"The Mother of All Puzzles " is a puzzle game where the objective is to help the hero return to his mom, but in a surprising twist, the ROLES are REVERSED! Instead of controlling the hero, you are changing the level so the hero will succeed.

I liked the color palate you chose here. The font could be a bit different though. I see so much thought behind the world building and that's really nice for a 48hr game.

Feel free to hop into my game as well and share your thoughts and ratings if you have the time!

Cool idea, and I like the art style, it reminds me of Blackthornprod. Definitely worth adding a start button (as you have already heard lol), and maybe even removing the timer entirely. Also, there’s a bug that lets you move the child with a platform before it even starts moving, which let me beat the entire game in about 20 seconds lol. Overall, it’s a really cool concept with nice art, but some bug fixes are definitely required :)

Thank you very much for playing the game and writing a review! We know the game isn’t bug proof, but we are happy to hear that you enjoyed playing it!

I really like this idea! Two things: one, it'd be nice to be able to skip the remainder of the time instead of having to wait for it. And two, apparently the child still has physics when you are setting up the level, so you can just scoop him up with a platform and move him to the mother before he even starts walking. Not sure whether this was intentional but it seems game breaking.

Thank you very much for playing the game and writing a review! We were aware about the bug, but we run out of time...

Nice puzzle game - i like it, but you need start button when you ready to break time wait and restart the level button if fails

I'm not gonna repeat to mention a bu****

but you could maybe add a grid in the background so you can see how much the character moves for each input from his mother

Check out my game too! the base idea is very similar

So people already mentioned the timer, but I want to mention a lack of a reset button. At one point the hero got stuck and I had to leave the level, but entering a level again softlocked the game.

I don't think the game idea lends itself to interesting conundrums or puzzles, but granted I've only played the jam levels. I just don't think they are that much fun to solve.

Hey, I don't know if...EVERYONE mentioned this, but a timer skipping button would be good haha.

But that fat sax blowing in the background helped to pass the time :)

I enjoyed the idea and think it has a lot of potential.

Thanks!

Wow you are the FIRST person to telling us this! We will think about it.... but for real though thank you very much for playing the game and writing us a review.

Really enjoyed the music. The game idea is cool. Would have really like to have a button that started the level though. Well done.

love the concept! would definitely play a more polished version of this. couple of specific notes - i wish there was a way to short-circuit the timer if i thought i was ready, instead of waiting 25 seconds, and the levels got pretty confusing to navigate after the 3rd one. nice work!

I like the concept of the game, of modifying the stage instead of the instructions itself, though I feel the puzzle ideas aren't as explored as they could've been. As others pointed out, a button to skip the timer would be really helpful, and maybe even just doing away with the timer entirely and just one button to start the level would work too.

Bug - when dragging around the moveable platforms, you can "push" the child around. You could use that to move him off screen, or even transport him to mom even before 30 seconds is up.

I like the mood though, it's pretty funny with the really scared child and the scary mom

Thank you for playing the game and writing a detailed comment! We thought of adding the button to skip the timer, but we didn’t have enough time...

Great job, look very good,  Specific funny story about characters, maybe text in levels screen could be lower

The game looks great! I had a lot of fun playing it. One little tweak I'd probably make is to add a "go now" button to skip what's left on the timer. Also I got stuck between a movable platform and a platform edge. It's great for a 48hr game!

I agree with the last comment - the characters made me laugh, and the music was well done, but it would have been nice to be able to skip the timer for better trial and error, having to wait 20 seconds was more frustrating than actually failing the level. Other than that, it's a good concept!

Thank you for your feedback. Your review means a lot to us.

Good:

  • Good music
  • Interesting artistic design
  • Interesting idea

Bad:

  • No way (or at least now way shown) of skipping timer when level is set up
  • Getting the exact positions of items correct is fiddly even when you know where they need to be
  • How springs work is not clearly communicated
