Simple, but really fun. I'm still trying with 48 sheep! The sheep respond just right so that you feel like you can herd them without having control over them.

Developer

Thank you so much! :D

I'm glad to hear that :)

Nice pixel art, thank for this

Please try our too,:https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461656

Developer

Thank you! :)

I will make sure to play it once I have more time :)

This is an incredibly polished game, nice work! It looks like a lot of of great art (and very cute music) went into this project. I really like the simplicity of the game: One room, one objective (one dog); it all makes the game very approachable. Also I suck at herding sheep haha, I always missed just one of the 16 sheep.

Great job!

Developer

Thank you so much! :D I'm really glad you enjoyed my game :)

Simple yet fun, i really liked the pixel art and music here, it feels quite chill which is a good thing ^^

I think while the gameplay is good and responsive its kinda hard to know how to position yourself to have the sheep go where you want, maybe having a button to bark when you want to and make the sheep move could help ?

Anyway not that big of an issue it's a nice entry, and i also like the fact you can run around on the menu screen :p

Nice game. Well done guys :)

Developer

Thanks! :)

Thanks, yes I did want to implement "controllable barking" but I ran out of time... Well I'll give you a hint, the sheep just go in the exact opposite direction away from you :P

Yeah, I wanted to make the menu screen a bit more fun, I'm glad it worked! :)

Thanks so much! :D

Submitted

Oh i see, no problem 48 hours goe by real fast :o so i can totally understand, and really neat i dea it definitively made the menu more fun ^^

Developer (1 edit)

Yeah, thanks :)

Also thank you so much for following me! It means a lot :)

But just a warning I won't be active for the next two weeks because I'm going on vacation, but after that I'll continue to work on my mobile game! :)

Simple but cute game. I wonder what would happen if this game was turn-based?)

Developer(+1)

Thanks :) Ooh, that's quite interesting... Some food for thought, thanks! :)

The art looks pretty good.  The game's fine for what it is, but I've herded sheep in so many games at this point (from Twilight Princess to Jak & Daxter to Donkey Kong 64) that it doesn't feel super fresh.  I think it could have been more interesting and more in line with the theme if you were herding only one sheep, but there'd have to be a twist to make it interesting.  Or maybe instead of having one sheep, the dog could've only been able to bark once before its teeth went flying out and you had to retrieve them before barking again.  Idk, just throwing out ideas.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing my game :) Really? Well I'm not a big gamer so I haven't really heard of sheep herding before in games, but there are a lot of games out there and I'm not surprised :P Thanks for telling me though.

Yeah I wanted to add a bunch more stuff but I ran out of time... I was also thinking about how to incorporate the theme better, but I couldn't really come up with anything in the 48 hours.

But still, thanks for playing :)

Nice, challenging game - a simple review for a simple game! Good job :)

Developer

Thank you! :D

Great job! I love the graphics and cute animals, and the game is fun! It's also definitely a unique take on the theme. :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it! :D

Developer(+1)

And yeah, you guessed it right (on your community topic) :P

Cute little game with easy to understand mechanics!
The strategy got a bit repetitive, but I think adding simple things like various levels with difficulty multipliers would work brilliantly! Add some fences, maybe something else that would occasionally spook the sheep so they might be less afraid of you and escape? Just thoughts, I think its quite original though! <3 Very cute! <3

Also, I got a score of 54 and would have gotten 60 were it not for one sneaky sheepy!

Developer(+1)

Thanks!

Yes, those are all great ideas and I also had some in store (wolves, controllable barking, etc.) that I wanted to implement but unfortunately 48 hours is very short and I ran out of time...

Thank you very much! I really appreciate it :)

Ah yes, there's always only one, isn't there? :P

It's cute, it fits the theme and has a neat game-play. I've played it multiple times and couple times with the max. number of cheeps and could beat the game without much effort. So, i would say some variation in level structure or some additional sheep behavior would be nice to make the game more challenging. But nevertheless this is a nice entry. Well done :)

Developer

Thank you so much for playing my game! :)

Yes, I would have liked to balance the game a little more but I ran out of time pretty quickly. I did in fact have a couple of ideas for the sheep and levels that I wanted to add but again I ran out of time sadly.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it :) It really means a lot, especially after seeing what you managed to do in your game!

