Pretty funny mechanic and take on the theme! The horse and horseman make an adorable and very entertaining pair!

The platforming was a bit hard, most of the time I wished I could aim in certain directions to pull myself higher.

I found the music a bit repetitive too, and for some reason (at least on my machine) the character sprite was a a bit blurry when moving.

Cool, really unexpected idea and mechanics, and quite challenging too! Maybe it will be more fun to play if can use mouse to aim the slingshot direction. Nice works!

Developer

I think mouse aiming would probably slow down the gameplay a lot and make is overcomplicated.

Thanks for your comment tho :)

Wow. That was amazing. This game felt so polished and the gameplay was so fun. The difficulty was a bit extreme though.

Developer

Yep , there should be a bit more level to ease the player into the difficult setups.

Very cool game! Also very hard! It's got a fun and satisfying mechanic, and while the graphics are a bit simple, they do have a certain pleasantness about them. Just need to tone down the difficulty a bit.

Developer

I don't think the difficulty is too high. The game just needs some more levels to give the player more time to learn the main mechanics. In fact, I want to go even crazier with the difficulty if we make more level.

Nice game! I love the art style and the concept is really fun.  Pretty big difficulty curve. Nice job!

I really like the artstyle and music(even tho it loops pretty fast). The Controlls are also really nice and original.

Very nice ! Controls can be improved but nice surprise overall

First of all, gorgeous art, the little expressions of the horse and rider are super endearing! This is a bit nit picky but I feel there should have been a dying animation - sometimes the horse would keep running through the spikes, and I'd think "Oh, I made it" just to find out I didn't really make it at all, which was not a good feeling. And the main mechanic was quite tricky to get used to, although this game is excellently designed when it comes to gradually introducing new mechanics! Plus the concept itself is a genius take on the theme, a bit funny, and a great way to mix up 2d platforming. Great work!

Developer

Yep this game needs a death animation.

I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

That was surprisingly hard!

Nice idea and its a fun style like painted in MS-Paint. It's hard to handle the jump-logic and you need tryouts for it. I also liked the Stage 0 Animation-Idea :)

It's so cuuuuuuuuute !

really fun and nails that western vibe! I really liked how the controls/core mechanic feels, and all of the artwork was super cool

Beautiful looking game with a great mechanic, but I can't get past the second spike jump on the second level.  I feel like Shift or F isn't the best choice for the throw button since then everything is happening on your left hand -- I was playing by having my right hand pressing F right next to my left.  Anyway, it feels like the longer I wait, the farther I go when I snap and the more momentum and the further I should go, but that doesn't seem to be the case, it seems like pressing early or late doesn't affect my momemtum as much as I think it should.  I tried that jump for a few minutes and was just barely missing; is there a secret to these mechanics or is it just a really tight jump?

Edit: Oh lol I forgot about right shift

Developer

yeah that's just a pretty difficult jump, I had trouble with it too. Due to crunch time we didn't have time to revise any of the difficulty of the levels. Thanks for playing!

Developer

the jump isn't that tight. Its even possible to overshoot it without even landing on top of the platform.

I guess my level design just didn't make the best setup obvious enough.

Basically just stand next to the wall and throw your horse at the wall while jumping and zip to it when its above you.

OK, finally got it -- I may have been somewhat hesitant to throw my cow into spikes but I didn't realize he was impervious to the damage.  Even now it took some time to get the rhythm, but once I did it was pretty consistent -- Jump, throw, snap up.

Edit: And woot, I completed the game.  I actually only had 6 stars when I got home so I went back to the first snake spring stage to grab the extra star there -- I managed to grab the star by waiting for the cow to fly over the spikes and fall down so I could snap to him and go through the wall.

really nice game idea. The controlls are really funny, but a bit wanky. But the well placed campfires in the levels are good in preventing frustration.

good game!

Developer

thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback!

This game is SO cute, and the throwing the cow (sorry buddy) mechanic is super fun. I love it. Really nice work!

Developer

ay I'm glad you enjoyed it! We did a lot of brainstorming and went from really dark and horror-y ideas to this really goofy one, I'm still quite amused on the process of how that happened lmao
