Art and sound were great but I was hoping to have a little more direction when mixing the potions. Maybe just description of each items and their effect would have been nice.
Not having recipes was a major issue for this! Not once did I feel like the mechanics it had the trappings of were like, actual mechanics doing things. Having actual recipe's and requiring to actually make the correct potions would do a lot for this. I do hope you can expand this in the future into a more fully realized game!
Very well made! I loved how adorable the characters are. Nice job!
Cute! Love the art style. The watercolor background added a really nice vibe to it!
I see where this game was going, but I didn't really enjoy it. I didn't enjoy how I couldn't find the recipe book. I was kinda just throwing random things into the pot and hoping it did something right. And if you were going for a more build-your-own recipe-styled game it would be nice to have a recipe book that told me what potion I just made and therefore I can recreate it if need be.
Hey it's cool, not everything is for everyone! I had actually planned to stick a book of ingredients on the table next to the cauldron, but I ran out of time to implement it. Game dev is hard yo! 😅
yeah I completely understand we ran out of time ourselves haha. I do love the art style tho and I'm excited to see more of your work if you go to create more!
Loved the art style! Had a good time brewing potions and meeting characters. Great job!
Thanks so much for playing! :DI had a lot of fun writing this!
Hell ye, I'm logical but depressed! At least i got som moneys doe.. Really really good art and dialogues, great job!
Tehehe, mood! Thank you for playing :)
That's a neat game, I like the idea. I feel that it would have a lot more potential on a different engine to increase replayability but it definitely works as an interactive story too. If you plan to expand on it, I'd love to learn more about the characters and their backstories.
Thanks for playing! I totally understand the sentiment about the engine, but I'm a solo dev who does all of my own art and coding, so I try to keep my scope pretty low. :3
A really solid entry, congratulations!
I especially liked the game-loop: it's clear and simple, but various enough to keep the player engaged. I also loved, as others comments already stated, the fact that tarots appear at the beginning, but their function isn't clear until the end; it's a nice surprise that rewards the ones reaching the endgame!
The artwork is stunning (the cover art is beautiful and perfect to catch your attention in the jam submissions page!), and helps the atmosphere a lot. However, I was able to appreciate it only in fullscreen, the text is too small otherwise. Therefore, for everyone reading this comment: play the game in fullscreen - you will love it even more!
Thanks, I really enjoyed playing this. I also read that it's a running project, so congrats and keep going! :D
Thank you so much for playing! I hope I get the chance to move the project forward and put more into it :)
Cozy simple and nice game. I noticed there was a slider for voice, was there voice over planned at some point? That would really be a great addition. Im not sure what to make of the cauldron part of the game though, no matter what items I put in there, it didnt seem to have any effect or change the outcome of the game in any way. The little tarot reading at the was an unexpected nice touch.
I left the option for future voice-over in the game in case I wanted to expand it later! Currently, the only real benefit of making better potions is getting more money for them, but the only thing to buy in the game is the tarot cards right now. I didn't have enough time to incorporate more buyable items, but maybe someday I will :)
I have a soft spot for games with witches, this definitely has potential with more polish
Thanks so much for playing
Thank you! Yours was really nice too :)