You're welcome :)
This is what is a game jam about. Trying out new ideas, getting feedback and learning from mistakes. We participated in multiple number of jams and now we know whats important and whats not, and we make still a lot mistakes but other ones :D

Developer

:)

Yes, exactly. :)

This game is so relaxing ! i love the background music and the feel of the game overall

Developer

Thanks! :D

Awesome experience! I loved the little sheeps sound, so cute! My only problem was fitting them in the hole, they kinda get stuck in the left corner. Maybe if there was enough space in the left side, so I could move them more freely. Anyway, it was a fun little experience, congratulations! :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! :D (believe it or not but it's not real sheep, a human made that noise! XD). Yeah, the pen and door were a little rushed and there were some problems with the colliders... :| I found it best just to leave them alone and let them wander out :P

Thanks so much though! It really means a lot :)

awesome!

Fun little game!

Design[4/5] I think it would fit the theme better if there was only one sheep that you shouldn't herd (like a wolf in disguise that's trying to sneak in).
Theme[5/5] Only one minute.
Originality[5/5] Very funny.

Developer

Wow, thank you so much for the kind words! I really appreciate it! :D

Yeah, I thought about only one sheep but that seemed a little boring :P Also I was hoping to add wolves, but sadly I ran out of time and decided to polish the game off instead :P

Thank you so much for your feedback, I will also make sure to check out your entry! :)

I like how 42 is the maximal number of sheep you can choose xD

I've wondered whether it'd be cool if the dog barking action could be controlled manually to give those sheep in front of you a little boost xD Of course you shouldn't be able to use it all the time but it might feel pretty rewarding when you use it in the right moment.

Developer

Yup :P

Yes, that's exactly what I wanted to implement! XD However I ran out of time... But that definitely would be great, it's a shame...

Thanks so much for playing my game though! :D

This is really fun :D I like it. Needs probably a little more challenge to make it replayable :) Nice work though :)

Developer

Thanks so much! :D Yeah, I sadly ran out of time though so I quickly added the feature where you can change how many total sheep there are, but I wish I could have added more. Thanks for playing my game though, I really appreciate it! :D

Submitted

Very funny and nice game :D I like it!

Thanks so much! :D

Little nice game)

Developer

Thanks :)

Simple game with a relaxing athmosphere :) Like others pointed out, space ends the game. I like that you can chose the number of sheep, selecting the difficulty in doing so. Good Job!

Developer

Thanks!

Yeah, sorry about that. I have added a warning on the webpage though, if that helps :P

Thanks for playing my game, and I've very glad that you enjoyed it! :D

Submitted

It's a fun game :) however when I press the space bar it ends the game, giving me whatever time is left as a score, which is more than I could do on my own actually gathering the sheeps.
Maybe it's a debug thing that stayed in the build ?
but actually if the sheeps gave more than one points it could be fun to stop the game when there's a good balance of time left vs sheep left

Developer

Thanks! :) Oh no... You're absolutely right, I forgot to take that out! I'll make sure to include a warning on the webpage, thanks for letting me know! :P

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that, sorry.

Submitted

Yeah I think people will understand it's a bug and just not use it.

What I mean is:

- Right now sheeps give you 1pt.
- Let's say you make them give you... 3pts
- Now at any second in the game I have the choice to either press SPACE to end the game right now and cash out on my high time score, but with not many sheeps, ooooor let the game running a few more seconds which lowers my score but I could use that time to win more sheeps, thus a better score. Since sheeps are worth three points they're "worth 3 seconds" and the game is now a compromise between time score and sheep score and to balance those I have to make the decision to stop the game early or not

Developer

:P

Oh, that's pretty interesting. I like how it adds an element of strategy, although that's not what I was really going for in this game :P Thanks for the suggestion though, and I'll think about similar concepts in my future games :) Also thank you for taking the time to play and comment on my game! :D
