How does your game fit the theme?
The earth doesn't have much time left, a threat is coming, it's up to you to save it!

Did you use any assets?
No I did everything during the Jam, for the photos, I converted them myself to the right format and good colors.

This reminds me of simple electronic toys! I played through the story mode, and then much later I played through the non-sighted mode, without looking at the screen (actually really fun!)

The jokes made me chuckle. I enjoyed the frank references to world events, the slightly off Vader and Queen songs, and the goofy idea of Game Boy heroes having created a secret weapon. I'm glad your town will be safe if asteroid Vladimort P crashes into the Earth (possibly in a few hours?) The images were all very nicely optimized for a Game Boy screen.

Thanks for showing so many people what their games look like on real hardware. I've been inspired by you! Here are some picture of your game on a GBC:

Very nice to see my game on a real GBC screen in my turn, especially since I had only tested it on Game Boy DMG and GBA on my side :D .

Thanks for your feedback on the game, and I'm glad you liked it, even on its "blind" part, the reference to electronic games like "Simon" is totally assumed :D . I am currently developing an update of the game which will propose 2 new modes. A mode with clues, and a mode with melodies to find the keys, I hope that it will satisfy those who did not understand the interest of "guessing" the keys and having a good memory!

If not, you have finished the game, so we are safe from the asteroid, since the Space Game Boy destroyed it :D
For the musics I am happy that you like them, they were my first realizations on Game Boy, indeed (slightly), inspired ;) . Good luck for the results of the Jam :) .

I'm having trouble playing this game. Is there any way to deduce what buttons to press? I feel like I'm dying a lot just to figure out the right buttons to press - it feels random to me. But perhaps I'm overlooking something?

I love the backgrounds by the way (edited photos)!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback, and yes I tried to render the photos as well as possible on a 160x144 resolution in 3 colors ;) .
As for the game, I had 2 types of reactions, either people love the "luck" and "guessing" side, or people don't like it, and it's probably because of the frustrating side if you don't have any luck as soon as the sequence 3 / 4 ...
So I will publish an update with 3 versions of the game (with clues for example) at the end of the Jam, but anyway I would not have had the time to develop all of them in only 7 days ...

If you want to see the end I made a youtube video of the longplay, with the solution below, if you want to do it yourself :) .

Thanks for the feedback :D

Developer

For those who don't have time, or couldn't finish the game, I made a longplay, with the solution below ;) :

I appreciate the effort to include a mode for individual who are visually impaired. I have a close friend who is blind, I will try to have him test it and see what he thinks!

Developer

I'm looking forward to his return on this version, I guess the video game in general is quite far from his concerns usually for an obvious reason of access?

Pretty cool game!
Also, my little brother liked the "Vladimort Putane" asteroid :)
The blind version was nice (Ofc the one for sighted people was better) but I really liked it tho.

Great job!

Developer(+1)

In fact I had the idea of the "blind" version during my tests of the "classic" version, so around thursday, when I was playing the game, without necessarily needing to look at the screen, I hope it can be useful to some people :)

Is there an indication of what the button progression is? I got to level 2 I think but I would die out pretty quick since I would guess randomly out of the 8 buttons.

The idea of sequence breaking is pretty neat; have you considered swapping out lives with a timer? Then the player would get all of the chances they can to guess the right combos, but they would need to do it before the asteroid hits. You could even have a view of the asteroid moving towards earth at the top as a visual indicator (for the visually impaired mode, there could be a ticking sound that speeds up to indicate this).

Developer(+1)

No indeed no indication in the progression, as I only had time to implement 8 levels in 1 week, I think the game would have been too simple. But for a next version with more levels it would be possible, like a visual mention of the approach of the asteroid, very good idea ! I voluntarily didn't put any sound design (timer or other) in the "blind" mode because I thought it would interfere with the sounds to identify to progress, but I'm waiting for some feedback from the players to move forward on this part of the project with pleasure :)

I don't believe the life system is working.

Developer

Hi, if you're talking about the "blind" mode I didn't have time to remove it, it's marked in the game description, if you're talking about the story mode, I just re-tested it, at home it works on the online version and in rom :) .

My mistake then! Thanks, I love the images in the game.

Developer

No problem :) Thanks, it's quite complicated to make something visible with the 160x144 resolution :D
