Had a lot of fun with this! The puzzles were very well-designed, though quite challenging by the end, and the mechanic is clever. I like sokoban-style puzzle games and this was a neat twist on those. The art is also very cute, though I do wish there was some music (unless there is and it just didn't play for me---I'm not sure). Great work.
EDIT: itch was bugging out and somehow this comment got posted three times. I deleted the other ones but I apologize if you got multiple notifications :)
Thank you for the feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed the game! I definitely agree that music would be an undeniable way to give the game more life (it wasn't just on your end haha) the time constraints and my limited experience working with audio made it difficult, but luckily this gives me more to aim for next time. No problem about the itch bug, haha.
Very nice! Great puzzle design and art!
Enjoyed it very much
I'm glad you liked it! Usually, I'm an amateur pixel artist at best haha but I was definitely proud of what's in this project, thank you!
Very cool concept, we had the same ideia to play as de level designer. That's funny.
Great game anyways, it used some actual level design concepts in the gameplay and that felt awesome!
Thank you, great minds think alike it seems!
Very neat concept!
Thank you!
Very well made puzzle game! A large amount of very puzzling puzzles for the short amount of time.
"puzzling puzzles" haha, I like that. Thank you!
Very creative and fun!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Yeah, I thought it was really clever and had a good progression of difficulty. I also liked the characters. Very impressive game design in 48 hours!
Very fun way to present a stealth game, and true to life, anyway I'm back to the video game mines.
Huh, I never even thought of it as stealth haha. Good luck in the mines!
Loved the concept. And the narrative elements.
Thanks, I loved writing for this game! haha
That's is truly a great game with great game design. Though it took me a lot more time that I expected from a game made in two days. Absolute love it!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
The idea for this game is so cool! The ability to kind of 'program' the player with what to chase reminds me of Baba is You in terms of mechanical elegance and simplicity, with so much depth to it. Also, making the player both an obstacle and tool is really unique. The only thing that would really improve it would maybe be some quality of life options, like a back button for each individual action. Awesome entry!
I love Baba is You! It's also what (probably goes without saying) inspired the name of this game. Thank you for your comments on the mechanics, I'm super proud for someone to compare it to Baba! I also agree that for such involved puzzled an undo function will be a necessary addition.
Love the art, and the gameplay was really fun and creative.
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Such a cute aesthetic (thanks to the pixels, I doubt a giant floating eyeball would be cute otherwise) and such a unique interpretation of the theme from what I've seen so far. Sure lots of games let you play as the level, but as the level designer specifically, that's new. And on top of that it can be quite the hard puzzle to crack sometimes.
Haha, the floating eyeball was such a silly character I decided to keep it in the end instead of swapping it out later as a placeholder. Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the game.
The main mechanic is really interesting and has good potential for a full release, the whole thing is super clever
Thank you! I'm very proud of how well the main mechanic lent itself to these puzzles. It's something I will definitely keep experimenting with to see where it may go.
Very interesting mechanics and honestly it's a pretty tricky game, nice job on the design!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! The difficulty scaling is something I may have to experiment with haha
Very well done! Some stages are quite tough and lenghty in steps, and if I had a rewind 1 step button or something similar it would really help me.
At the end of the day, a puzzler needs to be challenging so that's a pro, but I personally have a more hands on approach to puzzles so I had to reset a LOT.
A rewind button is a quality-of-life feature that will definitely be a top priority to add. The nature of this puzzler makes it unfortunately easy to soft-lock, which I can imagine may be frustrating haha. Thank you for the feedback!
Really clever game, well implemented! The puzzles are fun and challenging. The difficulty (I only finished the 7th) is perfect. The mechanics could be intoduced a bit better though. It took me a while to understand the 7th puzzle, because I didn't know the player would go towards the fruit. But after I got that it's kinda genius. The player chasing the candy and so on haha
Thank you! One of my priorities if I continue with this project will definitely introducing the mechanics and puzzling concepts in a more gradual way. Good job getting through those levels!
I cackled. Amazing word play xd
The art is great, I loved the cutesy character designs. The project manager is cute, yet ice cold.
Great submission!
Thank you! I loved developing the project manager's subtle deceptiveness haha.
I loved the idea. its probably a problem with me, but couldn't understand the mechanics past the first part of the first level. the player character control is clunky and he sometimes faces in the wrong direction.
the dialogue was funny and I enjoyed reading it, good job!
I'm sorry you couldn't get very far! The mechanics are a bit complex and finding a better, more gradual way to teach them would definitely be a priority if I continued developing.
This was brilliant. I am sure this is going to be the most creative submission in the Jam. You handled the introduction to mechanics as well as the context given really well. The controls became intuitive and the puzzles were engaging, the dialogue was hilarious and a great commentary on game development in places. Well done!
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Writing the cheeky jabs at my favorite hobby in the dialogue was one of my favorite parts haha.
