  • The gameplay on this is fairly well done. The sprite art works well and all the minimal animations on the characters is really well done as well. My main issue is the difficulty curve. The game is really easy, which actually works well for a jam game, but the time limit is pretty long and with waves of the same 3 enemies appearing over and over again it gets pretty tedious. Something to keep the player moving around instead of planted in the middle swinging their sword the whole time would have been a really fun addition. Maybe crosses randomly appear around the arena and collecting them speeds up the timer or something like that. Overall though, great job on a well polished game!
  • Great game ! The art was great, the music and SFX were great and fiting, it felt very polished with the knight and enemies wubbling when walking and the attack felt good. My only nit picking is it felt a bit repetitive toward the end, the enemies archetype didnt feel that different and seemed to spawn at random and I was kind of expecting a boss fight with the witch, but it was still great.

This is an extremely polished game, but the story vexes me. The good magic user is called a wizard, and looks the part, but their magic is described as holy, which implies they are in fact some kind of divine caster, such as a cleric. Likewise, the enemy is called a witch, but looks like the grim reaper and summons what appear to be undead minions, which is more of a necromancer thing than a witch thing. The actual gameplay is tight, tho!

Thanks for playing and giving great feedback.

Oh you are right the wizard sprite is based of the black mage from FF and holy is often purely a white mage spell. I thought in this little world everything was simplified to two types of magic users. The witch sprite was more based on folklore so goat and plague mask sort of thing but your point is very valid.

I'm currently working on my post jam update so will be tweaking and using your feedback. Thanks again!

The cool thing about gamedev is you can break the expected tropes and make your own world!

My favorite game so far.

Developer

Amazing, thank you so much!

The art is very cute and the game was fun. The enemies were a bit repetitive for the length of time you had to protect the wizard, but otherwise it was an enjoyable game. Good job!

Developer

Thanks, really appreciate the feedback too. You are right, there was two enemies that got cut, one that was close to being finished, just didn't have the time to implement and do all the necessary tweaks to make it work. I felt I still got across what I wanted without them but something to add in post jam.

Wow! This game was great! The gameplay, although a little repetitive, was fun, and the music felt so epic.  As for the art, while it wasn't the best I've ever seen, was easily good enough, and I think you pulled off the 2-color style really well. My only critique is that the game was too easy. Maybe adding in more enemy types and spawning more difficult enemies in at once could have fixed this, but I found the game to be pretty easy, causing it to get a bit repetitive. That aside, this is a great game that I really did enjoy. Nice work!

Developer

Thanks! Great feedback too. Something that was originally planned was more enemies with different attacks but just had to cut for time. I still think I got across what I wanted without them. I wanted to make sure everyone could get to the victory screen without too many issues but you are right, post jam I am going to add in the cut content and make it a more steady progression in difficulty. Thanks again!

This was fantastic. So simple, but felt so epic. Artwork, music, player feedback all perfect. I particularly like the amount of pushback your attack as against an opponent. Just as great jam game all over.

Developer

Such kind words. Thanks so much, it really does mean a lot!

The witch is slain. Peace spreads throughout the land. One of the few games I managed to finish :) Pixel art although simple is great and has a strong retro feel to it which I like.  It would be good to have an autofire option because my finger hurt from constant clicking. Besides that, I have no complaints. Fun and polished game.

Developer

Thanks! I am so glad you finished it. I was hoping it was easy enough that people could get through it without many game overs. Really good bit of feedback. I am going to do an update after the jam finishes, that's a great option to have.

I'll be checking out your game shortly :)

The game is nicely polished and very fun! The pixel art is awesome and clear and I like the little animations :D

Developer

I haven't really done pixel art before so that means a lot, thank you!

this would be the first game to rate when the rating timing starts
