Fun game! I think I would have enjoyed the total sound bar to cooldown after a while, that way you can also charge it up when you're just regular walking and there are moments of still to bring it down. For a game about noise I was super surprised that there was no audio at all, it might be my browser or computer but I couldn't hear anything throughout the whole game, I think that would really elevate the experience. Super cool graphics though and I loved the story!
Any chance you could rate mine? I'm almost at 20 but just a few votes short. Thanks!
Nice little game!Good job!
I liked the concept. As you mentioned, you had to cut corners and that is normal in a jam. If you had the time you should have highlighted the noise bar a bit, it's black in a dark background. It's hard to know what can you interact with. And the movement mechanic needed some thought, it's really slow and if you sprint you just get caught, no strategy involved. For instance, maybe you could only sprint when he is snoaring so he won't hear you, you could have a time limit that forced you to use sprint, etc. I liked the graphics, sound would help a lot, especially because the game is about being quiet.
I like the concept. I can definitely relate in real life to noisy neighbors. There is potential for this to be something more.
Thanks for the feedback. The game is actually HEAVILY inspired by my neighbour. Actually he again did some constructions while I was thinking about the topic -.-.
And also I like to hear that you see there more potential in it. Because I want to continue working on it as a serious long-term-project. Because I think: many have these kind of neighbours and at least to me it was satisifying to imagine that this really would be his appartement :D.
Idea is cool. Sound would have been great and movement was painfully slow.
Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately there wasn't enough time for me to introduce sound. And for the idea to work the movement has to be so slow - but for the idea to work the appartement would have required more things. So I get your point and for the current state of the game you're right. But making him faster would make the "running" useless - which means: even less content. Therefor it had to stay that way.
A very short story (only really 1 thing to pick up and throw away), but an interesting concept.
Thank you. Yes due to time pressure (and missunderstanding of jam-end-date) I had to cut a lot of corners. But people so far seems to like the concept which is valuable to me because I want to continue working on the game.
Indeed, the time pressure is always a problem! But yeah, I bet the game can be made way more fun if you keep working on it, good luck :)
An interesting take on the theme. The addition of sound effects would have made the game much more immersive as noise is a central element of the game. I also found the game to be quite slow. The sprinting doesn't really serve any purpose other than to make the time pass faster.
You are fully right with the sound. But unfortunately I just weren't having the time to add those. Well the sprinting should be just sprinting with the downside of producing noise. Which (if you do too long) will eventually increase the bar on the top (which is about: if full then the neighbour will wake up).
I actually had fun playing this game. I do have a few things to point out though.
- There were certain grammatical mistakes at the start (hey we are all gamers who cares about grammar if we can understand HAHA)
- Like the previous comment I think adding sounds to this game will make it more complete and immersive
- A better designed graphics would definitely make the game more immersive and pleasant to look at
- I'm not sure how it's part of the theme (but hey come on... we are here to play and make games who cares if you create this game or an MMORPG for submission)
And considering you only had a few days to work on this, I think it's quite an enjoyable and interesting game overall
Thank you for the feedback. Yeah I'm not a native speaker and I was really in a hury this morning to get the game "jam-releasable". Yeah the graphics also would require a lot of work. Also there are no animations nor effects (I really would have needed some more hours ^^).
The theme was used in the way that you teach your neighbour that he isn't alone. And that he shouldn't behave like no one else is living in the house. When I found that idea I actually thought about having a cut-scene making that more clear. But I think that anyway was overambitioused ^^.
Really cool game idea. I think adding sound to this game would help a lot to make it feel more alive.
You are totally right. I just ran out of time otherwise there would be sound in it. Music/Sound-Effects are really important
Nice game. More interaction would have been nice though.
Thank you. More interaction was planned but I haven't looked properly for the deadline. So I thought I would have at about 8 more hours so. Therefor I had to cut corners to get the game finished. But I like the concept and since longer I'm looking for a long-term-project. I think I will give this game a try.
E.g.: there are rooms you can't enter. Planned was that you can unlock them and also destroy things like the TV and so on.
But nvm. Thats the nature of jams :-).
Oh yes I would love to destroy the tv! :D
