I couldn't get the eating mechanic to work, and the gameplay is a bit confusing.

There's a lot of things going on here but thankfully they all work well! I don't often play clicker games and sadly this one does fall into the same trap; after playing for a while there's not enough new things happening to keep you engaged.

There were two difficulties but maybe you should try increasing the difficulty over time, or perhaps even a shop to buy more powerful knives and such; at least this would provide a clear goal to work towards. I noted that you referred to this as a "Psychological Horror". Perhaps I missed something, or I'm just not scared enough of spiders to understand it, because I was not at all scared when playing.

The audio was decent and did indeed fit the retro graphics style you chose, but it did seem to loop a bit too fast. Besides that, I thought that the thumbs down/thumbs up system was a really good idea as some reflex based gameplay was enough to keep me interested enough in playing until I died. There's a good use of the theme "reusable" too, but I think you could do without being able to buy a new knife; it sort of makes the ability to fix the knife less important.

Even though the game had no tutorial, I understood the instructions on the game page well enough to work out what I was doing. I've learned one thing from this game about killing spiders, eating spiders and fixing knives: it's a process.

Nice game, and I'll surely play again if you choose to update it in the future.

Creative idea! I really like the vintage graphics

I think this is nice idea and you have a great base for a post jam version doing some polishing. Congrats!

the game's controls are confusing, so couldnt really get that horror feel as i was just trying to figure out what to do and was too focused on the thumbs up and down icon but at least i ate a spider xD

This feels like a game I would've played on floppy disc at the library in 1988. I really like the concept. Other people have said they were confused, but I read your directions you posted below the 'run game' area and understood just fine :)

I found the combination of the music & sound effects to be a bit difficult to enjoy.

I think you have a very interesting idea here, that with some polish could be quite enjoyable. If you continue work on it, I look forward to seeing it.

Controls are very obtuse like most have said. I have no idea what I'm doing. Point and clicks and horror kinda go hand in hand too. If there was a simple tutorial, I'd probably rate it higher.

I have no idea what I am doing, I am clicking things and animations and sounds are playing, send help X D

Developer

Exactly XD! (Yeah you have to send a spider and hit when the thumbs up are showing)

Submitted(+1)

I'm no idea what I'm doing or why, but I ate the spider :)

Developer(+1)

They are nutritional and give you health, so that's a plus! Also you have to send a spider, kill, eat, repeat. You know, life.

I was confused xD took me a while to find the send button. I would say its a great game for arachnophobes but then you went and put a ‘eat’ button… imagine the Psychological Horror you’ve caused :P

Developer(+1)

I didn't have time to make an eating animation xD

It's hard to tell if I'm doing well or not.  Other than that it's great.

To Horror for me

I’m not quite sure if I played it correctly, I don’t know if that’s with me or with the way feedback is structured

the entire time I was waiting for a jumpscare because it said horror. it truly is a psvchological horror game. interesting concept though. graphics are simple yet pleasing. the main thing I wish it had is more touch feedback because I often got confused if the button worked and if im doing it correctly.
