How does you game fit the theme?
The person playing the game is not alone, but has co-workers to forward e-mails to (and thus delegate the work).

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Apart from what was already available in the unity editor, I wrote the code (apart from a ton of stackoverflow/youtube tutorial searching) myself. I also made the music and graphics myself.

Original gameplay ! I liked it. The sounds and music were great too

I think it was a bit repetitive but I guess with more time you would come with more ideas

Fun game! I love the concept - it could really be juiced up into something really great. I was wondering.. What if you kind of 'Flung' the emails instead of dragging, and if you miss the people or bin they pile up at the bottom of the screen. Could be a was to increase the frantic feel and up the speed, rather than just having to click and drag.

Thank you for this interesting idea. I will look into it, but I think limiting spawning space ramping up the spawning speed and having some urgent e-mails that halt everything else could also give this feeling. What do you think?

Submitted

that could work too.

Very good game, kept me entertained and I really liked the music. Although, I did notice some e-mails spawn on top of others. I don't know if it's to be like that, but I just wanted to let you know.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for the heads up. Yeah the e-mail stacking bug is noted and will be fixed post jam.

For a full list of my future ideas you might be interested in reading devlog #2.

Seems like my man is so busy, how many e mails he got in just 90 seconds? Didnt count lol

Developer

Haha, Yeah. I mean the inspiration came from what my e-mails feels like. But sadly I have no coworkers ;-(

Cool! nice and brief Certainly a strong beginning. I enjoy how you have to carefully consider and choose how to respond to the emails you receive. I do believe that the gameplay might become very monotonous, therefore it might be good to introduce some new gameplay after the jam. (might be a super great mobile game where you have to handle everything while in an office!)  Would you like to play my game? Its very enjoyable I promise :) You dont have to though its up to you!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. Indeed I have additional features planned for the game.

You can check out devlog #2 for my ideas...

Submitted(+1)

The idea was good, but it took me some time to understand the idea though, so a how-to-play page in-game may be a good addition. The music is kind of satisfying, so that's a plus. Good start to your game jam journey, for sure.

Check my game out too. It's my first game jam, so please feel free to comment on any changes you would like to see.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. Music gives a lot of feel to games.

Submitted(+1)

Nice submission for your first jam ever! The game is short and sweet, but the sound effects and music make it that tiny bit more fun. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you. Imagine if we had these kinds of motivational animations/sound effect in the real world... ;)

Fun idea! A bit repetitive, but so is e-mail in real life, so you made a good simulation game! 😅

Developer(+1)

Thank you. I actually have some ideas how to make it less repetitive.

If you are interested you can check out my dev log #2

The UI is straightforward and intuitive, so it only took about 3 seconds to figure it out what is happening, what needs to be done and how to do it.

There were moments where emails would spawn on top of each other, which would briefly slow down what I was intending on doing if a spam and non-spam email happened to overlap.

I think the core mechanic is perfected at this point, so it would be interesting to see how you would expand on this concept further.

A fun delegation simulator.

Developer(+1)

Thank you. You might be interested in reading devlog #2 where I write some of my ideas for further expansion of the game.

I enjoy handing out mail and the sound effects when scores are scored! Fun game:)

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. Glad you enjoyed the game.

Submitted(+1)

Pretty fun! I had some issues with some of the emails overlapping, making it difficult to click the right one, but otherwise I enjoyed it. Simple concept executed well. Nice work.

Developer

Thank you. I'll fix mail overlapping post-jam by providing a limited amount of spawning slots.

Not bad, Not bad!

Developer

Thanks

Cool! Nice and short. Definitely a good start. I like how you have to consciously think about the emails you get and decide how to deal with them. I do think the gameplay gets pretty repetitive so it could be cool after the jam to add some additional gameplay.  (could be a really cool mobile game where your in an office trying to manage everything!)

Some things to consider:

  • Putting normal emails into the trash doesn't seem to have a penalty other than not scoring so it could be cool to lower the score if you put a good email in the trash.
  • Spam emails tend to spawn on top of other emails which can be a little weird

The idea is cool so some more polish and gameplay and this could become a really fun time waster!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback. I'll definitely have a look at some balancing and additional gameplay in the future.

Nice easy going game, I had a bug where the mail got on each other but managed to play anyway :)

Developer

Thank you for the feedback. I'll look into preventing mail stacking post-jam.

Game is simple, short and straight to the point, being fun! And it's great! Congratulations

Thank you for the feedback. Glad you enjoyed.

Nice work, keep it going

Developer

Thank you.

I already have a list full of possible improvements ;-)

An interesting and frantic game.  It was a little frustrating when emails stack on top of each other, you end up grabbing what you think is spam, but turns out to be a normal email.

It would have been better to space them out around the empty middle and clutter the main screen, so the player has an incentive to clean up.  Dragging them was annoying, as you're against the clock.  Would have been better to simply click to select and then click again to assign to a worker.

Having different workers for different types of emails would likely be a good improvement to the game.  As it stands, it feels more like actual work than a game.

Developer(+2)

Thanks for the feedback and the suggestions.

I will look into the drag vs click to select click to drop.

Submitted(+1)

I got 153.

This is not bad, but the mails tend to stack themselves and makes it a bit messier.

Also, there are no visual tutorials, so it was really hard the first time.

Developer

What kind of visual tutorial would you have expected?

Submitted

Something like the one from Lose95 by Kultisti.

Unique idea, had fun with this one!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. Glad you enjoyed.

Nice idea

The spam emails apart from being on top of the other emails have no benefit of removing them making it an easier task to ignore them, I'd add some +2 or something every time you throw it away or add a reason for not just keeping it around.

I'd also love to see this expanded upon by creating an employee shop or something where you can get more in the team, but this also causes you to get more emails, and maybe somehow get more time. Could be super addicting and make for long gameplays trying to strategize.

I think this has a lot of potential in being a really good addictive game, given some art audio, and extra polish.

Good job!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback.

Post-jam I'll probably introduce limited e-mail spawning space. This should solve e-mail spawning and simultaneously provide an incentive to get rid of spam mail.

The employee shop is already in my ideas list and the foundations of that mechanic (workers with different qualifications to solve different e-mail types) are already in place (though not visible yet).

Sounds great!

looking forward to playing a completed version when its out then :)
