A peaceful and inspiring music would have added a lot to it :) but good job overall!

I really like these kind of experiences where you only have to relax and enjoy, with no challenge. The custom shading is really nice, the colors are cool and it's a quite soothing experience overall.

How I love games of this type. Where you don’t have to do anything, but just enjoy. There was no music in the game, so I played mine in the background, it was amazing. I think some kind of underwater ambient could be added here, as well as something like sleep music. I think if the game was further improved, for example, adding music, more fish, making more different special effects (the glare of the sun floating past all sorts of sea dust), adding different underwater plants etc., this game could be published on Steam. I would really pay for it. I hope you continue to work on the game. And thank you for making games like this.

Nice Simple game. Definitely really relaxing with pleasing aesthetics. Looks good!

Beautiful simulation of the underwater world! There really isn't enough ambient music in the background, and it would be cool to control a whole school of fish at once

It’s interesting to see the use of boids, I really want to create something similar-ish with boids in VR so this was great to see. The fish are very pretty, and the game was nice and relaxing, reminded me a little of the meditation scenes in Abzu - a game I really love. I like the colours a lot. 🐟 🐟

VR would be great, although I'm not sure how I would do the locomotion.

I have no idea either lol! I’m literally just starting to learn to develop in VR (I’ve made games before of course) - I’m hoping youtube has the answers. XD Where is the Brackeys of VR ??? :O

I'm an expert on VR development, feel free to ask questions.  The Oculus sample projects are a good starting point.  What platform are you building for?

Ah, I didn’t realise! How funny.

I’m building for the META Quest 3, I was going to build a small prototype in Unity and in Unreal to work out which I preferred as an engine - I have funding from my university (on a PhD program) to make a series of prototypes with the kit! I really want to make cozy / cozy-dark VR games XD I will check the Oculus sample projects but if you have any other tutorials to recommend that would be awesome! Or actually, any must play games, ones for a super busy person are also good! :) (I am not buying Balders Gate 3, I do not have time, I am not buying Balders Gate 3, I do not have time, I am not buying Balders Gate 3, I do not have time!)

Unfortunately my tutorials are mostly for the company where I work, or on very advanced topics (Co-Location, Room Reconstruction).  Here are the Oculus Unity samples: https://github.com/oculus-samples.  I recommend starting with https://github.com/oculus-samples/Unity-StarterSamples.  I'm a Unity dev primarily, so I don't have much advice on the Unreal side.

My best advice is to find some mechanics in other games that you like.  Here is the list of ones I recommend for the cozy-dark feel.

a fisherman's tale (short)
Moss (medium)
the last clockwinder (short)
Budget Cuts (medium)
Walkabout Mini-Golf (party)
Demeo (surprisingly long, you can only save between levels)
Virtual Virtual Reality (medium)

The things that will drive the VR design are locomotion.  I was thinking of building the boids app in VR with the hands being fish like the planes in Xortex from The Lab.

Unity is what I have the most experience in, but Unreal has blueprints, and I’m more of an artist that can code a little.

Thank you for the link and the list of games. I need to play Moss! I’ve been playing with a relaxy game you can play lying down.

Someone needs to write the game feel of locomotion for vr but fish as hands sounds amazing! 🐟 🐠 🐡 🐙 🪸 I’m imagining that you need to flourish a little, to get the motion of the fish right, in different fish, you could actually have to frantically move your arms around to embody an octopus! I’m actually researching ‘meaningful’ games for climate change - so it would be an interesting experiment!

Hey, the camera movement is crazy when you turn, but I really like the main idea. I think with some atmo noises and some music it would have been even more fun.  I really liked how the schools avoid you. Still impressive for a game jam!

Cool!

At the start, it was slightly disorienting, because the fish protagonist is too little and hard to identify.

Maybe moving it to the bottom of the screen and zooming it could have helped?

Overall good experience :)

As others have stated, I think some audio really would've helped complete this. It looks really cool though.

Submitted(+1)

Definitely needs some sounds, this will be a great relaxing game with them!

Love it! Really interesting take on a game where it's just about exploring and relaxing :)

I've alway love boids. It's cool to be able to swim among them and watch their behaviour change when you get close.

Nice, I like the idea of just being a relaxing experience, I think some audio would help in that regard.

It reminded me online concerts.
