I was honestly a bit confused at first, since I thought the keys you used to move would be rebound. But it turns out that it's a game where the rules change. The premise is pretty good, but I think the levels are really tough, I couldn't beat this one.
The level’s overblown difficulty is just the result of a lack of play-testing. I actually didn’t know if it was fun or even possible, but I’m glad several people enjoyed it. Thanks for playing!
A very interesting experience. However, I would make the background slightly lighter or darker than the rest of the level as I sometimes found myself mistaking a part of the background for a wall when jumping. I also think checkpoints could be added. Other than that, very nice gameplay as well as a consistent art-style. Great game.
I was on the fence about whether people would mistake background tiles for the identical foreground tiles and that’s a great suggestion. Next time, I’ll use lighting to differentiate those layers. Checkpoints are a good idea, too. Thanks for playing and commenting!
the only issue i had was holding items but other than that it was pretty cool
Everyone's having problems with the hold button. I'll be fixing that first. Thanks!
great job on this one! love how you implemented the concept, especially how you actually tell the player what the new controls are unlike a lot of others that went with something similar
Appreciate the "tutorial" compliment--the floating text was kind of a last-ditch thing to act as an excuse for a tutorial, and I'm relieved that it worked out. Thanks for playing!
Nice concept! I liked switching between "powers" of the game. Nice presentation too.
Appreciated!
I really, really wanted to continue playing, but I found myself trying to jump forward and hold a computer with the keys W, D and S and the character didn't seem to agree with me. However, I understood the concept and I would love to see how you explore it in a more polished version. ;)
The visuals were really good!
Thanks! It seems everyone's having issues with S and I see that's a big mistake on my part. This'll absolutely change in any update.
Interesting concept! I like how much content was put into this. I think the different types are really cool, and definitely feel "out of control."
My suggestions for your post-jam version is for maybe a couple of grace seconds when it changes to the new control scheme, so that you know it's changing and have some slight time to prepare. Also, there's one part you can only get to if you have the flying ability, maybe you could make it easier to get to with the bouncy and wall jump ones as well?
I love the amount of effort and thought put into this. Good job, and congrats for making a jam game! :)
Really? I didn't feel like I made that much but if that what it looks like, I'll take it! Thanks for playing, and I'll consider everyone's suggestions if I change anything--I'll definitely improve the level, make more levels, and make a warning of some sort for the next rebound.
Funny game! A bit glitchy and buggy at times, but that should be expected for a jam game. The controls felt the same for me all the time, but I see what you were going for. Overall a decent entry to the jam!
If you want, please check out my submission.
Thanks! The glitches and bugs were an unpleasant surprise, unfortunately, as I didn't playtest. I'll give your game a try.
This one has great potential to be a great game! However, it seems that if you are trying to fly w/ a computer, you will be touching grounds eventually, cause the game over.
Maybe it's a bug? Otherwise I don't think you should assign item pickup with the button "S".
Post-jam, I'm seeing a ton of problems with S to pick-up and this will be addressed in the future if I make any updates. You shouldn't be able to fly with a computer, but I've seen a friend exploit this to fly with one. Thanks for playing and commenting!
Concept of changing controls each time is great. However, it can be really frustrating when the player loses a set of controls and falling to their death. So, I think some telegraphing about the next set of controls could be helpful.
Also, the level layout does not seem to be friendly to the player. Obstacles early on will already cause death to the player, making them start over. I think that you should start off simple, and do not give serious punishments to the player. Checkpoints will also help in making a platformer.
Good luck!
The telegraphing and checkpoints are great ideas! I might just use them. About the level design: I'm not a level designer of any sort. In an update I'll give more consideration to the level design because by the time I started the level, it was the last day of the jam. Super constructive; thanks for the comment!
Cool concept, but couldn't finish the game. I could fly with WASD but had to hold down S to grab the computer. With a little polish it should be a fun game!
Glad you like it! I'll try to address the flying problems as that seems to be the movement scheme with the most problems.
A nice and detailed game, though the hitboxes felt a bit jankey sometimes, getting stuck on environment but a really cool concept, I could see it expanded.
Thank you! Appreciate it! I plan on fixing/balancing a bunch of stuff for an update.
Really fun game, the art is really good too. Great work!
Thanks!
I really enjoyed it, i like how it went totally out of control but still have the control to do things. only problem was I could not get how the life was lost sometimes, maybe by banging on wall hard?
Yup. When you're able to fly you lose health whenever you hit a wall or the ground. Thanks for playing and commenting!
Well this is a really nice game!! You should probable change the UI font to a pixelated font, it'll go better with the great art. I get the idea, it's a bit cluncky, but It's of course fault of the time constraint. Great use of the theme! really liked it!
Thank you! I'll take a look at some pixelated fonts to pair with the art (which I might eventually replace with custom art).
A nice little puzzle game. I felt a little hindered by a 2 input limit but that might have been the fault of my keyboard? Also found it a little tricky having s as the pickup button, especially when it moved to the flying one where you couldn't touch the walls, but I guess thats part of it being 'out of control'.
I don't know of any input limit. But I'll rearrange the controls. Thank you for playing and commenting!
Nice art! A bit difficult, got stuck at place when you need to lift a computer up.
Yeah, I'll probably change up the level and controls if I update it. I didn't make the art, but thanks for complimenting my free asset choice! :)
This is great! We like the art you picked.
Thank you very much!
Liked the concept and the game was fun! I only wished the keybinding would be a little better since trying to jump and hold an object was a little difficult and required both of my hands. Besides that it was a nice game!
Appreciate it! I'm thinking about changing the controls in the future.
I was surprised how fleshed out all of the individual mechanics were, a little bit of polish on the ui and this could go far!
Glad you enjoyed it! I'm also considering replacing the free assets with custom art by a few artists I know.
