Neat game!  I love the gameplay of it and the way it makes you think about how to clear each level!  The art was amazing as well, and overall, you did a great job of juicing this game!

Developer

Thank you! :) I tried very hard to make the levels force you to think more laterally. I'm happy to hear that about the art, that also was quite time consuming just because I wanted to make it look polished. Tysm for playing and leaving feedback!!

Such an amazing game! the art was amazing although the light felt kind of undetailed and bland in comparison to all the amazing art. the music while a bit simple served its job and the sfx were quite good and juicy. Overall a great game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I tried to make the art as well as I could. Originally the laser had a texture which I quite liked, but the way I programmed the lasers made them render in a weird way (light renderers in unity use a mesh and sometimes the triangles in the mesh will connect to the wrong point, so it made a weird shape) because I just made it a line renderer and then updated the points every frame. The texture rendered properly but the shape was weird. I fixed it by making 1 line renderer per horizontal/vertical line, and it just instantiates a new one every time it reflects off of something, but this made the texture render weirdly in the corners so I just removed the sprite and made it one colour. There was probably a way to fix this, but I'm not smart enough lol. Sorry for the kinda long explanation haha.  Yeah, I agree the music was pretty lacking. Next time I will definitely try improve and spend more time refining the music. I just used sfxr for the sfx because sound isn't my thing either, but I'm happy with how it turned out (I probably should have added more sound tho). I really appreciate you playing the game and leaving feedback!! :)

great game hidden gem

Developer

Thank you! I really appreciate it ^^

The game wouldn't let me progress past the first level! :( But I can already tell that it is very well made, great job!

Developer

Hey, could you not get past because of a bug or was it not clear how to do it (I was a bit worried about it not being clear what to do since this is my first game jam). Hopefully the video below can help :)

One of my favorite games I've gotten to play so far this jam!! The levels are really well designed and left me stumped right for a moment, but I was able to figure it out after playing around (the perfect amount lol). The way you introduced and used some of the mechanics was great. Loved the artstyle as well :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I'm really happy you liked it. I put a lot of effort into the level design (I've never made a puzzle game before which is why it took most of my time for the game) so its rlly validating that you would say that!! :)  Most of the design principles are from GMTK videos and things like that, so I didn't really come up with any of the principles I just applied them. Tysm for playing the game and leaving feedback!

Seriously solid entry, very good job on the level design

Developer

Thank you! I was very pleased with the level design.

Really, really cool game! I have nothing bad to say, just everything seems nice and polished. Good Job!

Developer

Thank you! I really appreciate the kind words.

what a great puzzle! I had a great time with this one! The only complain is that the mirror could be a little bit heavier to prevent so much slinding.

#ridethelight!!!

Please, play my game too, if you have the time!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I tried really hard to make the puzzles the best that I could (I've never done puzzle design before). I agree the mirror blocks are a bit slidey, which can be kinda frustrating so I'll make sure  to not make that mistake again!

I see you found my dev art haha! The thing you see to your left was what my prototype of the player looked like, but thankfully I didn't have to look at it for too long before I made the art. I'll have a look at your game now!!

The concept of this game is really unique! I also love how it looks, you really did an amazing job!

I just rated your game, maybe you can do the same on mine ^_^

Developer

Thank you! I'm rlly happy you liked the art. I'll leave a rating over on your game now :)

This was such a pleasant surprise! The puzzles feel good and the feedback of the nightmares popping like a chain reaction is a great touch!

Developer

Thank you! The level design is what I spent the most time on, so I’m glad it paid off. I was really happy with how the nightmares turned out, they went through many iterations as it really wanted to get them right. I rlly appreciate you playing and giving feedback!!

pretty fun game and very polished too! my only nitpick is the lack of feedback when the light is damaging the creatures.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I tried to make the game as polished as I could in the short time frame. Honestly, I think that there is a general lack of feedback, not just when the light hits the nightmare things, and I think it would benefit a lot from just more feedback in general (as you said the light damaging them, but also things like going up with the light and even stuff like jumping). For future projects I'll definitely try add more feedback for the things the player does. Tysm for playing the game and also leaving feedback, it will be rlly useful for any future projects I do.

This game single handedly generated the best puzzles in the jam! Please expand upon this it was an amazing experience!

Developer(+1)

I'm really glad you liked it! The level design is what took the most time out of everything in this game, and I still only managed to get 6 good puzzles in (this is my first time making a puzzle game), so I'm happy it was worth the effort. I think I didn't explore the mechanics fully in the few levels I made, and I had a lot of ideas that I scrapped due to time, so I will try make a more expanded version when I have time! I really can't thank you enough for spending your time playing this game!

Really cool game, the menu/tutorial is a neat idea, the introduction of new mechanics through level design is smooth, and the art sets a really nice mood. Bonus points for the moving eyes, adds a lot to the nightmarish/swarming vibe!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!! I've watched a lot of videos on puzzle design so I've tried to incorporate some of the things the more experienced people do. I really appreciate that you liked the art ^^ that was one of the things that I put a lot of time into doing (well as much time as I could in a 1 week jam). The nightmarish things are heavily inspired by Celeste, they're basically a combination of the blob things in Chapter 3 and the following eyes in Chapter 5, so they're not completely my idea but they are something I iterated on to get right.

Cool! The art was great and the mechanics are fun. Nice job!

Developer

Thank you. I tried to make the art as best as I could (i’m not the best at pixel art) so im glad you think it was good!

yo the mechanics & artstyle are great, real fun to play. Great Puzzle platformer

Wow, this is your first jam? Surely you had previous experience with game dev right?

You game is really nice and visually polished, I really liked the concept of it!

The only thing missing really would be some sounds/music.

But otherwise it is a really great really game, congrats!

Edit: OMG, my headset was in sleep mode that's why I had no sound...

Developer

Yes, I've got a WIP bigger game that I'm working on atm that I started in September, but that's my first game. I've done a lot of stuff in JavaScript (which is pretty similar to C# so it wasn't too hard to pick up), and I've also been doing pixel art for quite a while.
Tysm! It means a lot to me that you liked it.
The audio is kinda lacking (even if your headset isn't in sleep mode) since this is the first time I've done anything like that, so if I do something like this again I'd like to spend more time trying to make it more polished.
I really appreciate you leaving feedback on this! It'll help me a bunch with knowing what to improve on in future projects.
