How does your game meet GBJam's theme?
you play as a witch smacking various monsters around with a broom and tossing them in a cauldron

The game looks really good, very polished! The cauldron/spell making mechanics is fun and the platforming feels pretty good. There are times where trying to reach a particular ledge gets a bit frustrating. Great game!
This is really good! The gameplay is very charming, I wish there was more! The art is fantastic. This could totally be a full game with a big more work!
This is great!! Really great start to a full game, once I read the instructions I enjoyed finding all the spells and seeing how they worked. Background art gives this one a 5/5 on graphics, they're super-well polished. Really just needed some music!!
too bad there is no muusic! i tthink tthis is a bbase for a really solid game honestly, i really like how the enemies cann actually hit eachother!
overall really nice!!!
looks and feels really good to play. the Cauldron mechanic is pretty interesting. I hope to see this concept developed further. Nice job!
This one gets easy top marks for "gameboy soul". I feel like I could have played it way back when.
Love your take on the classic platformer format. Being able to cook enemies into spells is a very nice idea, and once you get the hang of summoning and throwing your cauldron around, it becomes very fluid. All the monsters have very distinct visual designs and movement patterns, which is great to make them quickly recognizable, enabling the player to be strategic about how to engage them, and also give them personality of their own - the little glove hand guy, for instance, is a huge jerk, as far as I'm concerned.
One thing I'd recommend is adding an explanation of the controls into the game itself. I had to keep checking the itch page for which button did what at first (which isn't all that unlike having to reference a game's manual back in the day!), and that took me away from the flow of things at times.
All in all, very good job here! Cheers!
That was fun! The art and character design is stunning; it hits that cartoon-gothic vibe perfectly. I also liked experimenting with the witch's abilities.
It's a cool gameplay prototype with a really interesting set of mechanics, but I'm not sure if the balance works. The amount of effort it takes to boil enemies also requires putting myself in unnecessary danger, when I can just bash away and jump over enemies instead. I might have missed something, but the ease-of-use could use some work.
Those eyeballs are really good at juggling the witch! Those things can just kill the player with no escape.
The sound effects are competent, but a little loud.
All-in-all, good work!
Really impressed with this game, especially the gameplay and graphics! The only thing that's missing is the music. Great effort!
