Theme interpretation
I used the theme both in mechanics and in history. the player embodies a small vacuum cleaner that becomes aware of himself and decides to escape the scrapyard to see the world. and the mechanics compel the player to calculate his daring well. if you take a safer path you may not reach your goal, but if you are careless neither will you.

Amazing game, lovely art and music. The movement and dialogs look really polished.

I think you should add a few more steps to the tutorial to understand better how to play it and master some of the mechanics.

Congrats, this an incredible submission!

Great work, it's an amazing entry! The artwork is gorgeous, and the gameplay mechanics are quite innovative and fun, and the music and sfx are really fitting!

The game also has a fairly good duration, though arguably part of it (~45 min? I guess) is due to not fully understanding mechanics initially.

In particular, I had trouble understanding:

- How to aim the rocket head. A visual feedback to the direction/power like in golf games could help a lot. Initially I was trying to click and drag the head itself as the instructions were not really clear.

- Multiple head jumps provided that you have power for it - it took me a while to understand that it's a possibility, while it's quite core to achieving good results.

- I have a shield! I totally missed that until the very last level (and after spending a good 10 min trying to beat that level with a single life/no shield). While the UI and controls do mention a shield, I don't remember seeing it introduced in-game (might have missed it).

- Bullet hits don't give visual feedback when you don't kill the enemy, and sometimes they keep going even after a hit (might be a bug), so initially I thought I was not shooting enemies properly/at the right time.

Overall the game is much easier once you understand all the controls and mechanics, but since they're not introduced perfectly clearly (though the tutorial is very nice and you already did a good job here), some end up being discovered late/with trial and error.

All that being said, this is one of my favorite games from the jam, kudos!

PS: FYI, you GitHub project includes some files which don't seem related to the project at all, like the README.md which seems taken from a Godot plugin, and possibly other files too (LICENSE), etc. It would be good to clean that up.

Dude, wat a happy feedback!

I was increasing the project and it ended up getting very tight in the last few days. I have ready-made animations that I had no time to use (as in the bullet and the death of one of the enemies), as well as I was not able to test much.

this guide for launching your head is essential - like a golf game. while making the game I didn't even try because it was something I had never done before and I didn't know how - this is my third game, the first one I made in August of this year, so I'm really starting to learn - but I've found a way since the game was submitted, I will implement in an update.

I was a little lost as to how much to explain or not. I really don't like long tutorials and I would rather buy the risk of the player needing to test a few times than a bunch of boring tips.

I'm really not sure about this measure, but I think with some disposition you can get the hang of it and I think the game is more fun like that.

is github was also a big news. at first I managed to use an addon on godot that would upload the updates myself, but then he stopped logging in and I just uploaded everything that was in the folder, hahahaa. but i will review it.

thank you so much for the feedback, I'm really glad you liked it and encouraged to try new games!

Pros:

+ Great art and animation (reminds me of Machinarium with a lighter and brighter colour palette)

+ Unique gameplay mechanics

+ Nice music

Cons:

- A bit harder to get into (but once I understood it, it was fine)

This is really cool game with very well though-out game mechanics! Well done!

Developer(+1)

you made my day remebering machinarium. thank you

The controls are hard to get at first but once I understood them, the game is a blast :)

Submitted(+1)

Really cool looking game. The art really makes this one, but there's a lot of depth to the mechanics, as well.

Repost from the main game page, in case you'd rather have feedback here.

Really cool game once you get the hang of the main skills! Find my video review below:

Developer(+1)

wow, i see in your gameplay it just skiped all the tutorial fase. that's should not happen
that's complicate the game. is this happening to everyone?

the smoke effects are not disappearing either. this is weird

and you explored a glinch that I didn't foresee, this stop in the air with a new rocket of the head. that's really clever. but you never used the second click and drag in the air, it get more momentum.

thank you so much for the play, loved to see someone playing it.

Submitted(+1)

haha no worries! It was a cool game and the best way to improve it is to have people play it! Really well done though!

