Here's my live playthrough of your game:
Gallant is such a cutie. Love the art and the music. Super awesome 8-bit game.
I loved the art, pretty and colourful, feels like an adventure! :) and I liked the way you interpreted the topic making a link with greek mythology
Okay, bullet points:
- Great art and idea and execution!
- I had no problems seeing the spikes, but maybe that was because I read the comments first, hahaha
- I just missed a controls screen, it took me a while to notice I could double jump :D (those could be just written on the game description too)
- The loud music is something very particular to Unity, so I totally understand: When starting a new project I *always* lower the general volume down to at least 40%
- Thank you for the game!
The art in this game really stands out - fantastic! As others have already mentioned, the spikes were a little hard to spot initially. Also I had some issues getting the double-jump to work at times, though that may just have been me. Overall, a great game!
So beautiful, the game looked, felt, and sounded great. The checkpoint system was really great too, it was obvious to me right as I passed the first broken column. Finally, I thought the level design was really good ramping up from teaching me the mechanics to having some tough jumps.
The sprite work is beautiful and the music is nice. The simple animations on the snake/dragon thing is good. The spikes are hard to see so I would work on either changing their sprites or making the sprites around contrast it more. Keep at and add those missing enemies/boss :D
Solid controls, the player was a little slidy, but aside from that, the controls were pretty good. The art was great, really looks amazing :O. The music was alright, but I left my pc on a really loud volume so it invaded my brain haha. It did feel like it was missing something, which I believe was the enemies and boss you mentioned, otherwise it's a great little game :D. Good work!
The art and game idea are both really creative! I especially liked the way you interpreted the theme; The background buildings are really beautiful. For criticism, I thought the spikes were sometimes hard to see and react too. Besides that, I also think more types of obstacles would benefit your game. Overall though, a really nice little experience!
Love the look of it, I could not get past one of the jumps though
Hey! First off: The art for your game is amazing and although being very simple it was fun to play. There are no major bugs or glitches and everything works well! It was a bit short and the mentioned boss battle would've been really fun, i'm sure of it :).
The only thing i would do better is the visibility of the spikes. They are hard to spot sometimes.
The graphics looked nice. I was actually surprised that the background image was static and not some form for parallax background. That would have given some nice depth to the game when moving around the world. I liked the large greek temple which is a perfect place for some form for boss battle. As you mentioned you cut that part out, but I can see the vision. Maybe have some form for highscore system as well and collectibles, that way you encourage the player to explore the world while simultaneously doing it at fast pace for more points.
First of all: Your game looks amazing :D
I enjoyed it to walk and jump through the world and to see what comes next. Unfortunately the end was too sudden. I think, the temple was intended to hold the boss fight you mentioned in the description.
I miss a little bit a sound effect for jumping or hitting some spikes. And the double jump is a little bit hard to pull when jumping from an edge.
All in all a funny game :)
Fun little platformer! Thoughts:
I was able to jump over the spikes you mentioned, but unfortunately there is nothing behind, just sky
