I'd like to try, but my gamepad doesn't work for it... If you add keyboard support post jam, @ me.

Developer

Hi! I've added keyboard support along with other small fixes so you can try it now ;)

Neat little experience. I like the relaxing experience, but also wish there was something to do.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yep, it was planned to be bigger than that. Nevertheless, I still have some ideas to try and expand it a bit.

It didn't work for us, we are sorry. Windows said that there is a problem with scull.lua:84 and joystick.
It feels like this game should be fun for local co-op, but it is very sad I didn't manage to try it :(

Developer

Hey, I've fixed joystick requirements so you can try to play it on keyboard now! I recommend to play with a friend of course :)

Really neat idea! To be frank, I myself had neither a second gamepad nor a second friend in my house to play this, but the atmosphere was really really well made for just rowing around. I wish there was more to explore, areas to discover, and stuff to do, but 48 hours is 48 hours. Great job!

Downloaded it knowing I wasn't going to be able to play it because I need 2 people. Got this error, i think its because I don't have a controller connected.

Error

scull.lua:84: attempt to index field 'joystick' (a nil value)

Traceback

scull.lua:84: in function 'getInput'

scull.lua:194: in function 'update'

kayak.lua:44: in function 'update'

main.lua:55: in function 'update'

[C]: in function 'xpcall'

Looks like a cool game from the screenshots though.

Thanks for letting me know! I did add check for second gamepad connected but forgot about case where no gamepads connected at all :(

Developer(+1)

Hi! The problems you've mentioned must be fixed in updated version. So if you still have interest in trying the game check the latest zip I've uploaded :)

It looks very pretty, but the 2 gamepads requirement is a strong limitation, especially since the game jam required it to be played on keyboard + mouse mainly.
It's a shame, really, because the game is not getting the recognition it should get

Developer(+1)

Yeah I know that it's an unpopular input decision. But I strongly believe that game jams are about trying something new and experimental not necessarily convenient.

Thanks for the kind words!

Developer

Oh you're right. I totally missed the requirement for keyboard/mouse support. Well then it's a well deserved ostracism 🙃
