Wow, what a polished, complete experience! The dialogue and voice acting were brilliant!
Also the graphics were great! The character sprites worked well and it was easy to discern what you could interact with within the world. And it has a great flair similar to Hotline Miami.

It took me a couple of tries to bring the files to the east wing but once I arrived there I finished the game the first try, barely :D

I finally managed to play your game, sorry for the delay! The dialogue and the pixel-art are truly original, I played the windows version. What software did you use for the voices?:D

Developer

A combination of windows voice recorder, Clownfish for the modulation and effects, VLC to trim off the edges and get the timing right, and bashing on the Unity package D'Dialogue to get it to play the dialogue as sound files. Thanks!

The voice acting was great. It took me a handful of tries and I'm glad it check pointed your progress.

Developer

Thank you! The tries are essential to the experience in our view and maybe we should have made them feel less like failure and more part of the experience but through the dialogue. The checkpoints were essential in preserving that process.

Just finished your game and I'd personally say it was pretty fun. I wish it was a bit longer though but I can get why the game is limited to just this much since it's a game jam game. On another note, I really love the dialogue and the voice acting of the game. It really gives the game character. I love it. Good job!

Developer

Thank you so much. I actually did the voice acting and our motive from the beginning was to get "1 level right". We ended up here, as far as it goes. A person wishing for more is never a bad thing however!

A looping game, so in a minute we must stop the bomb or we are out with it.

I'm still on my third time getting bombed, so will try again, hopes I can prevent it.

I dont know if it was my fault or something but the waiting time between dialogs was so long, it was nearly imposible to start playing, and when I did, after the minute, another dialog started so I cant really play it

I'm missing something? I want to try the game D:

That's weird! We'd not seen that error before. I know the dialogues won't autoplay, so you have to click through. If that's not working I'm not totally sure what could be causing it to hang like that. Please let me know if the dialogue is not responsive to clicking and I'll see if there is something I can do!

I had the excact same problem. I think it took me 10 minutes before I could play, and after that I died really quickly and had to go through all the dialogue again :(

I've uploaded two fixed versions to my Github: https://github.com/Ionox-studios/Bug-in-the-system. Obvz don't rate off of those. But for those who ran into a bug and still want to give it a shot. If either version works please let me know, I'm more curious than anything.

Original is still the one up top!

I made it with less then one second on the clock, lol. I really like you personally voice acted in this game. I also like the genator for being faster then he looks :).

The dialogue and voice acting are definitely the highlights of the game for me. The robot is hilarious and the janitor sounds like he's so done with life, haha. It's also really funny when you headbutt a robot and it instantly explodes.

I would definitely get rid of the doom timer. I know it's part of the game because of the story, but I don't think it's necessary for gameplay. I would have liked to explore the whole map and find all the blue laptops so I could hear what the robot has to say, but I felt like I had to skip a lot of them because of the timer.

I would also decrease the player speed. Right now you can rush through the game simply by running past enemies, you don't have to attack or pick up their guns. I think decreasing player speed, but compensating by increasing ammo or something would allow for more strategic gameplay where you'd have to use the guns and shoot the robots to progress through the map. Finally, I would get rid of the doors. I don't think they add much besides forcing the player to wait around for them to open.

Great entry overall, I had a lot of fun with the game and I managed to beat it. Great work on the voice acting too, it really adds so much to the dialogue.

Developer

You're very much right about the timer. We've been discussing that one non stop, as well as the headbutt and the doors! But you know, hindsight and all that. You get so tunnel visioned sometimes when working in your spaces that you don't stop to consider that something that has been a concept for a very long time... Just may not work. Thank you so much for the review and I'm glad at the fun you did have! I loved voicing it.

This was so funny. I like the janitor's voice, and the humor in the dialogue. I couldn't achieve the goal in the time limit, but it was fun.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Try again! If it's not clear you have several chances to make the objective while still maintaining your progress. There is new dialogue for each run for a lot of places! :)

Did you just say more dialogue? I'm all in for the scrappy dialogue! Gonna play it again!

Make sure to talk to watercooler guy outside the main room!

Submitted

Aha, I finally finished it. The watercooler guy was great, he talks just about as much shit as the computer!

Well this one was very fun! a quick game of following instructions I just didn't noticed that there was a timer at first but after the first try I got it, it feels a little of to not move while hitting since you are able to run that fast, but some it was cool.
