Just finished it. It's a fun little game. Well done :)

And if you had time, I'd be thankful if you try my submission <3

Thank you playing!

I will check out your submission as well!

this  feels like a mix of my entry and just shapes and beats in a good way.   No negative stuff to say tbh

Developer(+1)

Haha thanks! I've seen videos of just shapes and beats, is it worth it?

Submitted(+1)

yea shure ;D i play it on nintendo switch and it's really fun

I don't know if it's the most original idea with the changing directions concept, but it's fun, for sure. I found myself turning my head at some points to try to get my brain to cooperate.

Developer

Thank you for playing! I thought it would be quite original as I didn't know if anyone else had it, but eeh what can you do. The point was to make an already difficult game even harder, although I had to nerf a few enemies and give more lives as a result. Anyways, good luck with your entry!

Really cool idea. I thought I would make good on my word and come check out your game. I really like what your team has done here. Aesthetically the game is simple but it accomplishes what it sets out to do and the design language is clear and self explanatory. Even without having a visual key of how the controls were changing I felt it was pretty intuitive and never found it cumbersome. Hope you keep working on it.

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! I highly appreciate that you found the game quite intuitive and simple as that's what I was going for. Btw, I worked on it alone, no team. I really liked your game as well though! Quite interesting, especially the matrix style, I loved that. I might keep working on the game honestly, could be a fun bullet hell dodging game if I work on it a lot more.

Thanks and good luck!

Damn it's hard, did manage to get to wave 6 only, simple yet fun

Developer

Thanks for playing! Oh nice! Wave 6 is actually the final wave of the game, so well done! I didn't have time to make more and make it endless. Simple, fun and quick games are best for game jams IMO as most people play these games for about 5min on average.

I will check out your submission later!

Gotta give props for the art, it's a simple and clean aesthetic that compliments the gameplay real nice! I especially love the enemy variety, it's a nice touch that goes a long way in making the game replayable.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing! I'm essentially a full on programmer and not an artist, but I do try my best so thank you for your feedback. I tried to make as many enemies and waves as possible, but you only have so much time in a jam.

I will check out your submission later!

Simple and fun game, I love all the different obstacles that you introduce with each level. One thing I'd add is to display the controls somewhere, it gets very difficult trying to figure out how the controls changed while dodging obstacles at the same time.

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! I didn't have enough time to make an indicator for the change of controls. I thought about arrows in the corner structered like how the arrow keys on the keyboard are set up and then just rotate those depending on how they change. I guess I could also just give the player some more time to adapt before each new wave.

Anyways, I will check out your submission later!

Pretty manic trying to play this! Simple graphics, but fun gameplay.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Yeah the graphics are simple because I'm not much of an artist (I'm a full on programmer), but I hope it was good enough, will improve on art in the future hopefully!

Will check out your submission if you have one.

(+1)

Oh yeah, it was for sure enough for what was needed :)
Here's the game I worked on if you have time to check it out , thanks!

My favourite part was holding a yellow Sun (praise it) in my hands... it feels me with determination!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Haha, PRAISE THE SUN indeed. Gotta love the souls games. (I certainly hope that's what you're referring to xD).

Simple and fun game. I really like the difficulty progression, it isn't too hard or too easy.

Developer

Thank you for playing! I tried to make it difficult, but not too difficult, but playtesting by yourself is kinda hard because you eventually get good at your own game.

Submitted(+1)

Well well so simple yet so fun!! it gets harder as you go ahead that's what she said

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing! It definitely gets harder as you go ahead and the game only has 6 waves.

I will check out your submission later!

This is really cool! When I noticed my controls change (I didn't read the description like an idiot) I literally said "WOAH." I love bullet hell stuff like this, but one thing I'd like to see is some kind of indicator showing how your controls change, or maybe just a tiny grace period at the beginning of a wave. Really hard though, made it to wave 5!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! Yeah, I didn't have time to make an indicator for the change of controls. I thought about arrows in the corner structered like how the arrow keys on the keyboard are set up and then just rotate those depending on how they change.

Submitted(+1)

oh my god i didn't even last 2 levels rip

great execution tho!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! Haha, yeah I probably made it too hard. Playtesting alone makes you better at your own game so balancing can be a bit hard.

I will try out your submission later!

The pixel art looks nice, the idea is simple yet presented well. It surely fits the theme regarding controls. The player learns with every sunsequential play.

Btw, our clusterfuck:  https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2020/rate/700753

Developer

Thanks! The movement was a bit messy when building the game, but managed to fix it to feel alright. I hope you enjoyed! I will be trying out your game too!
