I really like the ranged combat, it's interesting and setups some unique tactical situations which I appreciate, I think there is a lot of potential in this. I like the ps1 shader and that combined with the echoy footsteps and the lighting and grimdark sci-fi environment was pretty spooky.

As others have said, just need to speed up that movement.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! You describing the environment as "grmdark" is especially important, means I hit what I was aiming for. PS1-like shader not just makes game look "retro", but with this lighting makes the atmosphere rather dark. The assets on their own are pretty sleek.

Fixed the movement, it was earlier tied to CPU/Graphics Card speed and could be sluggish even if the whole performance was fine.

Another Unreal entry! I like the retro aesthetic a lot. I think the only point of note, that the movement could be faster, has been addressed in the other comments below, otherwise great job!

I liked the easy targeting from a distance, and how you can just click to attack after it automatically targets for you. I think I would like more it if the game played faster.

Developer

It has kind of RPG mechanic inside, so the targeting indeed shouldn't be any harder than declaring a target. I'll speed the game up with the patch after the ratings.

Thanks for playing!

Looks great - plays like a pig - it's sooooooo slllllloooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwww

But I love the atmosphere and everything about this. fix the speed and it might be playable and have something :)

Developer

Will do! Thanks for trying it!

The game was running fluidly, but was just to slow in terms of movement. I kinda dreaded to turn a corner. And it was quite hard and had to restart often. But I think the slowness was deliberate, so you had a vision and thats cools.

Developer (1 edit)

Slowness was partially deliberate, but also caused by lack of optimization. Going to patch it once the rating is over.

Thanks for playing it!

An interesting look but it killed my 2080 GPU. Was that all in the pixelation post processing filter? The enemies looked fully rigged and detailed but then the image was downscaled. The movement seemed very sluggish as well. We could see that we could only move when enemies moved but even when there were no enemies around moving between squares took 2 seconds but it felt like longer. Speed up the movement and this could be an interesting game. Thanks for making it and submitting it.

Processing filter doesn't take too much resources. Sluggishness caused by needless abundance of dynamic lighting, will patch it after the rating is over. The enemies are indeed a well-done character, but it was provided by Epic. One of the reasons to apply the post-processing was to make enemies and other content stylistically consistent.

Thank you for trying and reviewing!

the game is very very slow to play but the graphics are nice.

Developer

Thanks! Slowness turned out to be optimization issue, will fix after the rating.

I had some weird thing when approaching the end where I would play a turn then I had to wait a marauder to run along a long distance before I could play my next turn.

For the rest there's not much to play but it is a prototype of something I would play, technical aspects are mostly fine.

Developer

Will take a look if there's a bug with turn-based movement.

Thank you for trying it!

I really like the concept and visuals! I felt like it was a bit slow at the start, and required a few restarts to start getting the hang of it. I do wish the movement was a bit faster to make death not as painful.

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked it, thanks! Agreed, the movement should've been a bit faster, will patch it after the ratings.

reminded me of DOOM

eventually I got to the point where I was more using the sound effects to guide what I wanted to do than the visuals. so that's something.

Developer

Thank you! Glad you had some fun with it.
