Really well polished. I got scared a couple of time. The mechanic is interesting and works well.

I had only one technical hiccup, sometimes the movement and light jitter a lot.

Developer

Thank you for the kind reply!

Would it be possible to know which platform you had the issues on and more specifics? We haven't had any such hiccups so far so details would be nice!

Submitted(+1)

I play on a recent Mac Mini. Here a video of the issue.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztfvVE3pK3M&feature=youtu.be

Developer

Thank you for the video! I'll make sure to look into it, it seems it might be a platform issue.

The mac version was exported with the stable release instead of the latest experimental used for windows, so I'll try using the experimental editor to make another build.

That was fun, great game!

Really good game! amazing art n nice to see someone using Godot too

Submitted(+2)

Clever and fitting concept and the atmosphere was very well-made, those monsters creeped me out big time!

Developer

Thank you for the kind feedback I'm glad you enjoyed it!

We haven't worked on a horror game before so it was challenging and fun to figure out!

The screams scared the heck out of me! It looks awesome and plays awesome as well! I didn't feel like I needed to turn off the candle, except, in the tutorial. I had to run few levels multiple times, so I could beat them, so it was a bit changing also. I think this is a good, solid game!

Developer

Thank you for the positive feedback!

We tried to design the levels to encourage certain behaviour but it's possible to not use the candle as intended!

It'll lead to a messy playthrough but it's doable still XD

Nice graphics!

Developer

Let me know if you also submitted a game and you'd like me to try it out!

This game looks really nice! Would work as a mobile game imo.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the positive feedback!

And yes you're right it would work as a mobile game, that's a great idea

My biggest surprise is not seeing only praise in the comments. Seriously, Amazing game! a simple concept,  captures theme quite well, FUN,  clever and even pretty and polished. I can see the argument that there wasn't that many level, but with the limited time, I much appreciate the complete & polished package you delivered.

Best one so far for me! Good job.

Nothing like yours but I think its nice! Mine does have a bug, so I suggest the fix version (same game).

Thanks

Very nicely done! I like how you used dual-purpose design with the candle - it allows you to see, but also makes others see you (which you can use to lure them into traps).

Seeing in one direction isn't new, but seeing only one tile at a time is something I personally haven't seen, so very cool take on the jam's theme - it really engages the spacial orientation, and I think it can have a lot of potential in making the player feel completely lost if the levels get just a bit bigger. I could easily imagine having an intricate plan on how to lure a monster into spikes, only to accidentally encounter another, reach a dead end, then running into the spikes I wanted to lute the monster to in the first place! (On that note, bigger open spaces could make really great use of this mechanic after the more basic corridor levels)

Overall, great work! 5/5 on all counts.

Developer

Thank you for you feedback!

Those are great comments too! We wanted to make smaller levels so the jam version can be solid and polished, so we tried to avoid open spaces, but what you're saying is spot-on! If we do an expanded version then that's probably the first thing we'll be exploring.

Thanks again for you playing!

A lot of really great stuff to unpack here. I really love the art and atmosphere. The lighting effect was very well executed. Definitely makes me want to give Godot another shot!

In terms of design, I loved the risk/reward aspect of the candle. In order for you to see, you had to let the monsters see you. Very clever. Also turned into a bit of a memory game when you're running away.

Really enjoyed this. Well done!

Thank you for your feedback!

I'm glad you liked the game! It took a bit of effort to design all of it since we haven't made horror or turn-based games before, but it was a lot of fun!

Did you submit a game? I'd love to try it out too

Submitted(+1)

I did! It's called MONOCHEM, and you can try it out here! It's a puzzle game where you work on a chemical factory line removing duplicate molecules until there's only one of each left.

I really liked it, for something so small and simple it spooked me. However I would've liked to see more enemies, different puzzles, etc to see how far you can push the theme, it felt a bit too short for me but the base is solid, good job!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for your feedback!

We were actually worried and didn't want to make too many levels and complexity so instead we focused on making 6 different levels to get the message across.

We've never worked on a horror game before so it was a lot of work to design some of this stuff.

Thanks for playing the game!

Submitted(+2)

Interesting to see that we are using a similar base idea (horror+puzzle+light) but different execution.

Great artwork!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback!

I'll try out your game now too!

(+2)

love it great fun too play, easily beatable, not too hard, great art, one enemy in the last level stopped moving for some reason but other then that i really liked the game also its a bit short

Developer (2 edits) (+1)

I'm happy you like the game!

You are actually a better player than most people, a lot of people thought it was actually hard so we didn't want to make it harder!

Thank you for your feedback! There is a rare bug with the monster in the last that we fixed but we can't upload a new version until the game jam is over (but it's quite rare so we are not very worried ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

Submitted(+1)

Really damn good puzzle game. with great artwork to boot.

A really clever game, the fantastic sound design had me totally stressed out as well. I love it

Developer

Thanks I'm glad you like it!

We've never worked on horror games before so the sound design was pretty challenging but very fun to do!
