I definitely felt more and more in the theme as the game continued.  The combat got tedious very quickly.  Some indication of what my attacks were doing would have helped me have more fun by developing a strategy or at least feeling like my moves had an impact.

Thanks for the feedback

I really like where this game is going! Love the Eldritch inspiration with the RPG gameplay.

Having CTRL as interact was a bit weird though. Otherwise with some polishing of your combat mechanics and design it'd be a really good game

Developer

Thank you

As a person that likes games with a Call of Cthulhu vibe, I really liked this! You were able to tell a short story in a nice way. Well done!

Thanks so much

I think this is a really cool style. Would love to see it expanded upon. I would tweak combat to show the HP of the enemy and to make it faster.

I found a bug. If I spam Ctlr then I can keep attacking without ever getting hit.

Edited to add that Ctlr is an odd choice for the Action button. I kept trying E without looking at the instructions and had to look at the game page to know what the controls were.

Thanks for the feedback. I caught that bug on the last day and didn't have time to fix it.

I liked the environment, but the combat progresses too slow. Also could use some checkpoints.

Thanks for the feedback

Very cool game! I like the options when you are fighting

very cool, reminds me of earthbound (which is one of my favorite games, always a good thing in my book :3c), i loved the "corruption" phase where the whole world became a garbled mess, i feel like that can be expanded into a very epic story! overall, good job! :D

Developer

Thanks, I was influenced by Earthbound so glad you liked it.

This felt very reminiscent of Earthbound! I'm amazed at how you showed us what the game's prologue and climax would look like in just a short amount of time. I'd love to see a full version of it someday!

Developer(+1)

I wanted this to be heavily influenced by Earthbound so if it reminds you of it I did what I set out to do. Thank you

Very funny, I just would have liked to see the life of the enemy.

I loved the art of the enemies during the battles, especially the final boss looks epic! I do wish they had an health indicator. Well done!

Developer

Thanks, I spent a lot of time on the final boss art.

Very neat and simple turn-based RPG

Developer

Thanks

Very neat idea. Really liked the glitching in both the background and the music. They add a lot to the atmosphere during the second half of the game. Wished there to be an enemy health bar to know how far they are from defeating, but other than that i have no complains. Great game!

Developer

Thank you, I'll keep in mind the health bars.

Very nice! I love the art. The glitchy effect was sick!

This is also the first game I've seen in this jam with combat like this. Very well done!

Developer

Thank you, I wanted to try a different genre that most people wouldn't so I chose an RPG. I've seen one other game that used turn-based combat.

Decent game, the narrative was alright, however, there isn't really much about this game that fits the theme other than the narrative. The battle art was really well-done, but that makes art style of the environment fall in contrast. The music and sound effects were little but they served their purpose and overall not bad. The gameplay was repetitive, but easy which incentivizes the player to keep progressing, leaning heavily towards the story than gameplay, which was a good decision! Using control for actions were a bit whacky, I sometimes end up pressing ctrl s which saves the page XD Overall well-made, Good job! :D

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. The detailed battle art was done for humorous effect. Originally it was more in line with the environment but I thought it would be funny to have your character shift into a serious buff looking hero in battles. Sorry about the controls, I completely forgot about that while testing on desktop.

Submitted(+1)

Really nice, the arts are well crafted. The battle system is kinda simple, I just repeat using sleep and wake.

Developer

Thanks. I wish I had more time to flesh out the battle system.

Like the game art, quality and overall the story looks cool. Altough the fight mechanics would need a bit more depth to also. also having control has your action button can cause to some trouble when the game is a browser since its the shortcut key. By example i kept saving the game by accident. But overall really like it!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. Yea sorry about the controls. I wasn't even thinking about that while testing on desktop. Next time I'll remember to stay away from shortcut keys.

Wonderfully done, I'm glad I didn't get a seizure but other than that I was engaged the whole time!

Developer

Thanks, I'm glad you didn't get a seizure too.

Im impressed you did everything yourself! I really liked the whole aesthetic of your world/art. Music was a good bop too :) Felt nice exploring around + battling, and the glitchy effect was cool too :)

Developer

Thanks so much
