While I was initially super confused, after coming back to it and figuring out that I could jump, this is really really clever! The concept has so many applications, and the little bits of text seem to tie together a narrative as well as give hints to the player on what they need to do. The last level is definitely way harder than everything else, and I mostly attribute this to the fact that it required a kind of clunky jump while the gravity was reversed (I'm not used to jump being bound right below the wasd keys). With some more tuning on the level design and polish in terms of sound and animation, this is a great puzzle game that really messes with your head, great job!
I guess so many of the games I've made, played, and seen videos of are platformers, so I just sort of took jumping for granted.
The intended control scheme is arrow keys + Z (which is what most platformers I've played on keyboard use), or WASD + J (which IIRC is what the Distorted Travesty series uses, which is the only non-jam platformer I've played that uses WASD). (This says arrows + ZXC has been standard since Cave Story.) I've gotten at least one other comment on a different game about Z to jump; is it really that uncommon or is it just people not used to 2D platformers on PC?
(Oh, and also I'll almost certainly make a post-jam update that adds remappable controls. I've already written code to do that; only reason I didn't include it was because I didn't want to include too much code written before the jam.)
Kudos for making such a mind bending game but still keeping it intuitive. Usually in these kinds of games I end up getting to confused but I was able to work out what was happening on each level with enough thought. The last one in particular was really tricky but made me feel so clever when I solved it! The only thing that confused me at first was the missing piece was so small I didn't know it was there at first and thought I was just randomly beating levels. Even without music or sound this is a 5/5 for me, the narrative certainly makes up for it!
this was a nice little brain game
Wow i really loved this. The main mechanic has a lot of depth and I think it nailed being poetic as well. Adding some good music would take this to the next level
good idea but the background and the triangles make it confusing for no reason. Also, why wasn't the ending a giant Mobius strip?
Great game! change in space and orientation was wonderfully disorienting. Very nicely done. Fun to play!
Ohh I love when you mess with space in games (unfortunately this year I stuck to regular euclidean space). Audio would be nice, but that's just because I like audio. I really like the way you combined the theme with the cut and joined space, and the puzzles with changing orientation and size were really cool!
A melancholy, meditative game--I wish it had audio! Solving the puzzles was really satisfying and just a little mindbending. Nice progression in difficulty. Didnt make it all the way to the end--I got stumped. Still fun!
Very intriguing puzzles! At first it's very mind bending but once you understand what's going on, you can start seeing what to do; all it takes is a shift of perspective. Also loved the text on each level, showing that each level has a theme to think about!
One thing to maybe improve is that most of the levels were, in some sense, straightforward, meaning you basically only had one or two possible things to do. I actually really enjoyed the last level because it felt like I only had two possible moves, but in reality there was a third which solved the puzzle. Excellent work!
Very cool game, not understanding what I had to do confused me, but a little confusion is part of the experience
This is a lovely game. Got a bit stuck because I hadn't worked out I could jump (because I didn't read the blurb) but it really uses the mechanic well and the way each level made me use it in a totally different way was very nice.
I like this game! Great art and gameplay! Good job!
Please check my game as well ;)
This games gimmick is really fun. Puzzles are well made. Some music would make this game more interesting to play tho.
Wow, this one was trippy to play. I loved that last level when you keep moving right to get bigger and bigger. Very cool idea, super trippy, but in a great way! Nice job!
