Wow, awesome game you've made here. I wish the fishing line was more telegraphed to the player through some sort of warning icon.

Developer

Thank you! I think currently you might hear the motor just seconds before it comes through but I'm considering adding a flashing shadow or something. I also might make the boat more difficult *evil laugh" . I appreciate your feedback!

Since the theme is clichés here, I'm going to say it - I was hooked! Had to get to the top ten (not sure how long that will last).

Super polished, controls are great, music is fantastic. Solid all around. Great job!

Developer

Hahaha thank you!! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Great to have more time-boxed games, is good to be able to play and finish a fast round here or there. Especially if the game relays so much on the gods of RNG, hehe. Had fun playing, the art is great, the sound fits well and the gameplay is round. Good entry.

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Your game got me :-D Simple gameplay and soooo addictive! In my best run I ate 32 fishies - not top  10, but almost. Really enjoyed that - thanks for submitting this great entry.

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. 32 is a solid run!

The art for this game is impressive! Very enjoyable game, and nice and short at 2 minutes. Great for game jams!

Very nice game! I like the art, sound and how i can eat the big one too. I just think fish of the same species have a more random around a value make game better, in my opinion :)

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I like the way its not just an eat a smaller fish game but you can eat the big ones :)

Developer

LOL that was actually how this game started, but when I was adding the leaderboard there were some constraints that made me change the game and I'm glad I did.

Didn't realize at first how eatable fish indicator worked. Maybe make next eatable fish also glow green when switching.

I'd suggest make it so that game always start with picking one of the small fishes as my target as they are first to arrive. If I get anything else I feel like reseting level is a better option :(

I know the next target is random but people usually excude current target from next pick. In one game I had large red fish selected in a row.

Adding Leaderboard into the game seems like a great move. I should try looking into that for future games myself, thanks for the idea :)
Would be cool if I could access leader board from main menu.

Overall good job!

Developer

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the game. I totally agree, having the edible fish repeat the same fish back to back needs to be adjusted. I'm considering making the larger fish count for more "points" to balance how few of them spawn and how slow they are. I might try sticking to the smaller fish at the start of the game to give player more opportunity to score, but I also don't want it to feel to easy.

Great idea, yeah I should add a link to the leaderboards from the main menu. Thanks for the feedback.

Simple, yet addicting gameplay. Nice inclusion of the leaderboard. It gave me plenty of reason to try to get a good score. I managed a score of 43 after a good handful of attempts.
I'd love to see a little better balance with the fish randomization (sometimes you get stuck just waiting or fish to show up on screen). It also feels bad when you randomize to the same fish you just had, especially for the big, slow fish that take a long time to show up on screen.

Perhaps some things to make the big fish feel more rewarding would be for those ones to count as 2 fish when you eat them?

Overall, a solid entry that I had a good bit of fun playing.

Edit: Oh! For some reason, running this game in chrome has horrible framerate issues. (like 2fps). But I opened it in Edge just to see if it would run, and it runs fine in that browser. Not sure what was happening there, but thought you might like to know that.

43 fish nicely done!! I'm totally with you on the randomization repeating being annoying, it's on my list of things to tweak. I really like the idea of giving the larger fish more "weight" which would balance out the low spanning number as well as their slow speed.

I did notice when I played it in chrome with a bunch of other tabs open it ran extremely slow, but it's not consistent so I'm not entirely sure what's causing it. I'll try looking into it though, thanks for the feedback.

Simple yet very addictive game play. The principle of the game is quite original, I liked trying to learn the patterns of each species of fish. An aquarium style bullet-hell. Thanks for making it :)

Glad you enjoyed it!

Very polished game. Good arcade vibe with the sounds and 2D view. I found it a little hard. Keep making games!

Thank you!
