This was quite fun! I liked the various visual effects, they were nice touches. In terms of gameplay, my only complaint is the huge colored balls that sometimes move too fast to be able to avoid collisions. I liked how the various hazards could collide with each other, and I found the bullets affected by gravity quite interesting. It felt like the best way to regain control was to use it all up and wait for a wormhole; the green hexagons felt a bit rare and not refilling enough for the effort (one of them I used up more control trying to maneuver the spaceship to get it than it refilled). The audio chosen fit well with the game, and I was having lots of fun, great job!

Fun game and really cool concept! I like the idea of the Universe getting out of control so I don't see why the ship needs to lose control as well, I think the game would be much more fun trying to control a ship in a galaxy that's slowly collapsing and just focus on that. Also the fact that literally everything makes you lose control sucks a lot of fun out of it, players feel like they're being punished just for doing things. However, I think the game game has great potential and I did enjoy playing it, good job!

cool concept but i think the crystal spawn rate just way to low

Here's my tought:

  • Moving trough the map is hard, and it feels like sliding on some ice...
  • Hitting an destroying an asteori dosen't feel cool enough, takes time and dosen't alway gran you control...
  • Ah, and did I mention that trying to destry the asteroids makes you LOSE CONTROL??? So, don't even try...
  • Getting "Out Of Control" dosen't make you lose (it just takes away the controls for a little bit...), nor makes you lose control in any way (I'm talking about the various states of the control bar, NOT when the bar is empty), or at least seems like it... (It's just an annoying bat to keep in mind then)
  • Since destroying asteroid is so hard, losing shield is almost granted... And so fast Game Overs...
  • The best chance you have to win at this game is by doing nothing, since everithing is so punishing... But doing nothing is not fun... So it's either "do nothing and lose fast because asteroids hit your shield" or "play the game and lose fast because the game feels like sliding on ice, and avoiding the asteroids is hard as hell. Plus the game punshes you for playing the game, so expect to be removed the controls every now and then, so you can lose even faster"

The concept is cool, i personally like the execution, but (if you ignore all of that i said) the game is fun... (only a little bit, tho)

EDIT (Important): I feel like tis comment is way too harsh than it should be, and not very contructing overall, i'm sorry about that (i was tired when i writed that comment), please take this comment with a grain of salt... I'm sorry for that...

Don't worry you're good, we all get frustrated sometimes <3

Pretty nice graphics and fluid movement. I like the idea of wormholes to fill up the control bar. Also, the universe going haywire when your control decreases was implemented pretty nice.

I wish the crystals were more common. Probably you could make it so that almost every asteroid drops one but maybe make them give different amount of control. Otherwise it was kinda hard to get what you need to do as shooting the asteroids seemed not to do much. Small crystals would show the goal in this case I believe.

All in all, nicely done!

A neat demo. I felt like the spawn rate for crystals was quite low, but the number of astroids coming in stayed manageable. Overall a decent submission.

This game looks super nice, great presentation! With some refinement and polish this would be super nice to play again! I like the mechanic, I like the controls, I like the design. I think if the UI was either more transparent or smaller, it would have felt nicer though. Overall good job!

I'd also really appreciate feedback on my game (If you want) https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2020/rate/695512

Hey, I always try to review anybody who reviews mine, but I'm on a mac and can't play yours :(

nice one. loved the graphics and music. out of contros sequance is a bit too long, but you can refine it later. would be nice to be able to zoom out more as well. i also felt like the wormhole was at the same position relative to the player? maybe it was a coincidence.

Interesting mechanic, however the controls just didn't feel fun to use. I think instead it would be better for the player to rotate towards the mouse, because the current controls make it impossible to aim

The UI was way too big and should have went transparent if something important was under it. The particle effects were nice but the art in general isn't really good. The idea is pretty cool but it was hard to understand.

Particle effects were really nice! Enjoyed it!

I didn't get a lot of crystals to refill my control though.

This was a cool concept, I like how the movement acted as a resource. :)

Pretty cool game!

However it didn't seem to matter whether I shot the asteroids or not, all outcomes led to loss of control and me flying into a wormhole, so there was ultimately no difference between winning or losing. It's still pretty cool what you did in a short time span, I liked the addition of particle effects.

Nice concept! I really enjoyed finding wormholes and dodge asteroids.

But I would make the UI much smaller. It is REALLY big.

Hi there, great work on getting a game out for the jam. The core concept of the game is kind of cool, it's reminiscent of the old moon-lander type games where moving consumes fuel.

To improve the game, you could:

  • Add a scoring system.
  • The UI takes up too much screen estate. You could indicate the shield level with graphics around the space ship and remove the shield UI all together. You could do something similar with the stability as well. Then you can remove the UI all together and the game will be more immersive.
  • When 'Out of control', you could still give the player some control so they don't feel like they are watching the game helplessly.

This game makes me go YES!

I like the way the controls are resources. I like a little bit crazier when I'm out of control than couldn't do any thing. Congratulation and good luck.

Cool twist on a classic, and the fact that you have to basically maneuver while pressing the least amount of buttons is something that I haven't seen yet. Solid Entry!

The whole your actions = your resource is a great concept. If you added a way where players can do something to help guide yourself into a wormhole, this would be even better. Great job!

This was a fun one in that it took the "Actions are a resource" idea and paired it with the rest of the game becoming more erratic.

Main critique is that drifting towards wormholes felt a it random. Maybe if there was some sort of indicator as to how close you were to the nearest wormhole they could be used tactically (Like going near one when low on control?)
