How does your game meet GBJam's theme?
We interpreted the theme "spooky" in two different ways. Firstly, the game theme features witches, spiders, bats, pumpkin and other elements associated with Halloween. Secondly, the titular character is a cat called Spooky, for whom the player spends the game searching.

Neat little puzzle platformer. Didn't get super far, but it seemed mechanically sound once I figured out how the controls worked.

Was it an intentional choice for the spikes to look like candy corn? If so, a nice touch, yet weirdly disarming. They look so harmless, even when they're placed like you'd expect spikes in a platformer.

It's fun changing between the different forms. Nicely challenging puzzles, great animation and great sound. Well done!

The movement is quite stiff, and it took me a while to understand that it works by tile. In my opinion, it’s not a functional mechanic for a platform game.

As soon as I understood that I could transform into what I wanted, I tested what the squirrel does, and I hit the box in the first level to the right, which is the wrong direction, and the box doesn’t reset when changing screens, and you can’t pull the box, only push it, so I got stuck. I thought about killing myself to reset the level and continue, but when I died, the game closed.

Visually, it’s nice, the music could use a bit more work, but it’s okay, as are the sound effects. However, I can’t say the game is good due to the level design flaw at the beginning and the game simply closing when I die. These are aspects that, if improved, would definitely make it much more enjoyable to play.

Thank you for playing and for taking time to provide feedback. We probably should have set the game genre as "puzzle", instead of "platformer" as it's not really a platformer. The game closing when dying is a bug that slipped by us. I never thought to reset the "room" when changing screen, this is a good idea.

The grid-based controls really give it that GB feel. Good choice of palette and the transformations are reasonable. A very spooky thing is, at least on my end, that the game crashes every time I get a game over.

This is really cute! Some tutorial levels would have gone a long way, but the work you’ve done shows a lot of promise. I can really see where this would go if you had more time!

Thanks for the nice comment! We plan on making a complete version of the game, and we will definitely keep your feedback in mind.

My cat's name is Spooky and I almost made a game themed around her, so I already love this before even playing it.

Love the concept of switching to different animals with different abilities.

That's lovely to hear! I used to have a cat named Spooky too, and this game was based on him. Thank you for the great feedback!
