This game wasn't too difficult to get a hang of, and the puzzles didn't give me much trouble. However, that doesn't mean it was any less fun! The visuals were a cute, pixellated style, and I loved how both the backgrounds and the music changed with each "area": it was a nice touch that gave the game variety. One Time Puzzle was short, sweet, and generally pleasant to the point where it felt like the game equivalent of a cup of nice tea.
Good job!
Super cool game. Pretty simple but extremely fun at the end. The only thing I would add is the explanation of the controls because even if these are pretty simple, people might not want to guess. Great work!
You can find the controls on the itch page :D I already have an idea on how I want the tutorial pop ups to work though, so that will be something to work on ^^
I really liked the music and thought that it suited the mood of the game really well. You might want to fix the loop of the track on the main menu though: there is a click as the track finishes and loops back to the start. I've found that, if a wav loops seamlessly, compressing to an mp3 can still cause problems (clicks or other audio glitches as the music loops back around) but ogg files tend to keep a seamless loop if you achieve one with a wav. Worth looking into for polish week? I'd also consider adding in sfx for different interactions (jumping, reaching the portal, interacting with the user interface and menu buttons etc) and it would be great if the character disappeared as it reaches the portals, too.
I actually found the gameplay to be one of the more interesting aspects of the game. Like you say, there is probably lots of possibility to add complexity and interest in the level design, and perhaps to introduce additional mechanics if you develop this further.
Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed playing this :)
Thanks for your feedback!
You are right about the audio formats, mp3 can only store whole bits or smth which is why it usually adds a little silence at the end, making it not well loopable. The audio used are .ogg though so I'll have a look into that. I was also planning on adding sfx, but I didn't find the time within the deadline.
We will probably slowly work on the project going forward to make it a small little title that's not as repetitive.
Audio and sound were nice. After you get use to the "w" button to interact, the controls feel nice. The lvs felt kinda the same, but overall: nice take on the theme. Fun and short. Felt good :)
Nice and simple. A perfect duration for the rating. I completed it and like you said in the description, it was a little boring, but not without potential. I liked it
good take on the theme, I got a very fun and chill vibe playing it and listening to the music. excellent work. keep it up.
Good job to both of you. The puzzles were a bit simple but, with the restrictive nature of the movement, I'm not sure how much more complicated they could have been. The sounds were fun but I'm not sure if they were yours or not so I will change my rating accordingly if you reply to let me know you created them. Also, a short bio on the game or you or your process or something about your journey creating it would be good.
Thank you very much! Everything was created from scratch. Crystal did all the artwork and I coded everything and made the music.
Even awesomer! Rating adjusted.
Great Job! The game has a nice feel to it and the transitions between levels are great. I can see a lot of potential for new mechanics in the later levels that will make you think a bit more carefully about how you use your movement keys.
this is a very different take on the theme and I really enjoyed it
The audio is very nice, I love how calm and cutesy it was, it matched the simple but nice pixel art very well. The music fade between stages was a nice touch, Great job on making the game! I imagine only being able to use each input once put a few challenges in creating levels and with more mechanics later to expand on it all, very nice!
Cute! Like you said a bit repetitive as all the puzzles were the same, but more mechanics like springs, reverses, teleporters, and the like I could see making it a good puzzle game!
