Love the flavor on display here. Really unique idea and the intro cutscene was pretty funny. The gameplay is simple but I think it plays well and was overall really fun. Great job!

Man! I'm finding some gems on this final stretch of reviewing games. Such a great game. I had a little problem with it starting to lag as multiples of those blue fish started attack at the same time. (Maybe,I I just need a reboot after playing so many games.) The art is fun. As goofy a premise as it is, the elements really hold together well. Great take on the theme 'Scales,' too.

Very simple game but surprisingly the combat felt really great! The audio got a bit clutter during the cutscene. Some nice QoL change would be the visual of attack cooldown! But Overall this is a very polish game!

That was fun and addicting. Went in a couple of time. Couldn't beat any of the bigger fishes because I suck but one day I will.

Ran perfectly fine, No bugs or anything of the sort.

Thanks! Yea those big fish are tough for sure.

Really nice work, everything seems so polished and very fun to play also. Congrats

Thank you!

Ha, love the game! Such a goofy premise, but really fun and a rewarding game to play. Nice work!

Haha yea we giggled a lot at this idea and decided we had to go with it. Thanks for the comment!

Smooth gameplay with a great intro, good music, and great sound effects. The game is challenging and the game over screen with the coins raining from above is great! I would have liked a few more powerups or an upgrade system that you could spend your collected scales/coins to be upgraded into a buff baby golden god. Great first entry for a game jam and good work!

Developer(+1)

Agreed, more powerups would've been nice. Spending the collected scales is another interesting idea.

The gameplay is truly impressive, with very well-managed difficulty that evolves seamlessly as the game progresses.

I loved the intro cutscene, and the music was absolutely on point!

The game feels simple, but very polished and fun. It explained what to do well: I didn't feel stuck or confused, and I think the difficulty is well balanced.

What I liked the most are graphics: the game looks amazing.

Great job! Good luck with your future projects!

Thanks so much for playing!

This is a really funny game.
The prologues is awesome. :D

This was so much fun to play! Really great use of pixel art. Mixing it with 3D kinda reminds me of those 2.5D games like Octopath and Triangle Strategy. The opening cinematic was also a really nice touch. Overall a really polished and fun game. Congrats!

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the kind words!

Awesome graphics and a great intro! :)

The old-school style was nicely done (mixing 2d and 3d). Good job!

Developer

Thank you!

Really cool game play concept, like a 2.5D arena brawler. The graphics are a lot of fun and the sound is nice but could be a little more readable/meaty. The opening scene was pretty wild. It's a neat demo, and with a little refinement I could see you really making a great brawler it's got a lot of the gears of a good brawler. It has lots of cool little things like the subtle travel with each punch. The concept is pretty unhinged which is fun.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Appreciate the feedback.

It's a GREAT prototype for an excellent game! The animation is cute and funny. The graphics are very nice! I love the 2.5D aesthetic in the game.

Great job!

Amazingly polished game, well done! I loved the intro, the visuals and sound design were great and the gameplay was fun. There is nothing to criticize. I liked that there were meaningful pickups. Congratulations on your first Game Jam!

I played the game with a controller. Even though it is not supported in the menus, it seems that Unreal’s input system makes it possible to play the game with it and it felt more natural for me than the keyboard.

Oh and great job with the page for the game as well. I love the humor. :)

Developer(+1)

I actually did add controller support for the gameplay portion of the game but didn't have time to properly integrate it with the menus. I'm glad someone could make use of it.

Wow, best game I have tried so far.
I really enjoyed playing this game, wasnt expecting so much quality and fun. I actually missed some opportunities for healing, or maybe its my skill issue hahaha. Nice game guys this is a nice product!

I really like this kind of graphics. It's a great game that fits the theme.

Really looks like a polished game with a fun core mechanic, a funny take on the theme and nice pixel Art (I especially enjoyed the start Scene). Maybe it is just me, but I found this game quite difficult and it was hard to get to the first power ups (Maybe implement a difficulty system for noobs like me, or a visual indicator, when the blue fish attack, or make power ups more likely to drop). Also another quality of life change would be to make the player stay facing in the last direction the player moved to. (when you press W the player should stay with the back turned against you). That being said it is quite difficult to make the game fun for everyone as you are always better in your own game ( I think I have similar issues in my game). Nevertheless a fun game with cool graphics and a creative take on the theme.

Good job! The mix of 3D graphics and 2D pixel art in this game was a great choice. The game is very fun and I would like to see an update with bosses and some more power ups!

I liked the intro, it made me laugh. I think it had a little bug though because the two music tracks overlapped at one point.

I think the pixel art for the baby and fishes is spot on, I like his little pacifier especially. The enemy attacks are a little tricky to read, I think the fishes could "wind up" somehow before lunging, maybe by wiggling their tail fin, to give the player a better chance to dodge out of the way.

I wish I had a brother to make games with. Like, I'm legitimately jealous. Have fun you two.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks! Appreciate the kind words. And good notes, adding a wind up animation is a good idea.
