Some good scares in the game, nice job! I made it to the end :) I like the top-down view, and it's a good shot at the on/off theme. Thanks for sharing your work on this!
And if you haven't had a chance to check out my game Foxy Boom Boxy, I would appreciate any feedback, thanks!
This was a great idea. Very scary game.
I made a playthrough of your game.
The feels of the game is well implemented. Nice take on the theme as well.
Survival horrors are really unique experiences and I understand the appeal of this genre. This game includes some of the better aspects of the survival horror genre by limiting the player's options and providing a sense of tension at all times. However, I feel like this game overstayed its welcome after the second level but the overall experience was still really cool. My only real complain would be that the dialogue is really hard to read, which really made me lose interest in the story early on. But I think there is a solid foundation for a really cool horror game in this entry.
What a nice adventure game. The blacklight ability is pretty cool; it let's the darkness have an important strength over the lit room.
There's a nice balance between the player's ability and the enemy. There's just enough sprint to meaningfully outmaneuver them, but it's not a cakewalk, and I still got caught a few times out of my own failure.
The story was a decent execution of a classic premise. Though, I found the dialogue from picking up the knife quite funny in how blunt it is.
Great work!
Pretty fun trying to find the puzzles and the lights. I really enjoyed it.
I'm a rather squeamish person, so I tried to cheese the game as much as possible. The problem is your game stick to the theme so much it pretty much covers itself.
You can outwalk the monster yes, but the lack of light, the audio design choice of only hearing your footsteps, you are very incentivized to keep the lights on. However, certain puzzles require you to NOT turn on the light in order to progress. I can't believe I got engaged by a horror game so much I beat it and 100%ed the collectables.
And the game also tracks that in the extra sections, 10/10.
Spooky game. I suck at survival horror and still managed to beat it in the end. The parts that made nervous were the parts where I had to keep the lights turned out and find the numbers needed to unlock certain doors or activate the stars needed to get the number combination. My least favorite part was the part where I was in a narrow hallway and had to click on the numbers to unlock the doors. I kept on losing at that part. Altering the controls to make it so that players can input the code with keyboard or by having the player activate switches or break open boxes with a knife would be better IMO.
Also, that twist ending made me realize why the game was called "You Can't Escape." O_O
I'm glad you enjoyed the game, I'm aware that the input you write code with can be improved, unfortunately I haven't had the time to improve it. After the jam I will definitely fix it. Thanks for your feedback
Nice, I enjoyed it! Fun exploration and not overly difficult. My only feedback would be that it would probably feel more natural for the dash button and the examine button both be mapped to space instead! Great entry! If you have a chance, please play and rate my entry as well :)
Glad you enjoyed the game, thanks a lot for the feedback on the dash and examine button, I will improve it in the future.
Really enjoyed playing the game <3
Lights off ! D:
Lights On ! <3
i also loved the puzzles in the game, from searching the keys to opening doors with secret codes :0
overall, great job ! :D
Good game but the graphics could be improved! Well done :)
Would you mind taking a moment to check out my game as well and provide a rating? Your feedback would be greatly appreciated. Game Link
So much better with the boost! Thank you! Still a very fun game (not sure you needed the scary heartbeat sound right out the gates, but I still enjoyed it). Great work! The theme connection could have been a bit stronger I feel.
