I see this is your first project, it's a nice start.
The music was well matched with the game.
Once I got stuck in a wall, it happened while I was moving very quickly and changed direction. Colliders can be tricky to use and these glitches are very common. Try to check Unity's manual or some tutorials and experiment with the rigidbody / colliders settings.
Also, if you don't press any key billie will just keep going in the same direction, apparently at the same speed. By adjusting the linear drag on the rigidbody you could probably achieve an effect that feels more like water friction.
Hope it helps.
Feel free to check my entry, any feedback is appreciated.
The game is reallr cute, and i know it's been said here but you could just add a little drag to the rigidbody and the movement would be nice, because it's hard to change direction. Overrall its a nice game :D
The game is very relaxing, the sprites are cute and the calm bubbly music fits the atmoshpere, I really enjoyed it, it felt good to set billie free :)
Cool game, sprites are stylized which makes them look cute. The music is also quite relaxing even if a bit repetitive. I found it was hard to find the second gate at first as we have nothing to help with orientation
Rated - I like how you show the controls and the sprites have a cool style to them! Congrats on finishing a game. Polish it up after the jam. Adding Parallax background would look super cool for under water. Please check out my game if you can!
Overall a cute and fun little game. The issue has been said a lot, so I will not say them again. And for a first jam, this is a pretty good game. Well done.
As some said, I think that the camera is too close but it have an easy solution if you want to update it after the jam.
Apart of that, Billie looks super cute and if you update it with an a bit longer story it would be cool!
Camera is way too zoomed in as some said. It's really annoying not to know what's going to be in front of you. Game is a bit short for a week long jam but that's okay I guess. You might want to check out collision bugs too because I got stuck on a wall twice. Overall it fits the theme sure, but it could use of a bit more fun for it to really be a game.
The camera definitely needed to be zoomed out a bit, or maybe make the corridors smaller, i basically spent all the time swimming direction along the ceiling because with that and the pain background I had no other way of telling where I was.
I also feel that the acceleration was a bit off, I understand it's in water so you want it to feel like effort to move around but it was very slow to be able to change direction.
With some movement tweaks and some other background element this could be a really nice game.
Thank you for trying it and your feedback. I agree with you. With this being my first jam I still feel an accomplishment from being able to take an idea and make it into something functional and will definitely make a bigger effort in the future. It shows how easy it is to become blind to the flaws when you create something.
This is definitely an accomplishment. And next time you'll find that getting to this point takes less time, you can incorporate something extra, and just build up from there. The feedback from everyone is just a critical look at what would have improved the game the most, it doesn't take awake from the fact that you created a finish, functioning game in only a week.
I don't understand why you picked such a close position for the camera. For most of the game the player can't see in front of themselves at all.
The game is incredibly short, with both ending. I think a couple of minutes tops.
The theme is somewhat there, but it's then broken on playthrough 2, when you free yourself from the aquarium in and incomprehensible way, presumably meeting your parent?
Graphics are somewhat coherent, except the glass bowls and the walls, which look less cartoony than the rest.
Audio: The music seems to loop OK, but it's not particularly pleasant or relaxing to listen to from my point of view, which seems to me to be the intended mood of the game.
Thank you for your review I think that it is fair. The theme threw me off and idea seemed incomplete. I had the first ending which was the lie and it didn't feel satisfying and too short so I added the second ending to try to make it longer but the second ending didn't transition well and was just an attempt at making it possible to finish with a better ending but I agree that I have a lot to improve on. This is good feedback for me and exactly what I was looking for.
Thank you for trying it. I appreciate your comments. Hope you enjoyed my attempt at an making it a bit more casual considering the theme I knew there would be a lot of troll games. First game jam for me. Please rate if you have a chance no matter good or bad I will take all the feedback that I can to improve for the next jam.
