How does your game fit the theme?
Control is a resource in Parasite, a fast-paced roguelike in which you play as a parasite rushing to escape your underground prison. Take control of hosts, jumping from victim to victim as they try to stop your escape. Once in control, shoot-em-up until you find the next host. But be careful... if you run out of control, it's game over.

How come only 22 peeps have seen this?! More people should try this out
blown away by the creativity in this game, could definitely be expanded into a full release, good work!
Cool game, a different twist on the genre and it fits the theme very well!
I had a similar idea during the gamjam but then I developed it in a different way
Thanks for playing! I liked your take on the idea as well!
What a great idea! It needs some polish but man... i had such fun!
Glad you had fun! Thanks for playing!
Ow this a very cool concept !
I think it's a bit hard but i really liked the game :D
Glad you liked it! Balance is definitely something I would have worked on more with a bit more time. Thanks for your feedback!
I guess I need to start looking at tutorial more before playing the actual game, because I didn't know that I could possess others and died so many times XD
The tutorial in the main menu is really simple, intuitive and beautiful (all UI is clean and pleasing, I liked it). But probably adding the tutorial in the game itself will help users like me ahah
But once I got it, I really fell in love with the game. I always had the idea for this mechanic, so it was interesting to see someone else's execution. All the animations were smooth, and the game itself is not too hard, but not easy. Not many games achieve such a good balance in 2 days, so it is impressive! Keep up with the game, its potential is awesome
Really glad you liked it, thanks for your feedback!
Wow, this is a really clever concept, and the mechanics also tie in really well. Good job overall!
Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed!
This game is very cool! pretty challenging too, please keep working on it even after the jam, i think that with a bit of polishing it will became amazing, good job! Please check out my game too :D
Thanks so much!
Thank you for submitting your game to the stream! =)
Interesting mechanics, but I didn't understand what the advantage of using the gun. Anyway, I found it quite challenging and fun! Nice!
Thanks for playing and streaming!! Glad you had fun
Was not expecting that mechanic... very creative to control the parasite and jump between hosts!
Thanks for playing!
Glad you liked it!
Really nice idea! To echo what others are saying, I wish the gun play had more purpose, as switching hosts and never firing was the easiest way of progressing. In fact killing people is practically detrimental to you, as it robs you of a host and can leave you stranded.
Perhaps making shooting the means by which you switch hosts could help? Maybe the parasite shoots goo at people or something.. idk that's kinda weird, but something to think about if you ever continue!
Note: Had a bit of trouble running the game so I played the web version that was uploaded after.
Thanks for playing! I really like your idea of using the shooting mechanic to switch hosts, very clever! If I end up working on this game more, I'll definitely look into that. Thanks!
Very fun game, I really enjoyed the control mechanic as it made you frantically search for a host and really sped up the game. The gameplay felt really fluid most of the time when switching between hosts and was also very enjoyable. My only criticisms are first the artwork which seems to be in multiple different pixel styles which looks very strange , the camera which seems too far zoomed in on the player and finally the fact that shooting was mostly pointless since jumping between hosts was clearly the best strategy. Despite these issues, the concept is really good and the game is very well made. It has really good potential if you continue developing it, great work!
Glad you had fun! Thanks for all the feedback, I'll definitely consider your critiques if I end up continuing!
The visuals feel a bit mix-and-match, but the gameplay is fast and hectic - had the whole 'just one more try' thing going for it. Congrats on the game! Cheers
Thanks for playing and streaming!
Was a little short but overall a good submission. Like every other unity game I've played so far (from this jam) I had issues with widescreen support. Had to change resolutions to make it work. Movement was a bit wonky; kept getting stuck on walls and such. Music was good and I liked the slow-down effect when your health(?) bar got low.
Thanks for playing!
my Norton just deleted the game
Sorry you had problems with the game! There's a web version as well but I didn't finish it until after the jam ended. Here's the link: https://jacksonsdean.com/games/parasite.html
Keep in mind that it wasn't actually my submission and was finished later!
Checked out your game. Its super consistent and polished.
A cool game on the whole :)
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed!
Wow i didnt expect a rogue-like at this jam.
The game is really fun, with some more work on the aestetics it could make a cool steam game.
Thanks so much! Anything in particular that you would like to see improved about the aesthetics?
Amazing jam entry! I love the concept the controls feel great and everything works like you want it to work!
Here's my game if you want to play it (sorry for linking this but itch.io is bugged and isn't displaying it under my comment): https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2020/rate/698697
Thanks! Amazing game yourself!
