Theme (enemy)

1000 pigeons

Correlation to theme
You've reached the pigeons' domain! You better fight if you wish to keep climbing. The percussive elements of the music are reminiscent of their tiny beaks furiously hacking away at you: small but deadly in great numbers. The danger is palpable. Find your courage... and don't let your guard down!

Your theme has an airy side that leads to uncertainty, as in the realm of pigeons... and then the danger of the encounter.

Your theme is well transcribed with your intentions.

Good work!

After listening carefully for a second time, I can hear the good use of instruments that subtlely represent the pecking sound: a synth (I don't know what it's called), a frequent and coherent use of hi-hats and snares.

One of my observations is similar to Nick Schuitemaker's: The song might not fully represent the encounter/battle phase but is very good as an anticipation/warm-up phase, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but rather a refreshing yet logical take on a pigeon song. Good work!

I liked it but the song could reeeeeeeeeeeeally use the same energy of the drums to its other instruments, specially the bass. What I think it could help is having the bass accompanying the drums, like playing a note of the bass together with the kick.

Thank you! Yea great point. I missed an opportunity to try to get that bass grooving

That's a really cool use of the theme with the pecking percussion!

Interesting approach! I expected people to make battle themes, but you seem to have gone with a more "approaching" vibe you would expect BEFORE the battle. This song personally gives me 'cavern' vibes. I am not gonna lie, I personally do not hear the percussion represent tiny beaks, but I do like the intention. This kind of song could perfectly fit in the background, as it is not distracting but also not too repetitive. Cool song :)

Thanks for the feedback! You made some good and helpful points. The submissions that gave me more "bird vibes" had some melodic content to them, usually with woodwind-type stuff - yours is a good example.  I didn't take a melodic approach and I think I got carried away with the note repeat feature on my MPC :)

Death of a thousand beaks! Great utilization of percussion

The rhythm in this is awesome! I thought your use of breaks was super effective. I could really feel those tiny beaks bearing down!

One of the instruments really sound like pigeons pecking the ground haha
