Looks great. Was a bit confused by the gameplay though, seems like I could just right click to get loads of cards then defeat everything. What's the highest wave you've managed?

If you spam draw cards you will eventually lose points. Its a trade, cards for score :)

Hey Cake, It's Niqle. Loved how polished this game was. Only issue was I felt the theme got kinda lost in the gameplay seeing how you can at any time draw a bunch of cards to use at your disposal. Otherwise, some cards I felt would've been really useful are cards that let you turn in place or cards that let you attack diagonally or even ones that let you shoot behind you.

Some feedback: There needs to be a way to prevent card spam. Maybe gaining a card only when you move? Like a risk\reward style mechanic?

Thanks for the feedback! Cards seems to be the overall issue with players as of now. We had to add the card spam as a last minute fix to what otherwise was a boring system. We will look into ways of making it more interesting 😁
Great music, fun game, the visuals were good. It was a bit confusing and information could probably be conveyed better. In a full release this would likely constitute a tutorial of some sort. I also think moving should automatically draw you a card, or something like that. Card drawing should be better integrated into the game. Overall though, lots of fun!

The game was quite varied with the different enemy types and and cards, but it seemed a bit muddled. It was a bit confusing, and it seemed like you could just spam cards to get the one you wanted. It just seemed to be missing something. Overall pretty cool though, tons of fun!

Very cool! Reminded me of Crypt of the Necrodancer. It took me a while to figur out that I needed to hit space for the cards (but I also didn't read any instructions, tbh). The only thing I would point out is that you can still earn points after death.

Amazing style, great sound design, clever mechanics and risk vs. reward system with the cards... I really love this kind of turn-based game.
I found it really difficult to understand some enemies' moving patterns or what they did, like the cactus and the red mage, I also didn't feel like the theme of "only one" was very present here. To me the theme was more about taking stuff away, but whatever. This game is just amazing. Looks like something that should cost money.
Thank you! Yes agreed, the enemy patterns were not telegraphed propperly and is something we would like to improve if we do future itterations.
The idea was that you can play multiple cards each turn in a card game to chain moves together and we strapped that down to only one card each turn. But I do agree that it isn't super heavy on the theme. The idea is that you can only do one move each turn :)
The gamr is Lovely however for some reason the window on my pc was really small and i couldnt make it bigger, otherwise it's really neat.
Haha yea the 640x360 res it quite small- we'll add fullscreen for the next build!

Feels great to play! Super fluid. I wasn't entirely sure what the cards did but I think I figured them out! I suppose that's part of the fun :D

Pretty neat, a little hard to pick up and quite complex once you get into it.
Interesting little game! Once I realised you stand still to earn a new card, I had a blast! Learning enemy patterns and holding on to the card at the right time is the main progression and it felt great with the juicy sfx! I also loved the music. Well done guys!

Yea there were quite a few rules/tips that weren't mentioned but I guess that's where the fun comes in haha
On Fred's point, Right-clicking spawns cards but it drains your Deck quicker and refilling the deck loses you 500 points. Its hard to notice so that's for the post-jam builds haha
it is lacking balance but the design is quite fun, though i didn't really got why you can pick as many cards as you can hold without ending your turn but it's not automatic. I feel like the time limit is too short, it soon become very hard to understand what is going on, by the time you look the turn has ended. I'm tempted to say try without a time limit, a bit like heat signature.
Otherwise it's really pretty and the feeling is great while playing, well done ;)

The reason for unlimited drawing is because it gives you the choice to drain your deck quicker ( and lose points when it empties out ) or to wait for each turn to rack up points. The Deck is indicated as the Score's UI on the bottom right- you lose 500pts when it empties out.
And I do agree w/the time constraints! We just kept it at that speed so it matches the music- could make it pause when you hover over cards
