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback.

Really weird but nice game. The visuals are lovely & the music fit the ambiance nicely.

Few feedbacks:

The attacks name are not very intuitive & you kinda have to try them all to guess what they do.

Also the ennemies could really use a health bar. (but that's more of a personal taste than a must do :) )

Appart from that, a pretty solid & intertesting game. great work :)

Thanks for the feedback

Love the glitch world feel! The way the music, graphics and dialogue with characters are changed is cool. Makes the player curious about what is causing all this / what deeper meaning is behind it! The crab fight felt a bit tedious to me.

Developer

Thanks for playing.

This game was really fun. I enjoyed the turn based combat (although I just spammed psychosis, and dream when low). The only thing I felt it was missing was a background for the turn based parts. It was a little weird seeing a crab on top of the crab. Overall one of my favorites from this jam.

Developer

Thanks for playing. Sorry about the background, it is a bug in fullscreen on the WebGL version.

I really liked the combat system but maybe you could have made it so that you have limited amounts of uses per ability so that you can't just always heal when you're low... I rellay enjoyed the game and the sounds and dialog was really well made!

Developer

Thanks, I had magic points originally but ran out of time to implement them fully so I took it out.

Great art and the aesthetic is much more constant than those have to put different online resources together.

Developer

Thank you for the compliments

I had a very entertaining time playing it, I loved the storyline. Great job!

Thank you

I really like your artstyle, especially the monsters you fight.

The fights sadly take too long and have very few tactical possibilites. The glicht made them faster XD

The music and sound is fine.

Great job on finishing your game!

Thanks for the feedback

I loved this game, cool aesthetic, it really makes you feel that you are in a dream, i just got a little confused when said "press return" instead of "press enter" (english isn't my first language), i pressed enter guessing it was the correct button, (maybe the problem is with me? I don't know how common is to use return instead of enter), overall, for me this was a really good and fun game to play

Developer

Thanks, sorry about the confusion. I guess I'm just old but the Enter key used to only be Return now they are kind of interchangeable.

Cool game, please also check out my game!

Good job on the game! doesnt quite fit the theme of the jam but im still surprised on how much you manged to get done since all of the artwork and coding are completly original. If you were to go to another gamejam try making a bit smaller game and make it more polished - not saying your game isnt polished, as the art is great, especially the final boss, in youre case by "polish: i mean to balance things a bit better and add more to fighting to have some more vareity so the fighting doesnt get too repetetive, all in all tho its an amazing game!

Check out my game too if you have the time. It would be a big help :)

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. I just make the games I want to during jams to have fun and challenge myself.

You nailed the disturbing eldritch tone with the narrative, visuals and sound! However, aside from that, the game doesn't fit the theme as it's just generic RPG battling with pretty repetitive gameplay. Wish there was some strategy! If you were to turn this into a full game you would need to get a main mechanic that enhances and brings out the creepy tone of the game!

In my opinion, the main takeaway from this jam game is to shrink your game's scope because it feels too big, like you were trying to create an epic meta-narrative but ran out of time! Jam games should be short, sweet and polished playable ideas that, if works, could be turned into a full release post-jam!

Still,  I think you did a good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your feedback. I just make jam games to challenge me and have fun. This is what I wanted to make so I did. If people like it that's cool, if not, that's cool too. No worries.

Very nice pixel art and music. Loved the effects on screen and the sound when the world starts getting corrupted. Btw i discovered an exploit. If you spam the control button fast enough you can skip the enemy player's turn and keep attacking.  Also I saw 2 people worked on this game but only one name is listed in the credits. Does https://tengusheath.itch.io/ belong to both people? Still nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you. Yea I found the control button bug on the last day and didn't have time to fix it. The other person is my brother who did the music for me. He doesn't have an itch account.

I loved it! It reminded me of Earthbound and amazing to see so much done in a short time!

Developer

Thank you very much. Glad it reminded you of Earthbound that was the vibe I was going for.
