I really like the visual style, it's simple but very satisfying. The gameplay is really fun but I think it could be improved if you decreased the bullet speed. Since the player ends up pretty close to the enemies in this game, having the bullets move so fast makes it extremely hard to even react to them a lot of the time. Many times I got hit by something I didn't even see, and a lot of the levels I got through just by dumb luck instead of actually trying to dodge bullets. But still, fun gameplay and the difficulty on most of it is perfect. Solid use of the theme as well. Nice job!
Thanks for the feedback. I wanted the game to feel very fast paced so that's why I made the bullets pretty fast. It made the game a bit too difficult at some points though you're right.
Glad you like the gameplay!
Just 10/10. Great game, you can put it on steam right now and no one will even know that the game was created in a week!
Wow thank you very much for the compliment! Glad you enjoyed that much!
Very polished and challenging! Reminiscent of the impossible game but the time constraints make it extremely punishing!
With the short level time and ease of death, I kinda wanted an instant restart key just so I didn't need to wait on the transition effects every time I took a bad hit on the more chaotic spawners. Also, not being able to use the arrow keys is a "bit" annoying, but that may just be down to my preference and the fact that the keyboard I use has a bad key that causes issues.
Some tools like the laser I felt challenge to utilise well within the time limits. Maybe if shift was a slow time instead of just slow movement so I had time to aim things it could help, or maybe I'm just a scrub. I think I most enjoyed levels where I didn't need to aim or aiming was always in one direction. Because levels start by zooming on on the avatar getting the "Right" aim was sometimes a challenge.
Thanks for all the feedback! I thought about making the respawn quicker, but felt like it was fast enough. Of course it does start getting a bit annoying eventually though. You can actually use the arrow keys if you rebind in the settings menu.
You're probably not a scrub haha, the levels are very fast paced so it's difficult to aim well within that time.
Thanks for playing!
Very fun game! Was quite challenging, but the fast respawn helped to make it not feel frustrating. The laser gun in particular is pretty cool ;)
Thank you! The laser is my favorite as well.
Definitely my favorite submission so far. Full of interesting challenges. I especially like the longer levels with multiple paths as I can keep experimenting with different ways of beating it, keeps it fun while starting over so many times. The music makes it feel super exciting
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the levels enough to beat em multiple times!
Really nice game i enjoyed it!
Glad you enjoyed playing!
The visuals are super good and the music matches the gameplay very well. The game is super addicting, I died like a billion times but still managed to beat it. The weapons are also really fun to use. The minigun in particular feels extra punchy, and I love the camera shake that comes with it.
I do think the camera is too jumpy in general though, there's a ton of zoom effects and there's no smoothing in the camera movement. Some of the levels are also too difficult to the point where they feel entirely luck-based (especially the last one) since the bullets move way too fast for you to react to.
Overall, great game and fantastic aesthetics. I had fun playing it!
Glad you enjoyed playing! Happy you found the weapons fun, tried to make those feel good.
Sorry about the camera, but not sure what you mean with the camera having no smoothing. It should be somewhat smooth but maybe it's bugged? Anyways thanks for all the feedback, appreciate it!
When you move the character, the camera follows you instantly. It makes it pretty hard on the eyes when you're constantly moving in different directions. To fix this, there should usually be a small rectangular area around the player where they can move freely without the camera following them.
Wow, it's impressive how polished and finished this game looks for a game jam, and even more with so many mechanics. The result is really great and all parts (gameplay, audio, graphics) play really well together, well done!
Some design decisions, like introducing the controls gradually and entirely within the game, pointing out that the medal is optional on the first level that it's not trivial, gradually introducing mechanics, or showing the whole level when in the rest zone to take time for planning are well thought.
My only concern was that some level got super hard very quickly, and I felt that rather than getting better to beat it, it was a matter to get lucky with the bullet pattern on that run and not die.
Nevertheless, the game is fun and engaging. I even had a super tense moment when I made it just in time:
Thank you for all the feedback! I understand what you mean with the difficulty, making a proper difficulty curve was harder than I thought. But good that you felt like the mechanics were introduced properly. Also, wow never seen the time that close before haha. Glad you enjoyed!
Ultra stylish, really well made. Super fun as well! Loving the Hotline Miami vibes. Having a settings menu adds to the game polish a lot.
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed!
Very stylish. I liked that the weapons weren't always mandatory and if you were quick and timed it well you could make it through without.
Glad you enjoyed!
This was fun! The optional yellow dots are a great way to allow the players to organically adjust their difficulty. The camera seemed to stutter and glitch around more than intended on my screen though.
Thanks! That was exactly my intention with the yellow dots. Sorry about the camera, I never got it quite right but hope it works well enough.
Really fun game! I enjoyed the overall flow of the game, running through the stages in 10 seconds felt exhilarating and action packed. I enjoyed how the walls would change color and the overall screen bent aesthetic to it.
My only suggestion is for close projectiles to be removed when you knife an enemy. In the maze stage, I kept slashing one of the enemies right as I would get shot, it was kinda frustrating and I feel like this would help to alleviate it.
Overall, an extremely quality and fun game!
Glad you like the visuals, tried pretty hard on those! That's a good suggestion with the close projectiles, I kinda intended for people to time it but the timing might be too difficult. Thanks for the feedback!
A high-energy knife-throwing thriller with good art and the right title prefix.
Thanks! Haha yeah seems like we're the only ones with deca- in the name.
GREAT JOB! Love the visuals, mechanincs, music, aesthetics. My only complain is that the music is much more louder than the sound effects.
Thank you! Sorry about the music, there is an option in the settings to reduce it. Glad you like the game!
Thumping music, simplistic yet stunning visuals, very deceptive in the right ways, very good job.
Thanks! Glad you like it!
I'm aware of some audio issues right now. Not really sure how to fix those yet, but the downloadable versions shouldn't have em. Just FYI.
Edit: Had to change some settings around, audio should be fine now, but as a tradeoff doesn't work in firefox anymore. Firefox users (love ya) sorry but you have to download the executable to play.
This game is awesome its like the impossible game but better the visuals are great the levels are great only small issue is the screen shake can be a bit much sometimes but that doesn't even matter when the game is this good.
Definitely got inspired by the impossible game. I always have trouble with setting screenshake amounts. Maybe I should just make an option for it. Glad you like it and thanks for the feedback!
Damn, this game feels good to play. While not the most creative idea in general, you really made it your own and it just seems to be so polished. Audio is weird at times, but the fun makes up for it. Really well done.
Thank you very much!
sound doesn't work well, but other than that this is the winner of the jam!
Haha bit early maybe but I like the confidence, thanks!
Really neat game! Loved the aesthetics, the sound doesn't work properly
Thanks, glad you like! sorry about the sound.
