I had a really fun time playing your game! Although, I was very bad at it haha
Echoing some of the other comments, I do wish the character felt a little less floaty during the jumps. I'm not sure the solution is air control or just different physics though.
Thanks for letting me experience such a cute and nice game!
Thanks! I plan to do update right after voting ends and we'll see then :)
experimenting with x2 gravity right now. It does make things feel faster (and even harder) but needs me to ckeck if all obstacles are still doable
Really challenging game, i love the concept, seems like a fun game to have on the phone :D
Good game, should've made for PC too.
Pretty fun game! A bit hard at times to really evaluate how far we'll land though. I would have enjoyed some air control. Like the fun atmosphere, the sheep noises were really funny.
It's a very interesting game! It was very difficult to get a sense of how far I would go - even if I tried to line up my jumps with the words on the ground, I missed my jumps like half the time. But, that's part of the challenge, I suppose!
The one thing that really frustrated me was that when you hit another ball while running on a ball, you instantly lose. I understand you don't want players to cheese the game by moving really close to the targets, but it didn't really make sense intuitively (I didn't fail my jump after all), and took away what would have been a fun aspect of the physics system.
Great game overall, maybe you can add a bit of control to the player after the jump.
Nice Game, it had idle bird vibes!
Nice game!
This just unlocked a memory I forgot I had! I remember a game on the NES that was very similar that I played when I was very little called Circus Charlie. It also contained this scenario, jumping from one ball to another 😁
Well done on your submission! Your idea is well executed, and the game feels fun to play although I am terrible at it lol but that's down to my own bad skill. Playing it, you become engaged trying to beat your previous high score and finally getting it is satisfying. I do agree with the previous comment on here though that some type of air control would work nicely.
Great job!
Very easy to understand but hard to master. Good variety of obstacles which makes the game more dynamic (and difficult...).
Great game overall!
(I would suggest some air control as well, but not having it is what makes the game challenging)
Nice little game that somehow reminds me of playing games on Atari as a kid. The controls were quite challenging and I only managed to get above 1,000 a couple of times. I like that there is variation in the level when you restart it, I thought you did well to create the graphics yourself, and the music and sound effects were really good.
Fun game and a pretty unique concept! Loved the varied obstacles you put in there. I'd echo what a couple of other people said regarding being able to influence the jump left or right slightly while in the air - I think even a small amount of air control might make the jumping feel a bit smoother but it could have a negative impact on the challenge.
Simple fun, very hard tho lol
Congrats on the game!!
Such a fun thing to see how it took about 10 tries and then something clicked and my head got a sense of the timing. Nice game!
Because it took so many tries, I appreciated how many different versions of "Bhah!" You've got in there too
Pretty hard game but I still had a fun time trying to progress. If there is anything I would adjust I think I'd expand the hitbox to land on the balls (and maybe have a separate animation where the sheep just barely makes it). Overall great work - simple mechanic but well-executed!
Challenging but fair! I did find myself wishing that I could control the sheep a bit while in the air, but that might remove some of the difficulty. Would fit in very nicely in early 2000s Newgrounds :)
Nothing like a simple concept executed well! It's punishing, but fair. I never felt like it was the games fault, only mine. A lot of "Nope, I'm going to land right between these things," or "I just shot myself into a flaming hoop and turned into a sheep kabob."
Great job!
Thanks! I hope you'll play it again some time :)
I will say obsticles one by one are mostly fair but I've run into some combinations of them where they seem more dificult that I anticipated. I might tune some things around after the Jam is over.
What a cute game ! I really liked the art style and the music is quite nice too ! Did you make the sheep noises by yourself ? Just wondering x)
It reminds me a lot of Circus Charlie, a retro game that i used to play a lot in my childhood and it's such good memories !
To me the game was challenging yet not too hard. Perhaps a bit tricky to master but quite well balanced to me.
I had a great time playing your game, well done !
Thanks!
I also played that game as a kid even though I forgot its name until I started making making this :)
Sheep noises come from one of the sound effects packs that I got from Humble long ago.
Although I liked the graphics, the tunes, and variety of obstacles, I have to admit there was one aspect of your game unfortunately caused me to lose my patience sooner than I would have liked. In most games with jumping, the player can still, at least somewhat, control the character while airborne. That's unrealistic, but it gives the player something to do during the jump, which in a game about jumping, is going be a lot of the playtime. It also allows for small adjustments and error corrections, making the game feel forgiving and just less frustrating. I think with this minor alteration, allowing some movement still while the sheep is in the air, your game would be considerably more fun. For me, at least. On the other hand, I suppose there is a certain challenge to getting the timing just right, and that may appeal to another kind of player. Hope you had fun participating in the jam, and thanks for submitting!
Thanks for playing and your thoughs.
I think I might make "easy" and "hardcore" modes after the Jam is over. hardcode would prety much stay the same and easy mode might give extra control as you said. Maybe some other mechanics to make it easier if I can figure them out.
That's a good idea!
Simple, fun game. Great mechanics.
I kept imagining that the sheep should have a ragdoll effect to be perfect.
