I had the explosion particle effect from an old project.

The game has some interesting features and enjoyable mechanics, though there's room for improvement. It's a decent experience, and with some tweaks, it could be even better. Keep going!

Thanks so much for checking it out!!

Good job! My computer had a bit of a tough time running this, it might need some optimizing cos it shouldn't be struggling to play this at full fps. The shooting was satisfying and the game is easy to enjoy. Well done!

Developer

Thanks so much! Yes, I definitely need to leave more time for balancing and optimization.

This was great! I made it to wave 7 before the drones got too tanky, hopefully my brethren made it out in time... Great explosion particles and models, I really liked watching the cannon fire, cool animation!

Developer

Thanks so much!!
I appreciate you checking it out!
It needs a little balancing :)

My computer ran it a little laggy at times, but overall it worked well. I didn't realize until wave 2 that I could hold the first button down. I was unstoppable after that! It was fun.

Thanks so much for checking it out!!
It was a great learning exercise, and the game didn't suck, so I'll take it.

I had a fun time shooting the drones! My final wave was 8 with 215 drones killed. A mouse sensitivity option would be great, since even at highest DPI of my mouse, it feels quite slow. There's also lag whenever I am shooting bullets. It's still a perfectly playable framerate on my computer, but not quite ideal. It may be because I still use a slow hard disk for storage or some issue with Wine running this game on Linux. If they aren't already, do make sure the bullets are being instantiated with preload() instead of load(). Moving the cannon feels great and it's really fun watching the drones blow up! Great use of the theme, too!

Thanks so much for checking it out!!

I agree 100% My kids told me the mouse sens was way to high so bumped it down and didn't have time for a user pref. slider.
There aren't actual bullets. It's all hitscan.
There are particle effects that I used for the tracer fire though.

Challenging without a reticle but worked because I could see the bullets flying around. Was fun moving the camera around and shooting stuff.

Would have loved more stuff and a short explanation that there is a buy menu where i can use my credits.

Thanks so much for checking it out!!! 😁

I agree with your feedback, thanks!

Your game looks vey cool, are you able to deliver a MacOS build please ? I'd love to play it ! Thanks !

Developer

I would LOVE to but I'm having problems renewing my Apple Dev cert

Submitted

Ok, I don't know how it works but I don't think I did anything about a dev cert to export my game from Godot

Hmmm I'll look into it.

Well done game! I hope the jam has been a positive experience for you despite three panic attacks!

For a long while I felt overpowered with a single fire rate upgrade, then suddenly I was being overwhelmed and had to spam upgrades in the pause screen! :D I like how the turret's three cannons are animated and the effect of hitting the incoming ships a lot.

The one thing I'd say is the music gets drowned out by the gunfire, especially when it starts shooting faster.

Thanks so much for checking it out!!!

Yeah, it's not what I would call. Particularly well balanced. But it still managed to be kind of fun.

Really good point on the audio too. I had hoped to have time to put a user preference lighter in.

Thanks again!!

Cool having a shooting mechanic without a reticle. I also liked the pixel art explosion quite a bit. Opening an exe and immediately seeing a blue screen gave me half of a heart attack though

Developer

LOL I didn't even think about the BSOD!

Sorry about that.

Thanks so much for checking it out! I was trying to put a reticle in, and it was giving me fits. So I fell back on tracer fire, and actually loved it.

Happy little accidents :)

Good idea and generally well implemented, would have liked a little more variety of enemies and directions they flew from, but still was really fun.. good luck with the jam :)

Developer

Thanks so much!!!

(Totally agree)

I like the original idea and how the drones fly towards the player through a dark night with a green light attached to them, that really gives a good mood for the game

Thanks so much!!