Gorgeous art and super cool theme interpretation! I really like the upgrade system and the UI. I had a bit of trouble though with the controls and mechanics but I’m sure that with a bit more polish it will be a great game.

Good job!

Game looks really great, love the scrap yard aesthetic.  I wanted to play on but I couldn't work out how to control the head launch skill.  It might be that I'm playing on a laptop and using a touchpad might make it tricky? But yeah really loved the look and feel of the game and wanted to play on.

Developer(+1)

Yes, the mechanics of the head are no longer very smooth, on the toutchpad it must be impossible

thanks for the feedback, when the voting is over I intend to upgrade this mechanic of the head

Submitted(+1)

The art is just perfect! I loved it! The idea is nice and the game is great.

Very good game, I enjoyed it a lot :)
The art is awesome! and the SFX of collecting items is very satisfying :D
At level 3 I just sent heads up up and away, but then, alas, i fell all the way to the bottom lol
"Boys can't cry" made me lol hard

the shop menu is blinking each time you open it, made it feel laggy (i think its a feature though and not a real lag)

The head mechanic could use a tune up, I was just trying random things until I figured out how it worked

When hitting an enemy with your shot, you can add an indication they were hit.. The bullet didnt get destroyed and I thought it just didnt hit the enemies (even though it did)

Overall - Very solid game :)

Developer

thanks a lot,

I was anxious for someone to see all the lines, I had a lot of fun choosing them.

yes, without a doubt the mechanics of the head was my own moonshot, I had never worked with rigid bodies and was still adjusting that until the last moments. but i think still need a lot of work.

in fact, the menu flash was designed, but I hadn’t calculated how many times we would need to open the menu. on the last day i included the shortcuts to add energy on J, K and L because opening and closing the menu was being very boring. but I didn't remember to take that flash off.

I really liked the game and I think I will still make some adjustments to it after the vote

Awesome game, the art is so good! I found it a bit hard to control the head mechanic - a practice area where you have unlimited heads to get used to the way it works would have been handy

Really polished overall though, even just the start menu animation had me sucked in :D

Submitted(+1)

Incredible artwork! All the characters have so much personality despite being completely inanimate and in some cases literally pieces of scrap. Great job on bringing the world to life.

The controls were quite difficult to understand and I never really got the hang of the head shooting mechanic. I ran out of power the first time and had to reset but still couldn't figure out the head mechanic. Wish it wasn't so punishing for newer players :(

Developer

yeah, sorry about that.

that's my fault, i really couldn't finish it how i wanted. but i ll try update it latter.

thank you for your feedback, i really spended a lot of time on that chars.

Submitted(+1)

Amazing artwork! Love the animation of the little vacuum at the beginning!

Gameplay was quite slow-paced but I grew to enjoy it. Mechanics of batteries are interesting and the rocket head was confusing to use at first but once I got the hang of it, it was really fun to just fling my head really high up and teleport to it haha.

Great game! :)

Art was amazing! good job

Dude L O V E the art

the pop ups animation for the ingame messages ohhhh yesss, subtle but so satisfying

good work

could use some improvement on the head mechanic

Developer

thank you!

yeah  the head i think to drag a trajetory for the impulde. maybe make time a little slow. but there really wasn't time .

Submitted(+1)

So pretty! Had to try a few times before getting the hang of the head mechs.

Submitted(+1)

Really cool game. Clever how it unfolds while playing. Artwork is adorable.

Submitted(+1)

The art is really cool, and I liked the comics vibe! Controls were a bit jiffy, and there was some sliding when I was just standing around in some platforms.

The head mechanic was really cool, but some indicator of strength and direction would be really helpful!

Developer(+1)

yes, definitely the head launch needs a direction and / or strength indicator. this is just my third game and i still don't really know how to do some things, or i got it in a timely manner. there was no time to even implement some animations that were already done - like the death of one of the enemies, which just disappears.

i ll make some fixes latter, hope can find a way for that metter.
thanks for playing and for the review!
