How does you game fit the theme?
Entrapped in a strange facility, you find your way to the exit through the use of shadows - creating blocks from nothing and entrances where there would otherwise be none. All you have is Emmett, your happy-go-lucky Companion Cube (Not to be confused with Portal's CC). As you make your way out, you begin to question what's real.
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
yes... everything except for a single song(not copyrighted)

I'm really intrigued by this game concept and am really sad I couldn't see more of it. I got stuck on the first level. Hopefully you work on this after the Jam so I can come back and play when we all have more time to polish our games. Good Job!
Yeah we definitely will be working more on the game, infact we already are working hard at making it better. Thanks to all of the feedback we've learnt that the main part to focus on is the "tutorial" part since everybody is struggling to grasp the mechanics, so we will definitely work on that!
ps. look at the gifs on the store page on a hint or even solution to the first levels ;)
The concept for this game is very good but once figured out that I could grab the shadow I didn't know what to do with it, and I got stuck on the first level.
Hi, happy to be your 20th rater! The graphics are really cool, and I especially liked how you put the menu in the game on a computer, but in some levels I could not find it. If you did not put the menu computer in every level, you probably should, so that there are no levels where you don't have access to it.
If you plan on polishing the game after the jam, I'd also recommend adding some kind of tutorial, because I was having a hard time figuring out how to interact and what to interact with. It would also contribute to the Portal vibes. We used a GLADoS AI voiceover in our tutorial, the gameplay is very different, but the atmosphere is similar.
Overall, an innovative and good-looking game, and some little improvements would make it even more fun.
Thanks for being the 20th rater! :D also thank you for the feedback, when it comes to the computers missing in some of the levels, thats due to us adding them last second and forgetting to add them to all of the levels thanks to sleep deprivation:)
We definitely plan to polish the game and improve on the concept so we appreciate the recommendations!
Very well cured in the details, the arts is neat and enjoyable. Game play is a bit tricky but once you get the grip on it then the game is funny. Well done!
Good luck!

A little hard to get a hang of but extremely fun once you do.

Cool game, nice effort really enjoyed and i loved the lights ;D
Rated!
would u like to do the same 4 me? it'll be a great help https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-7/rate/1418965
The idea is interesting, but it took me a while to figure out how to interact with the shadows. And I just started clicking and dragging everything in level 2 to get past it.
Really nice concept! The idea of using shadows as concrete objects is a cool idea.
very interesting idea! i was a bit confused until i realized i could grab the shadows, and the game's pretty challenging, but overall it's very cool! :D
Rated your Game !!! can you check out mine too? It'd be a huge help if you do rate mine!,
Thank you so much!
here's mine: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-7/rate/1415313
VERY cool mechanic! However, the game kinda lacked hints or instructions so i was clueless (up until you showed me how the game works). Also It's a bit too bright for me, so my eyes are not able to keep up with the game for a long time. Pretty fun!
Oh also it's a bit spooky to me due to all of the shadows.
I had to read a few comments to understand that I could use the shadows as blocks lol I love that concept! I wish the levels were easier to understand but all up I think this is a brilliant game! well done!
Visuals are really good here! I loved the 3D models and lighting. Good job on that! But I got really stuck on lamp puzzle at the very beggining. Am I missing something?
Unfortunately we didn't manage to teach the mechanics properly, but if you would like to try again, the main mechanic involves shadows, you should be able to figure things out by interacting with them :D
Another thing that's really not well explained is that you can rotate the light in the second level, that's our bad
You can also see both of these mechanics in the gif's on the submission page, as we tried to explain them retroactively XD
Anyway, thanks a lot for trying the game out!
I love this game, being able to grab your shadow is so creative. Your graphics are great as well, the computer screen looks so well made. I also love the lens distorting when you enter into a new level. My only suggestion is to maybe guide the player a little more in the beginning, I was really confused as to what to do. Aside from that I love this and think its great!
Thanks a lot for playing! We tried teaching the mechanics intuitively in the first few levels without needing a tutorial, but we didn't exactly manage to do that :D
It also didn't help that the first 2 levels were done very close to the deadline, so they ended up having less thought put into them, then the later levels, even thought they're arguably more important XD
I really like the atmosphere and the cool computer menu, but I think there could've been more help to understand what was going on, especially in the first level where you need to get a basic understanding of the game to learn and progress. Even just text explaining the controls would go a long way.
Graphics are great! I'm not even mad seeing the probuilder default texture cause of the lighting design, I saw that things broke on build, but I think this game has a lot of promise! Super cool concept and design in the beginning too
The idea is brilliant but I had a lot of trouble to understand it. I was stuck for a long time in the first level until I realised that you could grab the shadow. I am kinda stuck on level two I don't really know what to do I figured out that you can rotate the light but I don't see any exit? The music is a nice touch and I found a bug where when you restart the level you hear the music twice. I really like the idea and the in game menu was a cool solution!
Yeah we didnt have time to test the built version and apperantly after compiling the game, almost everything is broken, within unity itself everything works perfectly and you dont get stuck on level 2, also we tried creating the tutorial through implication instead of words, but its too... not obvious, i defenetly want to keep working on it and fix all of the weird inconsistencies and bugs since we simply didnt have enough time to properly finish this game.
if you would like to get to the next levels to try them out ill tell you a mechanic that i failed to teach the player... walking into a shadow on the wall casted by the white light will bring you to the next level
Well, I have to say I've got stuck on the second level but it's indeed a nice concept. The only thing I can say about this game is to play around with baked lights. With it, your game would look much better.
really nice game with a good atmosphere. Took me while to figure out what going on and i will be probaly stucked in first level without hint XD .
