wow, guys what a fun and enjoyable game, sound effects were good too, you should probably add some more levels, great jobs guys :D
What an incredibly sweet and charming puzzle game. The sound design was incredible and the puzzle design was just the right level of challenge. I thought the sound effect when they combine was great too, and appreciated the same gender magnets attracting. That means a lot. I'd love to see this idea developed a little further. Great work!
Great game. I like how It reminds me of Dr Crygor's Micro-Games in Wario Ware Twisted.
I like the different types of magnets.
It would be nice if you could add more levels.
And I would be very happy if you would play my game.
Very original and interesting mechanic! Shame that there are only 5 levels and 3 of them are basically tutorials, but the last 2 levels are pretty fun! They are challenging, but not unreasonably hard, and require some planning to solve and not just brute force, although level 4 is slightly longer than it strictly needs to be. I love the sounds and the music, they are very relaxing and fitting for a puzzle game. The sound effects perfectly matches with what the magnets and the level is doing on screen, with the soft and cute footsteps and the equally nice whirl that happens when the magnet the player is controlling switches. The animation is very fluid and the visuals are very clear and cute. It's a very nice little puzzle game with a great central idea, lots of polish, and thoughtful level design. My only criticism was that I wished there was more levels, otherwise well done to everyone involved!
P.S. I really appreciate the fact that the game allowed me to revisit any levels I wanted and keeps progress even after I closed the tab, really made replaying the game for this review much easier!
Also wanted to add that I loved how level 2 had a masc magnet couple, level 3 had a fem magnet couple, and how level 5 had a magnet wearing both masc and fem characteristics (Having both a moustache and a bow) while the other one had none. Only realized it after my third playthrough of the game. It's nice to see some queer representation in any game I play! (I would assume that's what they are meant to represent. Can magnets even be queer? Do they even have notions of gender?)
P.S. Also the fact that their eyes tracks the mouse is great too.
You might take another look at level 4 ;) ... we are really happy people do notice the LGBTQ support we have put into the game!
The fem and masc colours for the magnets are switched? I didn't even notice that! Is it meant to represent gender non-conformance? If so that's great!!!
Thank you for the in detailed feedback! I am glad you liked so many aspects of the game.
Puzzle game level design is really hard to get right during a short jam, so I made sure that all levels that we do have are working well. I hope I can add some in the future. Also it took a while to build the levels, as they where all round and the automatic hitboxes were a little jank.
very interesting game! but i didnt like art..
Pretty cute, neat little puzzle game. I've had a hard time at times but I am quickly learning puzzle games are not for me so that's probably not on you lot!
Good job on the game, I enjoyed it!
Really nice puzzle game! I was struggling for some time in levels 4 and 5, amazing take on this theme and really nice graphics and gameplay, very refreshing approach on the theme. Great job!
Edit: I forgot to comment on the name of your game: Very smart!
Extremely dang cute! Level 3 hung me up a little, but once I got the jump timing down, it was all good. Would've loved a few more levels or twists, but enjoyed what was there anyway
Really cute game, and cool idea! Overall, the game did a good job of teaching me the mechanics, although it did take until I think the third level for me to figure out if I was controlling the characters or the wheel. Level 4 was the trickiest I think, because I had forgotten that I could jump, and it was a bit hard to actually make the required jump.
Adorable concept, love it. I couldn't figure out level 5, maybe I'm dumb hahaha
super cool game and concept. great level design and art as well! I kinda wish it was a little bit longer :)
Great job!
Honestly that is the best critique we can hope for! Thank you :)
Great little game with challenging levels! I've had my share of fun playing it! More levels would have been fun, and It would be great if you introduced a button to disable the camera spinning for people sensitive to movement. On level 5 I've experienced some motion sickness, so I couldn't finish it yet ^^. Great job still!
Oh, that is a very good feedback, thank you for that! :) Does this mainly concern the camera spinning when switching characters, or generally when playing?
I will definitely put this on the to-do list for our post-jam development of the game. :)
:-) It's mainly when switching the characters. During the general playing, the spinning is quite slow, so not really a problem.
Ah, in this case it is an easy fix ^^
Sorry to hear that. I struggle with motion sickness in 3D games a lot, but haven't thought about accessibility for 2D motion sickness. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I am not sure, if controls are intuitive enough to play if we just deactivate the camera rotation ... we will come up with something :)
That was cool ! A nice little puzzle game with original mechanics ! The concept was sometimes a little bit hard to grasp : in the level 5, I often couldn't move my character like I thought it would... Maybe I didn't understand the physics correctly, but the solution I came up with seemed more "cheezy" than a real intended way ^^'.
Nonetheless, that was a really cute and well-done game, with a nice idea. Congratulations !
Cute and well-polished game! But isn't jumping a bit too weak here? Also I found a bug that if you are for example on level 3, come back on level 2, complete it and during all the completing animation and sound stuff you come back on level 3, you will open level 4.
oh no, not more bugs with loading levels D: we'll have a look once the jam is over!
This is probably my favorite game of the jam so far! Love the puzzles, art, and even the music is really good. I also really appreciate the LGBTQ support- I've seen a lot of games this jam about marriage or love, but it's nice to see one with that extra representation, especially given it's pride month. Awesome job all around.
That is a very major compliment, jimmyc5! Thank you for playing and the feedback. I am happy you enjoyed it! :)
This is very fun, polished -having a team goes a long way!-, nice presentation, I like the main mechanic- it was very original and something other than "2 characters on a rope". The only nitpicking I suffered (and it could be me) is that sometimes the characters got "stuck" moving very slowly, and that wasn't great player feedback- I didn't know if it was me doing something wrong or "exploiting" climbing a high slope.
Other than that, I think this is one of the cutest jam games.
Yes, there are definitely improvements to be made on the handling of the physics. :D
Thank you for your feedback, jynus, I am glad you enjoyed our little puzzler!
Very original and unique mechanic! And I like the music.
Such a good mechanic and clean implementation. Level designs are great and unique!
Puzzle design is really good.
take a bit to understand how high I can jump or how much the magnet pull effect each other.
after I understand it the puzzle is clear and enjoy to solve.
A very interesting and unique approach to the "controlling 2 characters at once" interpretation of the theme, the controls feel great (the gravity setting really feels weighty and magnet-y) and the puzzles were really pleasant to get through - I like how the eyes follow the mouse, just really nice extra polish touch!
Also after realising the pun is Soul Ma
gnetes I have to clap you for it.Thank you for playing and for the feedback! Fun fact: the eyes following the mouse were actually the very first bit of code I wrote for the jam. :)
