Very impressive. Controls were a bit tricky since the player character keeps defaulting to facing down when you stop running, but this is a very solid start. Looking forward to see this developing more. Congrats!

Developer

Thanks! Yeh, definitely agree about the controls. Gonna change it so that you continue facing your last direction to make shooting feel better.

It's very nice to see a game created specially for hardware with a huge number of features. Big kudos on this.

I was really curious on how you solved the shooting since I also made a shooter that would work best for dual sticks, but is limited to a single d-pad. I solved this issue by disabling movement and having the d-pad now free to shoot in any direction. Not sure this would work for a fast paced shooter such as Binding of Isaac though.

Cool game and looking forward to the post jam version. Just be careful with the IP, asking for money when wanting to play could be a legal issue.

Every nitpick I have about this game gets obsolete by the fact that this can running on a real, actual, freaking gameboy, and it was done in one week.

You have my respects.

Wowowowow! Binding of Isaac on Gameboy, what an absolute delight! This is a such a wonderful treat. The only nit pick I *had* is when I first played, I was getting frustrated with the control of shooting the tears being so tricky. But then I read the one line in your instructions where you said you could hold down the fire button to lock in your aiming direction. Once I figured that out, this game played wonderfully mechanic wise.

Building this in C too, AND it can be ran on GB Hardward?? Kuddos to you; really really awesome. I'd love to see you build upon this; music, sounds, varying enemies, bosses, etc. I believe you could do this justice just from the framework you've built for this jam. I really hope to see more come from this, I'd definitely come back and play more!!

Outstanding job!!

Wow that's impressive. Amazing job.

Had a really good time playing your game today! Really awesome to see such a great idea come from a great game! The fact that you also built this to work on a gameboy blows me away! Plus you've got some really nice building blocks here and can't wait to see more! :D

My only fuss about the game is shooting can be hard to switch directions quickly with out running in to the enemies in a tight spot XD

But overall very awesome!

Here is the game play from today over on my gaming channel :D

[The Binding of Isaac: Game Boy Edition] Played By Carbs

Keep up the good work!!

I'm amazed by how well you were able to recreate the Binding of Issac even with gameboy limitations considered. This is a really impressive demake and I only wish you had been able to find ways just to squeeze a little bit more onto the cartridge. Lots of fun.

Thanks! I'm planning on continuing development and adding a bunch more featues in the future.

Great to see so many real ROMs, and this one feels so nice & polished. Loading this one onto a cart now… need more practice!

Isaac is my favorite game, It was a very funny experience. I was surprised for the proc-gen

Wow. Binding of Isaac is one of my all-time favorite games, so I was excited to try this. Then I saw that is was an actual Game Boy rom. Talk about going above and beyond- this is awesome! I put it on my Everdrive, and I'm actually playing it on my Game Boy Pocket. It's just insane that you pulled this off. OK, enemy variety is a little lacking, there's no audio and there isn't a boss exactly.... but how can I complain? You made an actual Game Boy game for the jam. Major kudos. Easiest 5/5 on Gameboy-ness imaginable.

Wow it's sick to see the game on actual hardware, didn't think I'd see that! I'm glad you enjoyed it, I'm hoping to carry on expanding the game in the future as I ran into some size limitations and didn't have time to optimise, so the content is quite lacking. Thanks for playing!
