I laughed, I cringed, I cried. There's so much emotional whiplash between the gross, the wholesome, the sad, and the downright weird. Personal highlights: the older trans woman, and "let's start a band". What a great little game, thank you! :)

Sports Direct - the giant mugs from there are very iconic here in the UK :)

sooo true, loved it!

haha thanks! :D

I've never played GIRP myself but have seen it (I think in a previous GMTK video actually...) - it was definitely part of the inspiration for this! I didn't know there was a bird in it though!

Yeah it seems a couple people have had trouble getting off the ground to start with - try holding up on both hands (W/I) and alternating grab, that seemed to help the other people I spoke to :)

It took me a moment to figure out what all the different grids were, but once I did I had a lot of fun with this! Even with time to plan moves in advance this was a fun challenge to visualise how it would all fit together! My best was 30 lines cleared :) I also really liked the music - it really fit the theme of the game!

Hi, the controls are in the game description - unfortunately I didn't have time to put them in the game anywhere. I recommend using a controller if you have one, but there are also keyboard controls.

SuperAverage is a superhero-themed, one-page TTRPG. You play as a group of rejected heroes, with powers that most people don't consider "super" enough, who are called upon to save the world when the "proper" heroes can't.

I'm really excited to announce the release of my new game, SuperAverage! This is the first TTRPG I've ever made myself, which I think now makes me an indie developer? What I initially thought was going to be a short game I could rush to release within a week ended up becoming a passion project, which took me about 6 months to get to a state I'm happy with.

Aside from being a game about superheroes with not-very-traditionally-heroic powers, this is also a game about exceeding expectations. For me, that meant deviating from the serious, mathematically-minded gameplay that people who know me have come to expect from me. Instead, I wanted to make something with no numerical character stats, where the rule of cool is a part of the core mechanics instead of an optional extra.

Here's an image showing a portion of the character sheet:

I've also hired a disability consultant to make sure that the game is as accessible as possible. There's an accessible PDF version (with larger text sizes, using OpenDyslexic v2 font), and an editable version so you can customise the layout however you need.

I hope that you'll give it a look, or even get some friends together & try playing it! I'd love to hear what you think! SuperAverage is available now for free at https://dylanjaide.itch.io/superaverage

Thanks for uploading this! Yeah, you encountered a couple of issues I was aware of but didn't have time to resolve - in particular the movement controls (which I've already been working on improving), and the potential softlock on stone tiles. Also, I should have explained how the hearts work: for each floor you fall, you lose 1 heart when you land, which is why you died upon falling in your first run (it was 3 floors) but not the times after.

Wow, thank you so much!! As someone who's wanted to get into game dev for a long time & is just starting out, this is a huge compliment! :D

I'm also non-binary, so when I saw the name it made me really happy! :)

Thanks for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)

Thank you so much for the kind feedback, and also for playing it on stream! Unfortunately I saw the notification about the stream a little late, I wish I'd been able to catch it! :)

Wow, thank you so much! That's really lovely feedback!! :)

This is a really nice idea for some puzzles - the last one took me a few tried, but was thrilled to eventually get it! I'd love to see some more levels, plus maybe some indicators with numbers to show how many moves are left before a power-up completely degrades. Great job! :)

Starting a new game and immediately seeing I had a card in my hand which read "win the game" really got me hooked right from the start! As others have said, having used pygame to make this within the timespan of the jam makes this all the more impressive! I would love to see this developed more, perhaps with a few more different cards to add a little extra variety :)

The little pink creatures in this look so cute I almost felt bad killing them :P all in all this was a fun game to play, and very intuitive to control the main character :)

This was a really cool concept - I love the idea! I've not seen anything like this before & would love to see it fleshed out, especially with some sound! :)

It took me a little bit to work out I needed to pick up the enemy drops to get more turrets, but once I did I was able to last a decent time!  Lots of fun, nice one :)

A really sweet little game - I love the expressions on the robots! :)

Trying to manage the bars depleting with buying the replacement items was a fun challenge - there were a couple of times when I only barely made it back home with a replacement bed! It was also a lot of fun going from barely being able to land on the first level of enemies to being able to land on the purple ones at the top! Great work! :)

This was a great fit for the theme! It was a little hard to tell when I had completed the actions correctly or incorrectly, but still plenty of fun! :)

Took me some time to work out which guns to use for which objects, and even once I had it was a fun challenge trying to avoid falling! Nice little game :)

Great little game - the owl with its walk animation was fantastic! I totally didn't expect this to end the way it did, great work!

This was a lot of fun to play - quite a challenge! The ability to change the settings yourself was really cool! :) nice work!

It took me a few attempts to figure out what I needed to do, but once I had an idea of which tools to use for which job & where everything was it was fun!

This was a nice game! I made it to level 20 and had a lot of fun doing so!

This was really nice to play - the music really fit with the rest of the aesthetic! I really liked the little mushrooms and the little area with the lake & the boat - very peaceful. I managed to find the win condition after playing for a little while, very sweet!

P.S. I love the name of your game company! :)

This was a really entertaining game! I was laughing a lot while playing through, seeing some of the different ideas for some of the levels. A great entry!

It took me a few tries to work out what I was doing, but once I did it was a lot of fun! Though on one attempt I accidentally managed to throw one of the batteries up onto a shelf above the exit door and get it stuck there! The art in particular was great!

The lighting in this worked really well - the red orbs felt really threatening!

This was a nice submission - the style is very unlike any of the others I've seen! I'm currently sitting at 2,400 employees and counting!

Short and sweet! I love the little character, and the time travel mechanic was very interesting!

Thanks for the feedback! I definitely intend to improve the player controls :)

Thank you so much! :)

Yeah, just about! It took me a few goes, and I only barely scraped it to 100 with 1 life left!

I thought it was very interesting how the broken mechanics (in particular the dash) turned this from a standard 2D platformer into a puzzle platformer! Great job!
