The concept of having different abilities based on who is in front is an interesting idea, but the need for very precise movement right from the beginning and the jarring fast time limit didn't help the game much.
My problem when making games is that I want to provide the player with a challenge but not make it too hard. However, when I know the solution, I feel like it's too easy and tend to make it harder ;-;
If you can, throw the work in progresses at a friend or family member to see how long they take. I usually get my brother to play when doing a solo JAM or pass the puzzles around when working in a group.
I think the platforming aspect of the game in of itself controls fine. The left and right thing sounds like a cool concept on paper but the jump was the only really useful part of the two and I often found myself trying to circumvent the left/right jumping differences by "activating" the left side's higher jump by moving a slight bit to the left before performing a jump. I think the base concept is something that could definitely benefit from more looking into!
Thanks for your feedback! :D I myself am a bit sad that I couldn't get enough ideas to make the mechanic work perfectly, that's actually why I made that "Go right, go a bit left, Jump, go right mid-air" so it feels like the abilities go hand in hand, y'know?
So, I wasn't much of a fan of the untold time limit (a little amusing but also feels a little disrespectful to the player). The idea of basically two mechanics with a single control scheme was interesting and did make me think of how I was going to solve the puzzle in front of me. I also am not too sure why the passage on level 2 was somewhat hidden (same colour almost as the rest of the walls).
The passage on level 2 was hidden because I wanted to seperate the levels more from each other in their own seperate ways of being hard
Good mechanic and concept honestly, it's a little but rude to be kicked out of the game at the end of the time limie but it's funny :p
Yeah I guess that's true, especially since it comes out of nowhere^^'
It was interesting, the fact you made this on such a short time frame, that is awesome I feel it could be made more in depth if the characteristics to the characters and seperating them would be cool. I liked it, overall very fun.
I'm glad to hear that you seemed to enjoy it^^
It reminded me a bit like Jump King, I found myself sprinting to the right, then last second move left and jump, then move right mid-air. It was a fun little game, I liked the camera's changing perspective. Nice game!
I'm glad you like it!^^ And yeah, the time limit is also partly so tight becuse I always speedrunned it using that method^^'
The mechanic has some potential, although you should try making smaller levels with clever design (avoiding extremely precise jumps like the first long jump in level 1, they make falling kinda frustrating for the amount of progress you lose). I also suggest you to cut some details from the background since it is too polluted compared to the rest of the art. Nice entry overall!
About the first long jump: I never really bothered to take it out because there was an easy skip probably nobody noticed^^'
About the background: Yeah, I didn't really get that to look as I wanted. What really bothers me tho is that it turned out so dark, I had to make the characters lit up to pop out, destroying the original character design^^'
And finally, about your first point, potential: I really liked the base idea I had so I plan on working it out to a full game later on!
Great idea for having two speed for left and right, that time limit end screen scared the crap out of me lmao
Well, guess the game was right then, you didn't know about the time limit
nice one! the mechanic is really cool, with a bit more polish and level design this could be an amazing puzzle or rage game!
That's why I plan on finishing it at some point in the future^^
Definitely an interesting mechanic, and it's nice that there's some visual as to which character is selected.
I didn't know about the time limit though...
No one did. No one did.
I've never been so aggravated by a game in my life but also hella fun man nice job
I'm glad you like it... and hate it^^'
